Hello from Smallville!

“Hello,” as my dad says, “from Smallville!”  ‘Cause that’s where I live too.  And I like it lit the firehere.  Sometimes the world just seems too big ~ but the bigger it gets, the smaller I get ~ because here in Smallville,  it’s always a nice day. There’s plenty to do in Smallville too … it’s not a boring place.

Things that don’t count in the big world are EVERYTHING here.  When the world tries to get into Smallville and upset the smallness, I shut it out, turn on the MUSICA (listening to this now), light a fire (hearing it crackle), watch the birds busy at the feeders (peep-peep), and do what needs to be done.

toxic world

doing dishes

Like cleaning shelves. Nothing more common sense than this, sometimes it needs to be done.  I give myself a sense of purpose and accomplishment by getting the cooking juices off yellow glasswaremy shelves with a hot soapy cloth; washing dishes (I wash the ones with gold trim on them by hand) and putting them back on the shelves, shiny and clean.  Standing back and looking at my handiwork and saying, “ahhhh, look at that sparkle!”  I’m always happiest when my corner of the world is clean and organized and a new year for me always includes organization, which my mom says, is the key to success.

doing dishes

Some of the dishes are washed by hand, and these just came out of the dishwasher.

doing dishes

It’s before dawn and my audience is very quiet, just waking up, she pussyfoots around.  No loud applause.  Just purring.

And speaking of organization . . .

address book

The other thing I wanted to share with you is an organizing thing that has turned out to be SO GOOD I had to tell you about it.  I had this old (no longer in print) unused address book lying around, so I grabbed it and turned it into a brand new thing.

address book

It’s now my “Internet Address and Password Log Book.”  Before I thought of this, I had all my notewebsites and passwords written, but not alphabetized, on four pieces of paper (adding more pages all the time) that got limper and more tattered and worn by the day; torn on the fold and messy with additions and pencil smears ~ I would have to “re-do” the whole thing every so often.

address book

Now I have a real book I can put everything in. Like here, under C, the phone number and email address for Customer Service at my Studio.

watercolor flowers

address book

It’s a hard-cover book with alphabet tabs that keep everything I need right at my fingertips.

organization

For instance, under M, for Mom, here are all the websites, user names and passwords I need in order to pay my mom’s bills online.  There are copies of her two credit cards, in case I need them. (These pages look a lot better in real life than they do in these photos ~ I didn’t think it would be very smart for me to show the world my passwords so I sort of squiggled them out; I knew you would be proud of me for the quick thinking.)

advice from mom

address book

Under G is my Google Password, and all my contacts with the people at Gladys Taber, my Gmail and Goodreads Passwords too.  Under S, I have web addresses for all the online places I like to Shop, passwords and usernames for shoes and sweaters and art supplies (sometimes I cross-reference and put art supplies under A, or U for Utrecht); under P, I have my Pinterest and Paypal account numbers . . . under C I have my Computer fix-it people, my Credit Card account numbers and contacts, and so on. I can pack this book up and take it with me no matter where I go! Very handy don’t you think? SO much better than my previous way of doing it.

address book

I thought maybe this was something you might want to do. And, just in case you don’t have an old address book lying around . . .

address book

I do!  Two in fact, you can choose! You like yellow?  We have yellow.  You like blue? We have blue!

Both come complete with alphabet tabs . . .

They’re both in full color, binder style, they come with lots of pages. I blow on my fingernails, polish them on my sweater, say to myself, Brilliant!  It makes me feel good to be organized.

address books

And if you like it too, I have something for you!

A new drawing for these two “Internet Address Books,” one for our lucky winner, and one for the lucky winner to give away to her lucky friend! All you have to do is leave a comment and you’ll be entered into the drawing.  (NOTE: If the blog is mailed to you, you might not see a place to leave a comment, go directly to www.162.240.10.175/~susanbs3/susanbranch/, scroll to the bottom of this post, look for the tiny word “Comments” at the very end in tiny grey letters, click there to comment so you’re entered into the drawing.)  Vanna (she’s our virtual in-house Game Girl and “random number generator,” although she would hate to be called this) is on high alert, ready to do her job in a few days, to choose the winner.

