Oh my goodness. This is the first print that I saw of yours when you used to be in Country Living (I think) years back. I fell in love with your work and actually cut this out of the magazine and framed it in my kitchen. 🙂 I never baked the recipe. I was young, single and never cooked or baked. Now I’m a Mom of 3 and need to try it. Yum!
Dear Susan.. Is your bleuberry bread pudding reciepe calling for 3Tablespoons of Vanilla and also 3 Tablespoons of Cinnamon? I think with your writting i am reading it correctly.. it sounds wonderful and i want to make it so ust checking..

Lorna Langford.
Hi Susan from up Canada way- EH ?! Oh my goodness…well, I’m going to print out this recipe because …afterall, I’m a BLUEBERRY-O-HOLIC !!!
And you may get a poem from me one of these days too, your blog is cute and inspiring…Glad you’re enjoying the Summer…May there be loads of Sun and Plenty of fun !!!!!
Dear Susan: I cannot thank you enough for sending this recipe along. Believe it or not I have every one of your recipe books that I treasure not only for the recipes but for your magnificant art work. I have bought duplicate copies of your books, and (heaven forbid) cut out the recipes, had them framed, and are now decorating my new kitchen! Your insights and care are fabulous, and I truly hope that you continue…I will need more framing done to finalize the kitchen nook!!
Hope your summer is wonderful, and creative! Affectionately, Pat Ford
… I love blueberries, and I love your drawing of the blueberry bucket. It reminds me of when my sister and I would take our buckets and go into the woods to pick wild blueberries with our grandmother. She would make the most wonderful pies with those berries. Thank you for a trip down memory lane and I can’t wait to try the bread pudding.
Dear Susan,
After visiting the New England states on a cruise a couple of years ago with my husband and sister and her husband, blue berries and lobsters are my all time favorites. I also love bread pudding, so thank you so much for sending this recipe my way!
Anna
thank you sounds yummy I have made bread pudding before with carmal sauce can’t wait to try this. Oh by the way love this newletter from Willard. Thanks again.
I absolutely love my collection of all your recipe books! Thanks for publishing the Blueberry Pudding and Sauce! A good reminder how healthy and delicious this treat genuinely is!!!!! My husband and I so enjoyed touristing in that quaint town and visiting in your store when traveling mid-state California. You are truly missed in Aroyo Grande.
Happy Summer to and Joe,
Marilyn
Pretty page, and my that recipe sounds wonderful! I too am a big fan of lots of vanilla & cinnamon – good idea to put lots in there! I also want to be healthy, so red wine is good for us too, and I’ll be sure and add lots of vanilla ice cream to make my bones strong! 🙂
I just purchased netting to keep the birds off my blueberry bush. It is loaded with berries and I am anxious to try your recipe. Also, today is my birthday and I just played my favorite song “Old Cape Cod”. Thanks for making my special day complete.
Bread pudding of every flavor is my favorite and I just bought blueberries today so think I’ll be making this tomorrow. It looks like a delicious recipe and I always use way more vanilla than called for; it always turns out great!
Love blueberries and vanilla ice cream since I was a kid…Long ago and far away!
Love your website and thanks for the wonderful recipe. We should all be very healthy after eating this…right? Thanks for the beauty you bring into our lives…marianne
What great timing Susan (because the blueberries are in season and on sale everywhere) and I was just thinking, “Hmmm, what should I make?”
We’ll be having this over the holiday weekend. Yum!!
Thanks for the great idea. Happy Independence Day!!
It’s there to thicken as you probably know. I think, rather than a flour and water paste dribbled in, I would let the berries and wine boil down some more and just not serve it really thick. It doesn’t matter, as long as it’s there, it’s not going to hurt the taste to go without arrowroot…just be a little thinner.
Hi Susan…this sounds delicious. I’m on a total sugar free diet since my diagnosis of cancer last fall. One must do what need to do for oneself outside of prayer. Do you think this could be made without the sugar?
Blessings,
Chris
So sorry to hear that. I’ve never tried this recipe with a sugar substitute; although it probably could be done. You probably know more about how that works than I do at this point. Looking at the recipe I can almost imagine it without any sugar at all. Blueberries aren’t that sweet though, but I bet you’d be extra sensitive to sweetness anyway. Make a tiny one. In a ramekin and see what happens. The cinnamon and vanilla are strong flavors, and maybe if you served it with sugar free ice cream, it would work. Blessings on you and yours Chris. Susan
Your recipes and art are also a part of my life in a small country village in Switzerland! That’s how far out you reach by now! Let’s see if the blueberry bread pudding works with Swiss blueberries too.
Thank you for all the inspiration and encouragement!

Bread pudding is one of the simple joys of life, and can be done so many ways…this looks like a keeper for me..I just put about 8 quarts of blueberries in the freezer! The crop looks like it was stupendous this year they are huge, plentiful and so yummy. Thank you for this!

Wine and blueberries together in the sauce? Swoon!
Sounds good – – -could something be substituted for the arrowroot without altering the result???
