Hello from Smallville!

“Hello,” as my dad says, “from Smallville!”  ‘Cause that’s where I live too.  And I like it lit the firehere.  Sometimes the world just seems too big ~ but the bigger it gets, the smaller I get ~ because here in Smallville,  it’s always a nice day. There’s plenty to do in Smallville too … it’s not a boring place.

Things that don’t count in the big world are EVERYTHING here.  When the world tries to get into Smallville and upset the smallness, I shut it out, turn on the MUSICA (listening to this now), light a fire (hearing it crackle), watch the birds busy at the feeders (peep-peep), and do what needs to be done.

toxic world

doing dishes

Like cleaning shelves. Nothing more common sense than this, sometimes it needs to be done.  I give myself a sense of purpose and accomplishment by getting the cooking juices off yellow glasswaremy shelves with a hot soapy cloth; washing dishes (I wash the ones with gold trim on them by hand) and putting them back on the shelves, shiny and clean.  Standing back and looking at my handiwork and saying, “ahhhh, look at that sparkle!”  I’m always happiest when my corner of the world is clean and organized and a new year for me always includes organization, which my mom says, is the key to success.

doing dishes

Some of the dishes are washed by hand, and these just came out of the dishwasher.

doing dishes

It’s before dawn and my audience is very quiet, just waking up, she pussyfoots around.  No loud applause.  Just purring.

And speaking of organization . . .

address book

The other thing I wanted to share with you is an organizing thing that has turned out to be SO GOOD I had to tell you about it.  I had this old (no longer in print) unused address book lying around, so I grabbed it and turned it into a brand new thing.

address book

It’s now my “Internet Address and Password Log Book.”  Before I thought of this, I had all my notewebsites and passwords written, but not alphabetized, on four pieces of paper (adding more pages all the time) that got limper and more tattered and worn by the day; torn on the fold and messy with additions and pencil smears ~ I would have to “re-do” the whole thing every so often.

watercolor flowers

address book

Now I have a real book I can put everything in. Like here, under C, the phone number and email address for Customer Service at my Studio.

watercolor flowers

address book

It’s a hard-cover book with alphabet tabs that keep everything I need right at my fingertips.

organization

For instance, under M, for Mom, here are all the websites, user names and passwords I need in order to pay my mom’s bills online.  There are copies of her two credit cards, in case I need them. (These pages look a lot better in real life than they do in these photos ~ I didn’t think it would be very smart for me to show the world my passwords so I sort of squiggled them out; I knew you would be proud of me for the quick thinking.)

advice from mom

address book

Under G is my Google Password, and all my contacts with the people at Gladys Taber, my Gmail and Goodreads Passwords too.  Under S, I have web addresses for all the online places I like to Shop, passwords and usernames for shoes and sweaters and art supplies (sometimes I cross-reference and put art supplies under A, or U for Utrecht); under P, I have my Pinterest and Paypal account numbers . . . under C I have my Computer fix-it people, my Credit Card account numbers and contacts, and so on. I can pack this book up and take it with me no matter where I go! Very handy don’t you think? SO much better than my previous way of doing it.

address book

I thought maybe this was something you might want to do. And, just in case you don’t have an old address book lying around . . .

watercolor flowers

address book

I do!  Two in fact, you can choose! You like yellow?  We have yellow.  You like blue? We have blue!

Both come complete with alphabet tabs . . .

They’re both in full color, binder style, they come with lots of pages. I blow on my fingernails, polish them on my sweater, say to myself, Brilliant!  It makes me feel good to be organized.

address books

And if you like it too, I have something for you!

A new drawing for these two “Internet Address Books,” one for our lucky winner, and one for the lucky winner to give away to her lucky friend! All you have to do is leave a comment and you’ll be entered into the drawing.  (NOTE: If the blog is mailed to you, you might not see a place to leave a comment, go directly to www.162.240.10.175/~susanbs3/susanbranch/, scroll to the bottom of this post, look for the tiny word “Comments” at the very end in tiny grey letters, click there to comment so you’re entered into the drawing.)  Vanna (she’s our virtual in-house Game Girl and “random number generator,” although she would hate to be called this) is on high alert, ready to do her job in a few days, to choose the winner.

So here in Smallville, all is well, even though it’s freezing outside . . .

