What could be sweeter? Those darling jingle shells, your scrumptious lemon roll or your sweet Joe making the garden ready? I’d pick sweet Joe!

  2. yvonne bannon says:

What a perfectly enchanted post! It reminds me of my best childhood friend.
What fond memories, thank you for bringing them back for me!

  3. Easter was a delight at my house ~ family and children make it all the more wonderful. I made your Quinoa salad to compliment the ham and deviled eggs. The children still believe in the magic of the Easter Bunny hiding treasures in the yard and we had a tea party with Pooh and Piglet and Superman. How wonderful that we get to have a new beginning every Spring and the chance to stop and take in the day. Now I’ll head off to make your Lemon Roll cake. . .

  4. JoAnn Wasden says:

I always love to go onto your website and be uplifted. After losing my son a few years ago, I had lost my zest for life. Websites such as yours can be so uplifting and bring back some joy in my life. Thank you Susan. I bought A Fine Romance and couldn’t put it down. Read the whole thing in one day. Can hardly wait for your new book to be published. Have a wonderful day in the beautiful area you live in. It is my dream to visit the east coast someday!

  5. Katelynn says:

    Hi Susan,

The new Willard is a welcome addition to these delightful Spring days! I always sigh happily when I read the latest news from you and Martha’s Vinyard. The jingle shells are amazing; I’ve never seen any! I love the new keepsake books and plan to include a couple with baby gifts to expectant moms. I also have to tell you that I loved, loved, loved A Fine Romance. I felt like a stowaway who hid in your luggage and walked the English countryside with you. Since I’ll never be able to travel to England, thanks for making the trip for me and reporting on it in such a delightful way!

  42. Nina-Marie Barr says:

dear susan, I’m fairly new to your wonderful enchanting blog and I must say I do so enjoy it.
Reading and looking at your pictures in the blog is inspiring to me.
The part I enjoyed the most on the latest blog is the picture of the jingle shells and how you arranged them on the window sill. This brought me back to when I was a little girl, and we lived on Long Island, NY. My parents loved taking rides with us to east end or the north shore to hunt for antiques and treasures for our home. the jingle shells in particular bring back fond memories of all of us staying on the beach for vacation, but not in the summer but in early spring when it was still very cold but less expensive, especially for such a huge family. I would walk the beach for hours collecting jingle shells, back then I called them painted toe nail shells. I filled jars and bags and carry them home with me, thinking I had found the best treasures of them all.

  43. Kathy says:

Love Willard. I print them out and every so often read them over again. Enjoy them each time!

  48. Sue says:

There’s no way to be a perfect mom, but a million ways to be a wonderful mother.

I love this sentence as it describes what Mom was like when the seven of us were kids. She’s the one that made a homemade angel food cake for our birthdays (think late 50’s, 60’s) whipping the egg whites with a hand whip; sewed us new dresses for the first day of school, Christmas and Easter; sewed a new pair of pj’s for each of us every winter; wrapped up flowers in newspaper to bring to our teachers for the first day of school, ……… I hope my 4 kids, all adults, have good memories of me…. Thank you, thank you, for your lovely blogs, recipes, books – I too love Beatrix Potter, older books, travel, vintage finds – if you haven’t watched the movie, 84 Charing Cross Road, please watch it – if you’ve watched it, it’s time to watch it again!
