HAPPY EASTER GIRLFRIENDS! A new Willard starts going out on Tuesday ♥ Sign up sisters and girlfriends for a surprise in their email boxes. Fun surprise here on the blog that day too. Blessings for a wonderful weekend. Love you, XOXO
What could be sweeter? Those darling jingle shells, your scrumptious lemon roll or your sweet Joe making the garden ready? I’d pick sweet Joe!
Thanks for you!
What a perfectly enchanted post! It reminds me of my best childhood friend.
What fond memories, thank you for bringing them back for me!
Easter was a delight at my house ~ family and children make it all the more wonderful. I made your Quinoa salad to compliment the ham and deviled eggs. The children still believe in the magic of the Easter Bunny hiding treasures in the yard and we had a tea party with Pooh and Piglet and Superman. How wonderful that we get to have a new beginning every Spring and the chance to stop and take in the day. Now I’ll head off to make your Lemon Roll cake. . .
I always love to go onto your website and be uplifted. After losing my son a few years ago, I had lost my zest for life. Websites such as yours can be so uplifting and bring back some joy in my life. Thank you Susan. I bought A Fine Romance and couldn’t put it down. Read the whole thing in one day. Can hardly wait for your new book to be published. Have a wonderful day in the beautiful area you live in. It is my dream to visit the east coast someday!
Hi Susan,
I’ve been flipping through your books since I was a kid, thanks to my grandma for introducing me. We both loved reading A Fine Romance, and now pear cider is our favorite treat! Lemon cake looks delicious; I can almost smell it.
Always an inspiration as we move into Spring . . . I’m looking forward to the work in the garden.
I recently came across your facebook page and discovered really enjoying reading Willard and everything on your blog. I look forward to enjoying all that you bring to us.
The new Willard is a welcome addition to these delightful Spring days! I always sigh happily when I read the latest news from you and Martha’s Vinyard. The jingle shells are amazing; I’ve never seen any! I love the new keepsake books and plan to include a couple with baby gifts to expectant moms. I also have to tell you that I loved, loved, loved A Fine Romance. I felt like a stowaway who hid in your luggage and walked the English countryside with you. Since I’ll never be able to travel to England, thanks for making the trip for me and reporting on it in such a delightful way!
I would love a signed copy of A Fine Romance. What a wonderful Mother’s Day gift it would be!!!
You inspire me!! Can’t wait to try the lemon cake for myMom’s 91st BD party this weekend!
Thank you!
I love your blog – so much “scope for the imagination.”
I’m not sure what to do first . . . enjoy the cake, read a book, work in the garden . . . all most enjoyable to me. Thank you for thinking about a touch of Spring in our lives which is just around the corner after a long winter.
Always look forward to the new Willard and
then wonderful recipes you share. Happy Spring – finally!!

I’m so happy I found you. I love your work and the blog is delightful. Thank you.
dear susan, I’m fairly new to your wonderful enchanting blog and I must say I do so enjoy it.
Reading and looking at your pictures in the blog is inspiring to me.
The part I enjoyed the most on the latest blog is the picture of the jingle shells and how you arranged them on the window sill. This brought me back to when I was a little girl, and we lived on Long Island, NY. My parents loved taking rides with us to east end or the north shore to hunt for antiques and treasures for our home. the jingle shells in particular bring back fond memories of all of us staying on the beach for vacation, but not in the summer but in early spring when it was still very cold but less expensive, especially for such a huge family. I would walk the beach for hours collecting jingle shells, back then I called them painted toe nail shells. I filled jars and bags and carry them home with me, thinking I had found the best treasures of them all.
Love Willard. I print them out and every so often read them over again. Enjoy them each time!
Hi Susan. Again you enrich us with beautiful pictures (both photos and art work), recipes (that I am sure to try!), plus your wonderful gift give-aways. Thank you so much. I am always inspired after reading your blog.
Happy Spring!!!! you brightened my day once again! Love the recipes and the heartwarming pictures!
Connie
The cake looks delicious!
Susan, thank you for the beautiful words, photos, and especially the illustrations! Love your blog and your heart for people. Happy Spring!
There’s no way to be a perfect mom, but a million ways to be a wonderful mother.
I love this sentence as it describes what Mom was like when the seven of us were kids. She’s the one that made a homemade angel food cake for our birthdays (think late 50’s, 60’s) whipping the egg whites with a hand whip; sewed us new dresses for the first day of school, Christmas and Easter; sewed a new pair of pj’s for each of us every winter; wrapped up flowers in newspaper to bring to our teachers for the first day of school, ……… I hope my 4 kids, all adults, have good memories of me…. Thank you, thank you, for your lovely blogs, recipes, books – I too love Beatrix Potter, older books, travel, vintage finds – if you haven’t watched the movie, 84 Charing Cross Road, please watch it – if you’ve watched it, it’s time to watch it again!
Happy Spring, sweet lady!
What a wonderful give-away! I would love to be given these treasures!
I love reading your blog!
Thanks, Susan!