And everything is coated in this crisp frozen-on snow crust . . .

The wind whistles and the shutters bang and ice crystals grace all our upstairs windows ~

Inside Smallville, it’s 72°, it’s organized (within reason) and as flowery and summer-like as  I need it to be while I paint for our new 2016 calendars.

  1. Nancy S. Valley Forge, PA says:

Was just taking a break from de-Christmas-ing the house, and feeling a little blue, but here was your lovely post! Now I feel energized to organize! Thanks, Susan, from one “Smallville” to another!

  2. Jean says:

What a wonderful gift to offer! I certainly need it because those little pieces of paper I have in random places are not doing the trick. Even if I don’t win I will certainly use this idea. I so love your blog and books.

  3. Judy says:

Love your books, drawings and print. Staying warm in Indianapolis.

  4. Lisa R (Arizona) says:

Fantastic idea Susan! Would love your beautiful address books. ♥ I too, love living in Smallville. You have described it perfectly. We can occasionally drive to the city for the day, but love coming back up the mountain to our country home, where I kick off my shoes, and read 162.240.10.175/~susanbs3/susanbranch/, or The Best of Stillmeadow. You have now inspired me to clean my cupboards, too. First thing tomorrow morning!

  5. Lorraine says:

What a perfectly brilliant idea! This definitely falls into the category of, “why didn’t I think of that?” I have all my passwords, credit card info, etc in a file, on all different kinds of paper and it takes forever find what I’m looking for. Oh my, this would make my life so much easier. I would love to win one, but will buy one if not. Thank you, thank you, thank you from another Smallville resident.

  6. Joy says:

Brillant is right, I also need to redo my old address book. Yours are the best!

  7. jane says:

Oh, pick me, pick me! I LOVE this idea — and I, too, have four pages, front and back, sideways, scribbled out, splattered and messy, that is for websites and passwords. And I, truly, am a very neat and organized person who gets her inspiration, nearly daily, from Y-O-U and this would work so well with all of the other Susan Branch stuff. Another drawing – YIPEE.

  8. Elaine in Toronto says:

Hi Susan, my your glasses are pretty and they do sparkle. I just finished cleaning the top shelf of my fridge – so many mystery containers, lol. It looks so nice when I open the door that I just want to stand there and admire it. I’ll do the rest of it tomorrow. Great idea to use a phone book for all the techie stuff we need. I need to do my address/phone book over as well but I promise if I win, I will still give one to a friend. Good luck to everyone and thank you Susan for cheering up a rather grey, very cold day here in Toronto.

  9. Sandy says:

What a wonderful idea! My book for passwords right now is simply a spiral notebook, NOT alphabetical, pages falling out. One of your delightful address books would be perfect!

  10. Jolene says:

Happy New Year, and thanks for the chance to win

  11. Pam Rudzki says:

Susan, what a fabulous idea! I have been using a spiral notebook, adding to & crossing out. I’m going to start looking in my craft room (because you never know what you might find) to see if I have an old address book. Or i will look for one on my next shopping trip. (Just in case Miss Vanna does not draw my name.)
Thanks again for solving an organization problem!

  12. Denise says:

    Brilliant idea!

  13. Sandy Bloomer says:

    Dear Susan:

My password book is such a wreck, thank heavens for your wonderful idea.
I started putting my passwords in by Susan Branch Calendar on a back sheet of paper that I attached to my calendar, however, I always have to turn the calendar over every time I look up a password and of course they are not alphabetized. I am going to try to do better in 2015 girlfriend. Love your blog… stay well and happy

  14. Kathleen V. from MI says:

I laughed out loud when I read about your 4 pages of scribbled user names and passwords. I have the same thing. Been thinking of putting them all in alphabetical order, and now I know where I would like to write them! Thanks for the great idea.

  15. Cheryl says:

Ahh…a new year, and ALWAYS a good opportunity for organization. I do tend to resist organization, so your darling address book would be a great nudge to move me forward! Happy New Year Susan Branch!!! Always love your inspiration. <3

  16. Kathy O in GA says:

Oh pick me pretty please! I very much need to do this (have been meaning to but keep procrastinating)…I can barely read my falling apart pages of smudged pencil writing!

