Double your pleasure, double your fun . . .
as going through this year’s Blotter Calendar — you know how the paper is really nice and heavy and there’s nothing on the back of each page? So, I was looking at it closer, then I got out my trusty scissors and LOOK at all the fun things I cut out ….
….to use for bookmarks, scrapbook embellishments (all the names of the months are there!) and gift cards! And that was without really trying! So when I designed this year’s Blotter (coming in Aug.) I thought about that and, besides all the things that naturally happen in the design of the calendar, I put in an actual bookmark and some tags for your food gifts over the holidays. Doubling the worth of calendar, is what I think. Don’t throw out your old calendar!

t the same antique store I found these three different-sized, old, square cake pans…they were the inspiration for this cake (I was also inspired by the fact that my girlfriend Lowely was having a birthday!)

ere’s the cake, like a giant coconut marshmallow. I love making this old-fashioned boiled frosting, watching the egg whites get thick and shiny while beating in the sugar syrup. It’s like magic.
o it’s all ready…all that’s left to do is put on some candles! To go with the cake, one of the girls is picking up