So here in Smallville, all is well, even though it’s freezing outside . . .

And everything is coated in this crisp frozen-on snow crust . . .

The wind whistles and the shutters bang and ice crystals grace all our upstairs windows ~

Inside Smallville, it’s 72°, it’s organized (within reason) and as flowery and summer-like as  I need it to be while I paint for our new 2016 calendars.

  1. Debbie K. says:

I still use an address book ( just finished with it doing my Christmas cards ). I even have my grandmother’s address book. I kept it for a while because of all the distant family addresses, but 25 years after my grandmother’s death most are no longer relevant. I hold on to it now because it is written in her hand. It and a few of her recipes cards hold high honors with me.

  2. What a smart idea! I would love to use one of your beautiful address books – my internet usernames/passwords! Please enter me in the drawing, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed tight!

  3. Cathy says:

What a good idea for the address books. I will just need to remember to write in pencil for all those times when the links change 🙂

  4. Cindy Tuning says:

Yikes!! We are on the same page so often it’s downright scary! When you’re having a giveaway I don’t like to leave a comment because you have sooo many to go through that I feel I’m just adding to the stack but I couldn’t resist. I have your same address book from “back in the day” and have been using it for many years. Last night, after not being able to log on to Netflix,I told Ted we have to get a bigger dedicated book for all these passwords. The tiny one we’ve been using is beyond full and tattered with cross outs. I’ve been washing, dusting, fluffing and re-arranging everything in site the last few days partly because that’s what I do following New Years but mostly because nothing else seems all that pressing right now. Lots of snow, wind and cold outside but cozy warm in our nest. An impeccably groomed nest for a while anyway.

  5. Sharon H says:

Love your blog Susan and what a great idea for the address books for your passwords. Mine are scattered here, there and everywhere, so I’d love to win the address books. No more searching my cluttered desk for the right one….. And I am a Downton Abbey fan, too. Can’t get enough of it! For Christmas my son-in-law bought my daughter the Department 56 lighted Highclere Castle — it’s gorgeous. And I was able to actually find a bottle of wine with the Downton Abbey label —- not sure how the wine will taste, but I don’t think she’ll care, she’s just happy to have that label on the bottle! Thank you for such a wonderful blog Susan and Happy New Year! hugs from Sharon

  6. Lynne Ward Wallace says:

I love all of your publications and order calendars every year. I would love to win these great address books. Thank you so much for the opportunity!

    Stay warm!

  7. Julie says:

What a great idea….thanks, Susan. The blue is my favorite, but all of your work is so amazing.
🙂 The start of a new year is a great time to get more organized….I am anxiously awaiting for your 2015 calendar to arrive in my mail….better late than never, I always say:-) 🙂 🙂 🙂 brrrrr….20 degrees here in MO…THANKS FOR THE WARMTH IN YOUR BLOG!

  8. Donna G says:

Looks like that address book re-purpose works great! Good idea, and thanks for the giveaway!

  9. Jeanne says:

Lots of cold and snowy days here! So it is a great time to get myself organized; thanks for the wonderful idea!

  10. Laurie says:

There’s just something comforting about having all of your family and friends together in an address book!

  11. Terry says:

Love the two address books! Great idea!

  12. Terry says:

Love the address books! Great idea!

  13. Wendy says:

Your blog and your books are wonderful! I discovered the Gladys Taber fan club through your website, and signed up my mother and myself. As for my passwords, etc., they are on random scrapes of paper piled on my desk! Not a good system at all.

  14. Cynthia Avalos says:

I love everything you do! The address books are cute!
Wish I could take Jack home with me! I want a cat badly, but just not possible right now!

  15. Carol Eide says:

Love the quote from your mother, “Organization is the key to success.” I just recopied my tattered password sheets. An address book is much better idea. Thanks for sharing.