  17. Jere says:

This is a great way to get organized for 2015!

  18. Judy says:

What a great idea! Your blog is my favorite! I really love your style! Thank you!

  19. Debbie says:

I was just thinking to myself that a new address book would be far better than the ratty notebook that currently has my password information. I hope to be lucky! I admire your energy to clean & organize. I welcomed the New Year with a bad head cold and just can’t get myself motivated to do much of anything!

  20. JoAnn in SoCal says:

Deeply feeling the sadness of the terrorism in Paris. Thank you for your post, Susan.

    • sbranch says:

I think we all are, it’s heartbreaking, I was having a time out.

      • JoAnn in SoCal says:

        Yes. I understand.

      • Ann Y in PA says:

Much needed time out…it is so sad – for such a beautiful city. We were lucky enough to travel to Paris last summer, and it is our favorite city. Through my tears I am thinking that France and Paris made it through WWII and the terror of the Nazis…with our prayers they will make it through this madness as well. God bless –

        • sbranch says:

Our prayers will help because we really are them. We’re in it together. xoxo

          • Janet in Rochester says:

I am SO looking for a “Like” button here! On 100s of other comments too. On this whole website actually… :>)

  21. Ann Y in PA says:

What a great idea….I would LOVE to win one ! That is a task on my to do list…as all my passwords and usernames are on little post it notes that are now NOT sticking to the back of my mouse pad. This would be wonderful ! Thank you for the chance to win and the idea ! Stay warm, drink tea, read, and enjoy Smallville….doing the same here !

  22. Riri McCorduck says:

My certified organic, furry, lap warmer (her name is Cymbeline) and I would truly, sincerely love to be more organized. We would love Vanna to choose us (ooh, ooh my hand is raised and waving). However, mea culpa, we will most likely just sit here with our cup of latte (me) and crunchy kitty treats (me…kidding, her) reading our extensive library of Susan B. goodness and dishes be danged!

  23. Nancy West says:

I have 2 of your address books. One is several years old, the other is “very” old. I love your idea for organizing all these numbers. I hope I win..

  24. Jan in Ontario says:

How did you know I was in an organizing mood? Recovering from strep throat has left me with a lot of time and not much energy. Getting all my information in one place would be something I can handle. At least I get to stay in out of the blustery weather with my 2 cuddly dogs…no cats here, sorry. Always excited to see Susan Branch Blog in my email. 🙂

  25. hope DeMarco says:

    I Am SOOOO unorganized!

  26. Cathy Obbema says:

Brilliant! I think I really need this!! Too many pieces of paper scattered everywhere with my info on it and mixed up on my beading table where I make my jewelry just makes for too much chaos!!

Happy New Year and thanks for making my days brighter with your blog!

  27. Jo Ann F. says:

This is a brilliant idea for keeping passwords organized. I have the same four sheets of paper! Thanks for the chance to win, and Happy New Year!

  28. Carol Leonard says:

What a brilliant idea to use an address book for password, etc. I love it…and I would love it even more if I could enter my information in a blue Susan Branch address book!!!!

  29. Megan says:

Ah, smallville, I live there myself in the cold mountains of northern New England.
Lovely idea with the address books. Win or loose I’m going to do this. Peace!

  30. Marianne says:

Love organization! So frustrating to be without a password when you need it…

  31. Jessica D. says:

What lovely address books! I’d pick blue!

  32. Gail Buss says:

Hi Susan…………………..I love those address books. Yellow and blue are my favorite colors……………perfect! I love Smallville too!~ What a quaint name for it. I forgot to tell you I bought your cute Gingerbread man banner and it looks so cute hanging up under the cabinet by my Beleek teapots. So dear! And so easy to store away for next year! Also finally got the heart in the home cookie cutters…….So cute. Love it! Thanks for all you do! Hugs to you, Gail xoxo

    • sbranch says:

Happy to hear that Gail! Secret just between us . . . the Valentine’s Banners that Janie made for us are actually up, and hiding under “Parties” in the web store, if you’d like to see them. I’m going to tell everyone in the next post. Our girlfriends first.

  33. Brenda R says:

    Great idea. Hope I win.

  34. Lisa says:

    Excellent idea!