As I sit here taking in another gray day, I find your Earth Day newsletter and suddenly everything is bright and sunny in my thoughts. Thank you for all your inspirations!!! I can hardly wait to get out into my own yard and start digging in the dirt. Happy Spring to you!
Happy Spring! I love your blog and Willard, too.
After a long winter in Michigan, and shoveling over 93 inches of snow..it’s refreshing to open my windows for fresh spring air and sights of thegreen grass. When I opened my Willard today, it was kind of the same experience… a welcomed sight for my eyes with the wonders of spring in your world. Thank you for warming my heart and spirit.
I would be overjoyed with anything you would send. I never miss your blog.

I love that you find happiness in the simplest things. I love picking up shell and rocks also. And I really enjoy your writing! Dana
You can be my new best friend. I just “lazied” out my day (i.e. made my day worthwhile) in the hammock reading Willard and breathing in SPRING.
Blessings, friend. Dbe
I would love to sit in the spring sunshine listening to the geese and ducks on the pond behind our house while I savor on of those lovely books!
Susan, You inspire me to pay attention to/breathe in/enthusiastically embrace the finer, simpler things in life. Your generosity and creativity warm my soul, and even though you churn out such bounty, somehow I come away with the sentiment that Less is More…bless you and may all of these responses encourage you to joyfully and delightfully continue on your cheery way!

On a gloomy gray Maine afternoon, your blog was a much needed lift…almost as if sunshine came in my windows.
Hope that you and Joe had a wonderful Easter. Hugs, Joyce
Love your blog and your cookbooks – love sitting on the porch with a cup oc coffee and reading them. Thank you for the post of the rose breasted grosbeak, I live outside of Atlanta and this year we have two at our feeders. We have never seen them before and could not find them under Georgia birds.

Sweet Susan, I have been a huge fan of yours forever and just received your latest Willard. As usual, it was delightful ! I have numerous ones that I received via snail mail years ago, that I treasure! You make me smile!! Thanks!
Love your blog ..always inspiring. Looking forward to trying my first roll up cake!
Ah…..a Willard and a new blog! Together with my cup of tea (well, you TOLD me to get myself a cup while reading Willard), and a few pieces of apple, banana, strawberries, and cashews, I had a nice afternoon reprieve reading both. Thank you SO MUCH for all you do for us to bring us sunshine in winter and pure glee in spring. You are much appreciated.
Susan, I’ve just been introduced to you this month by my friend. Her enthusiasm for your writings, your recipes, your art and the delightful way you combine all your talents inspired me to delve deeper into your literary craftsmanship. I’m thrilled to have found you. I have already ordered cookbooks for myself and my daughter-in-law and will tell everyone who will listen about your website. “A Fine Romance” is at the top of my “present” list (my birthday is in a couple of months). Sorry to be so ‘gushing’ but I truly love what you do, you have a unique talent.
I’m very happy to meet you Wendy!
Susan, I love your website, your books, your recipes and blogs. My mother has been gone for
12 years but I am making the Mothers Day Cake in her memory. She was an excel ant cook who hand wrote a cookbook of her favorite recipes when she was 90, had had a copy printed for each family member.
Absolutely loved A Fine Romance. Everyone should read it.
Susan, dear, to find Willard in my mailbox and to read your blog made my day. I needed a lift from some news I received; and even though your calendar greets and blesses me every day, it was great to hear from you today. I know you are busy (you create circles around me), yet bless you for taking the time and care to share your happy home, activities, and gifts with all of us.
Thank you, Susan, for your cheery outlook on life, and the beauty you share! Your new book sounds wonderful, and I will be anxious to read it when it is published!