  16. Charlene Brummitt says:

Thanks for the opportunity to win. It is a great idea for the address book. I will definitely do that. Believe it are not I am making your cranberry sauce as I write this and read your blog. Also just received your Autumn book and it of course is wonderful. Happy New Year.

  17. Cathy McCann in Vermont says:

Thank you so much for Downton info. Love it so much. My husband went to the library yesterday to pick up The World of Downton Abbey, the Secrets and History Unlocked. I couldn’t go out in the terrible cold. It would be glorious to win those lovely address books. I looked all over the place to try to buy the one with the vintage phone. I was so desperate to own a 1940s dial phone that I bought a couple of the reproductions that are out there. One in living room placed where I can see it at all times. The other one in bedroom to gaze at…..
I am so in love with your book A Fine Romance, it is placed next to living room 1940s phone so I can reach for it any time. Love all you do dear Susan.

    • sbranch says:

They are darling, I agree, so black and graphically interesting. I love that my book is sitting next to one! They belong together!

  18. Carol from CT says:

Susie I can’t find a copy of your desk blotter 2015 calendar to purchase
anywhere! Not north, not south, not east nor west! Where did they all go? Help!
I have the smudgy paper tucked into my computer too. It’s bad…I mean really bad. Guess what! I asked my family for a pair of tap shoes for Christmas and they came in the mail today. I’m so excited! I purchased a big, big, big piece of masonite (Lowe’s) as my dance floor. And away I go … TAPPITY TAP … TAPPITY TAP … TAPPITY TAPPITY TAPPITY TAP! Put on the music and move and tap. YAHOO! This is aerobic exercise par excellence! Gets your heart rate goin’. Just MOVE! Ohhhhhh TIPPITY TAP … TIPPITY TAP … TIPPITY TIPPITY TIPPITY TAP !!! (Try it to ‘Bandstand Boogie’ a la Barry Manilow youtube.com/watch?v=FTXWf2_H0FI) Can you hear my shoes?
    Love, Carol … tra la

    • Carol from CT says:

Susie I think you should try tappin’ with your girlfriends at one of your tea parties! WAHOO ! tra la

    • sbranch says:

They sold out Carol, all gone! More next year though. Tap shoes! How fabulous. I love that noise, even if you can’t tap, you sound good. I can hear you from here.

  19. Jennifer A says:

I love hearing about all the kitty stories, and the inspirational tasks re: cleaning and switching out china/decorations. Hope winter is treating you well, and that your new projects are coming along smashingly. 🙂

  20. Diane Scharf says:

I had a teeny book for my passwords long ago but it became overwhelmed and quit the job. This looks much more manageable. Thanks, Diane

  21. SusanA says:

If we didn’t have allergies, I’d have a kitty in an instant. That’s one of the (many) reasons I love to come here–to gaze at your two beauties and send them virtual love.

  22. Kathy R says:

Hi Susan, Happy New Year! I would love to be entered in your drawing for the address books. I have it on my to-do list to re-do mine. It amazes me how many people have moved, changed names, and sadly, passed away. I haven’t updated for a while and need to. Thanks also, for continuing to give us glimpses of your world, it’s beauty, and it’s people and pets.

  23. Patty says:

What a creative use for a beautiful address book! All pertinent information located in an easy-to-care binder. I love it!!!

  24. Sandi Evans says:

Hi Susan, I love seeing your lovely pictures. Especially of the snow.
I just wanted to say, what a great idea to use the address book for passwords.
    Genius! Love it.

    Thanks,

    Sandi in AZ

  25. RobinLynn says:

Thank you Susan for this wonderful post and giveaway. I think I will have to hold a contest or something to see which of my 8 Susan Branch Pen Pals to send them to. I loved visiting Smallville when I was there is 2011 and can’t wait to come back for another visit. Maybe I will see you or Joe out in the garden. Wouldn’t that be grand. Have a wonderful weekend and I hope to see you next time you are in Cali. Hugs from the Petals <3

  26. I love hearing about your new (again ) books like your address book . When they are not in use , they sit there and look oh so pretty ! Your many beautiful cookbooks are always on display in in my kitchen in an old , battered , open front kitchen cupboard along with my favorite apple dishes and bric-a-brac . This is my interpretation of something you might do ! I sure like your style !!!