  35. Diane T. says:

When I check email and see that you have sent a new post, I feel like I have truly just received a gift and can’t wait to open it! Thank you for sharing so much and for keeping focused on what is really important in life!

  36. Steph D says:

    GAH! That kitten! Too cute.

  37. Fran Vella says:

What a great idea. My passwords and user names are on dozens of pieces of paper all clipped together. I will be passing on this idea to others. Thank you for your wonderful blogs. Because of you I’ve joined Gladys Taber’s Friends Group and spent the holidays re-reading about Stillmeadow. I also enjoy following the seasons on Martha’s Vineyard and especially loved following the Nantucket trip last summer. Still trying to figure out what part of the island you stayed.

  38. What a neat idea!!!! I would love to have the opportunity to win!!!! Thank you!

  39. I just adore your work and treasure my books by you! I would luuuuuvvvv to win the address books!

  40. Barb says:

I love this idea and also the address books! I had to laugh when I read your filing system (M for Mom, S for shopping instead of the specific stores). I do the same in our address book and it drives my husband crazy (file my kids’ info under their first names)! I currently use a roll-a-dex for our passwords, but this is a much better (and prettier) idea!

  41. Gale Harris says:

I don’t want to double-comment, but in case mine was on an earlier post, I just wanted to say that I love your perspective on small things. Because I’m not very organized, your address book would come in VERY handy!

  42. Oh please enter me! I spent twenty minutes this morning trying to remember the password to log in to pay for my child’s hot school lunch program. I was kicked off of the site for trying too many times and ended up writing a check. I hope she remembered to turn it in!

  43. Joy Brady says:

Love the idea, missed reading your blog when you were away.

  44. Charlene T says:

What a great idea! I feel the need to get more organized now. Susan I’m curious how you store any flat artwork? I’m using two sheets of cardboard to sandwich my drawings together

    • sbranch says:

I keep most of my artwork in thick plastic envelopes and stack them in labeled boxes (like the pages of a book). But I don’t do anything on really large paper.

  45. Sandy from New Vineyard says:

Another inspiring and refreshing blog! I love my Smallville, too! Those “little” things become the most meaningful sometimes.

  46. Joy Pence from Smallville Ohio says:

I like the partial quote at the top of one of your pages from Mark Twain….Naked people have influence on society…..that cracked me up.
I love living in Smallville. Thank you for the lovely post. I love looking at your beautiful dishes. The address books are a great idea.

    • sbranch says:

It’s really “Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society!” 🙂

  47. Patricia says:

    Helloy out there in Smallville!
What a great idea! Seventy-two degrees and organized too!
Out here in California I am inspired to de-clutter and organize. Christmas is put away and the garden catalogs are arriving. Best to organize a little and then reward myself with a cup of tea and the latest garden wish book.
    Blessings

  48. Alex from S.C. says:

    Hey Susan,

I can’t see my first comment posted. :/

In short, I love you and your *magical* world. Just ask my sweet hubby. <3

  49. Grace says:

What a great way to organize all my passwords! Your flower paintings reminded me that with each winter day we are one day closer to Spring. Stay warm and cosy by the fire.

  50. Aloyce Levin says:

Perfect blog post, with perfect timing!
    Thank you as always,
Aloyce aka another dweller in Smallville

  51. Grace says:

Oops – meant stay warm and cozy by the fire.

  52. Lisa from Connecticut says:

Hi Susan, I just wanted to let you know that I have been reading all of your posts, I just haven’t commented in a while. I loved your Downton Abbey post!!! Please enter me in your Internet Address Book giveaway. I would love to have the book to write all my email addresses and passwords in. Right now all I have is a 2 sided piece of lined paper that has all my passwords. It is watermarked and kind of hard to read, with blotches and scratch outs all over it. Thank you!!!

  53. Karen S says:

Would love to win an address book. Your work is beautiful.

    Karen

  54. Debbie Sowards says:

    Hi Susan,
I too have pages and pages of my passwords and other important “stuff” on alphabetized pages but this would be sooooo much better! I wouldn’t have
thought of it on my own and I love this idea! Love your post. Stay warm!

  55. BlissfulBabs says:

The blue on is beautiful! I love “getting organized” days!

  56. Lori Montgomery says:

I love your address books and would be so excited to win! Love your blog and your kitties too!

