Wow… just got your blog on facebook which I usually receive though email. Either way, I enjoy reading the blogs … your so much better than reading the newspaper 🙂 Love your drawing of the cups and mugs. Snuggle down and have a nice evening.

Love the idea of different coffee mugs. I’ve been collecting them for close to 30 years–since we got married. Mine are from our travels–souvenir mugs. They are real conversation starters. As an evening wears on, sometimes conversations wane as tiredness sets in. They perk it up for a last “hurrah” before heading home. Sadly, I’ve broken two from different trips–must return to get new ones!

    Dear Susan,
When I read your books and blogs, I feel like you are ME with better ideas! I totally experience every feeling, emotion and sensation you describe. And I ALWAYS come away with a smile…and a great recipe or decorating idea!
    Thank you!!!

Love the story about Mrs. Coolidge — what a quick mind! (Her husband was not bad, either.) My only problem is getting everything out of the oven (and keeping it hot) at about the same time. I’m pretty hopeless — there’s always something that needs 10 more minutes when everything (and everyone) else is ready.

Good Blog as usual. I don’t entertain very much as I worked outside the home for 38 years & raised 4 children and never had the time or energy to do it.
My husband passed away June 30, and I am not doing too well. On Nov.3 we would have been married 62 years. I don’t know what to do with myself. We were always together and I feel like my life is over. My children are married and have their own children & Grandchildren, so they have their own lives. My sister is married & my brother is a bachelor so they have their own lives. I have always wanted to go on a trip to Cape Cod.Maybe if I get through all this I will be able to do that some day.

You will get through, look what you’ve already been through, you have all of that same strength inside you now. I’m so sorry, life whacks us good sometimes and I can hear, it’s got you this time, but you will get through. Plan that trip, someday is now, there are lots of ways to do it, tours and things, and you need to get outside yourself and give yourself a break from relentless sadness and the past hanging over everything. Then a volunteer job at a library, food bank, because you have a VALUABLE life where giving can make all the difference. My heart is with you DeLores. There is a sisterhood of kindness out there if you can stumble onto it through the hardest part, reaching out. Hugs and blessings on you dear. xoxoxoxo