  57. Teresa says:

I love your address book idea. I have no system whatsoever for passwords, so I must get myself organized. It is a good feeling. I am so happy to see more frequent posting this month. I know you have been busy and away, but we miss you and look forward to hopefully more frequent posts. You write about such wonderful-ness!

  58. I already own the lovely yellow address book. A miracle happened this Christmas and I actually transferred addresses out of outdated books, and off of scrap pieces of paper into the book I’ve owned for over a year. I feel sooo accomplished. I would love a matching book for all of my internet info. Here in the Midwest our temperatures are dipping below 0, so these are perfect chores for very cold winter days. One of the joys for these winter days are finding a new blog from you. Please feel free to write as many as you can, as often as you can!

  59. Patricia Rossiter says:

Great idea, Susan, for such a cooollld January day. My 4 kitties and I wish you a very Happy 2015. Just finishing up “A Fine Romance”! I absolutely love it. Going to try some of your suggested authors this year too! You are indeed an inspiration! My very best to you and Joe, Jack and Girl!!

  60. Lorraine from White Plains, NY says:

Great Idea! And I want a kitty, too! But, I’m allergic. Sometimes, though, I think it would be worth the itchy eyes and runny nose… There is supposed to be one cat – the ones that look like tigers? – that many people who are allergic to cats are not allergic to — I think. Anyone know for sure…?

    • sbranch says:

I don’t, but I would Google it. While you’re there, there’s supposed to be something you sprinkle in a cat’s food that makes them NOT be allergic! I’m not sure about that either, but I would look at it and talk to a vet.

    • RobinLynn says:

Lorraine, here is a site listing the best cats for people who are allergic to cats. In my house 2 people are allergic to cats but we have a Calico (a Tortie) and she does not cause too much problem. We vacuum a lot and brush her often. She does not like baths but when we do give her one, the allergies are less noticeable. Good luck to you in your search for a furry family member. You will not regret it. <3

  61. Grammy says:

Hello from Central CA! Would love the address books to keep and share – great idea.

  62. Shawn says:

Great organization idea. I need this so much…..thanks for the chance to win

  63. How sweet of you! What a great way to start the new year! Happy New year to you! Hugs, Diane from Florida

  64. Niki says:

LOVE the address books and the idea! <3

  65. Heather H. says:

Oh this would be SO much more fun than the giant spreadsheet I maintain on my computer! Thanks for the giveaway, Susan!

    • sbranch says:

I always thought that having my passwords on my computer would defeat the secrecy part of it, and if my computer was stolen, then I would have no way to get to all my places when I got a new one. Of course if my computer gets stolen, bury me deep right then.

  66. Kay Mc says:

I really need these address books to keep all of my passwords organized. I have all kinds of little pieces of paper with different passwords written on them & need a better system.

  67. Donna says:

What a wonderful idea!! Now I can get rid of my tattered stack of index cards. I so look forward to all your blogs….. They’re little surprise gifts that always brighten up my day.

  68. Oh, what fun! I love organizing especially before a whole new project!
    Stay warm.

  69. Judy C in NC says:

Someone somewhere along my stroll through life told me that a short pencil was better than a long memory. My first password/user name book was a tiny, 2″ x 3″ address book. Well, I can hardly read it now and I love your idea to compile our valuable information in a larger book with indexes. Organization is what January is all about for me, besides being my birthday month. What a wonderful present if I were to win, so please include me for your drawing, I need a new book and if it was a Susan Branch one, that would be the icing on the cake for me and the best birthday every. Judy C

  70. Mary Ann Doornbos says:

    Hiya Susan & “Vanna”,
I’m hoping to win the flowery book, and get organized, too! 71 days till Spring!

  71. Jean says:

I love Smallville, too and I would love to win your address books. I love anything Susan Branch!

  72. Gayle says:

Love the whole Smallville idea! And your address book idea is fabulous! Thanks for the inspiration!

  73. Claudia says:

I do somewhat the same thing, but things have been scratched out and crossed out as I changed passwords and I don’t have alphabetized tabs! I’d love one!

    xo
    Claudia

  74. Eleanor E says:

What a pretty way to get organized with websites + the passwords. great for keeping track of personal info also. Hope I win!

  75. Janet in Rochester says:

Currently have all my phone numbers, websites, user names & passwords stored on the “Contacts” tab of my iCloud account. But it sure can’t hurt to have a paper record too – in case of “catastrophic computer failure.” Great idea to use paper address book. PS – I learned in a digital self-defense class at my university that it’s better to record “hints” – than only you would know – rather than the passwords themselves. For example – if you use your husband’s birthday as a password for something, write “J’s dob” instead of the date itself. Hope this is helpful…

    • sbranch says:

Never use the CCF words here . . . shuddering from the fright of it. “Digital self defense!” Wow. I am so tricky with my passwords now, they make no sense at all. Here’s an example: ^rBj4!zNp2# Aren’t I tricky? But of course I trick myself right out of the possibility of a hint!

      • Janet in Rochester says:

It’s good to have a “very random” password but very tough to have a hint for it! But you can do this: memorize your random password and then ADD something to it that you CAN have a hint for. Example – I have a 9-character “standard” password [just like your “^rBj4!zNp2#”] and then add things, like our phone number when I was a little kid etc [so old it had letters in it – LOL]. So I’d write “standard + home phone” in my password book. There are also websites where you can test the strength of your password [google “password tester”]. Just be careful to enter only the “standard” part of your password when you test…

  76. bobbie Calgaro says:

How did you know that I need a new address book? You must have read my mind. Great idea for organizing things in it. And i love Smallville too.

  77. Pat Salada says:

I sure would like to win the address books. I have promised myself to
re-do our old one that is falling apart and has become tattered and smudged.

  78. Pamela Hoops says:

Every new post is an inspiration from you. You definitely had your “thinking cap” on in regards to re-purposing an address book. It’s even better if it’s a wonderful address book from you! Hugs and thank yous for all the love and warmth you share.
P.S. I’ve been studying the moon every night trying to get better educated on waxing and waning!

  79. Ellen Geeslin says:

I adore the blog! I also agree that Downton Abbey is the best thing to ever happen to television! It’s cold here in Chattanooga, but nothing like the beautiful snowy scenery you have. Keep up that wonderful blogging! Thanks, Ellen

    • sbranch says:

      Thank you Ellen!

Thank you Everyone . . . can’t answer everyone today, but I’m reading them all and you are wonderful Girlfriends, so much fun to see how everyone keeps track of things!

  80. CindyN says:

I would love to get organized like you Susan! I would choose the yellow address book (however I only see the pink in it…my favorite color). And I thought the same thing while watching the season premier of Downton Abbey – Violet’s home is the one I would choose too.

  81. Mary Ann says:

What a wonderful idea! I am a new subcriber , but have loved your books for years!

  82. Samantha says:

What a super idea…I could use it for all of my personal account usernames/passwords AND all of my work ones too!! It seems there are even more work ones than personal ones! You are fantastic for suggesting such wonderful ideas. Thank you, Susan, and Happy New Year to you and all the Girlfriends. Here’s to a fresh, organized start to 2015!

  83. Evelyn Silvas says:

Thank you for the lovely post and the chance to be “super-duper- organized!”.

  84. Eileen says:

    I wish I
thought of this myself as I also have tattered papers with passwords, etc. written all over them……….I am “semi-organized” so I would have just bumbled along with my worn papers and never thought to put them in a “book”——-Thanks to you, Susan, for this great idea!

  85. Jenny Ranz says:

I just love, love, love your idea for organizing passwords and important info! Brilliant! I hope I am the lucky winner so I can do this too 🙂

I hope you are staying warm in Smallville!
    Jenny

I look forward to each and every one of your posts!!! Always a bright spot in my
day. Thank you for the chance to win your beautiful address books. What a wonderful idea to organize all the little pieces of SECRET information!!!!!

  87. Lori says:

I would love to live in Smallville, too. I think I will move there.
Love your address books, too, and what a great idea!
    thank you

  88. Jerri Wheeler says:

Ok, Sue…how did you know that I desperately need a new address book???? Hurry and pick me before I loose that new year momentum to “get it together”! I must do something with those scraps of paper with my password info. What a mess in my middle desk drawer! You hold the key to my organization. If I must, I will purchase one and then what about all of my recipes stuffed in a basket? What next, Sue? I need an intervention soon. HELP ME!

LOL! You probably have to write a cookbook! I’ve found that a very good way to keep my recipes organized!

  89. Linda Bedson says:

I love Smallville, too. Wordsworth wrote, “The world is too much with us,” back in the late 1700’s or early 1800’s. Imagine what he would think now!

  90. Sandie says:

Great idea! I would love to win either one :-). I love seeing your blog in my mailbox! We also have a tuxedo cat so I enjoy seeing Jack’s antics.

  91. Pam Bradley says:

Smallville … love it! I have “Bradleyville” … it’s a little cluster of homes down in a canyon below me … I pretend it’s my little village, and my sister, Rhonda Hagen and I … call it Bradleyville … your definition of Smallville is perfect … just like your blog posts … always a breath of fresh air … and I mean FRESH RELAXING air … no matter what I’m doing, how crazy busy I am at work, I take time out to have a “breath of fresh air” Susan Branch MOMENT … and the day is just perfect afterwards! Thanks for being such a “good friend” to us busy gals out there … somehow you have mastered the art of “relaxation and common sense” … thanks for being YOU! As for the ADDRESS BOOKS … I would be sharing with my wonderful sis, Rhonda!

  92. Sue Graham says:

Thanks for the chance to win – someday I will. 🙂 I love hearing you love winter. So do I, and my friends think I’m nuts. There’s nothing as mind-clearing as a very cold winter morning.

  93. Tina Mandeville says:

Hi, Susan…..It has been such a busy start to the new year! I often feel like these first couple of weeks are like a “launching pad” for the rest of the months yet to come. But here it is Friday again and I am feeling quite accomplished! I loved catching up on your recent blog posts and I have to say…..I love your “Smallville”. I love my “Smallville” and I can only imagine each of the ladies here love their “Smallville”, too, because we are all kindred hearts and we are all in this together. The same things make us smile and make our hearts sing! There is nothing more important than “Smallville”. There is nothing better than the fuss we get to make in “Smallville” as it is all about heart and home – and there is nothing more important than that!

  94. Rebecca says:

What a fantastic idea! I have been putting all my passwords in a plain booklet and then when I go to look for a particular password I can never find it cause there are so many that I have added over the years. Time to get organized for sure and the address book is the smartest way to go. Thank you for the idea!

  95. Christine says:

What a great idea!! Love your post.. We are having a group to our house Sunday so we have been cleaning and dusting also. Certainly not as cold here!! about 64 🙂

  96. Suzanne C. says:

Oh Susan, You get another gold star for this idea. I have been thinking about doing something to get things down where if you have a senior moment your info is at your finger tips. So today will start compiling the information to enter into the correct books I will win….. Thanks again…Girlfriend Love,
    Suzanne

  97. Susan K. says:

I have the best intentions to get organized, but it never seems to happen. That’s what I planned to do when I retired– clean out closets , drawers, etc. But here it is one year later and nothing has changed. It’s probably because I’m so easily distracted when something more fun sounding comes along! Well, I would just love to have one of your address books. I do so love cute little books!
By the way, I found the Bargain of the Year yesterday. A Royal Albert BP Tom Kitten figurine for $5. YIPPPEEE!

  98. Betty says:

Just thinking that I need a new address book (use it for Christmas card list – the old fashioned way)! Would like to be the lucky person!

  99. Cindy aka Gramma CC says:

Oh Susan! I just giggled with delight @ your address book! I had my eye on that cute blue one with the wonderful vintage phone on it & finally finally finally! found it on Amazon! But when I saw your blot I immediately thought of my sister Vicki who needs the lovely yellow one! So please pick me! & & & here is a wonderful word you can weave into a blot post or calendar….ready? Here it is! Whimsical! Isn’t it just the best word? I love how it sounds when I say it & I do my very best ‘Susan Branch’ imitation when writing it. Ahhhh! This is truly the life!

I love Smallville. I could move there anytime my world gets busy! Thank you for your posts. I look forward to Fridays because I know I can read a small story! I also learn everything I read a post. I didn’t know you were suppose to keep cats inside for two years. I had the perfect cat for 18 years and then my husband got a dog and I haven’t had the heart to get another cat because I feel like I had the true cat love of my life in Smokey! Give Jacks big hugs from Bakersfield, CA.