  27. Cheryl says:

    absolutely love this idea !! . . . so happy you thought of it !! . . .

  28. Victoria Robertson says:

4 degrees in Nashville, TN. ! A great time to hunker down with a pot of tea and a PROJECT!

  29. Pat V says:

There isn’t a book in the world that will get me organized, I bet I would lose it!

  30. Mary says:

I much prefer Smallville to. Thanks for the sweet post

  31. Gaylene from San Jose says:

You continue to inspire and cheer me. And it would be hard to choose between the two . . . everything you do is sooo cute!

  32. Angela Camacho says:

I love all of your items!! My daughter and I got to meet you in Pasadena this past year!

  33. Eileen says:

I was thinking, “What a clever idea to use an address book for internet information!” You are so smart. At this time I also have several slips of paper with assorted user names and passwords on them, so changed so many times, I’m not sure which is the current one. This sounds like such a great way to use an address book these days. Thank you, Susan.

  34. Barbara in NC says:

Enjoy your cosyness with Kitties while you can! I love organizing and cleaning after Christmas, too!

  35. Janet Duff says:

What a great post! It has really cheered up my day! My grandfather passed away on the 2nd. He was 9 days away from his 93rd birthday. He and my grandmother were married for nearly 73 years. Their anniversary is on the 24th. My dad has been in the hospital having the upper lobe of his left lung removed because of cancer. Thanks for making me smile and motivating to get busy doing something positive. Thank you again and God bless you and Joe and the kitties…….:)

  36. Cathy A. says:

Love the idea of an address book to organize all of that info. Something I have been meaning to do. Happy New Year Susan from one Smallville lover to another!

  37. Lacy says:

Love to organize at the beginning of the new year! It’s such a good feeling to have everything clean & in the proper place.

If I should be so lucky to win one of your lovely address books. I would be happy with either color.

Hugs to you, Joe & the sweet kitties, two!

  38. Anita ~ the cabin on the creek says:

I completely agree with you (& your mom) about organization. When I feel life getting a bit out of control with too much to do…..I find something to organize. I never planned to be that way, but I started to see a trend over the years. I think it makes me feel somewhat in control. & there’s nothing like a newly organized closet or even drawer. I read your story of Jack & could completely relate. My late husband & I have adopted 4 cats & 6 dogs over many years. They were all a blessing to our lives & gave more than they demanded. I still have a very old cat, sweet Elliot, & 2 dogs. They make me laugh even when I want to cry. They just have a gift !!

  39. Colleen says:

It is freezing here in Northwest Indiana. Yesterday the snow was blowing sideways. The TV news is so bleak. What to do? Make a pot of stew, and get out one of my Gladys Tabor books, and read. Or, lately I have taken to watching reruns on the Antenna TV cable station showing, Leave it to Beaver. They are in black and white, and have simple, sappy plots, but I was born in the 1950’s and enjoy “going back in time” if only for 30 minutes. I have a girlfriend who is a SB fan like myself and we’d adore one of your cute address books for all our computer addresses and passwords.

  40. Colleen says:

i wash my teapots when I need a retreat from the world. Or listen to Andrea Bocelli very loudly. Escape!

  41. CarolK from NJ says:

Oh Susan, what a great idea. I love being organized too although my organizing is spread around between a 4″ binder!!, the Rolodex and a few sticky notes. Your address book would fit the bill perfectly and to be able to give one to my sister would be the icing on the cake……Jersey hugs…….you can’t away from those hugs, we’re a very huggy family here too.

  42. Carol J., Santa Maria, CA says:

It would lovely to receive anything from you, Susan! Since May, 2001, I have used your journal, “Tea and Cake” as my record keeper of all cards and letters I have sent. Recording in one journal helps me much, for I do not have to wonder if I sent a card of encouragement, thank you or celebration of life’s events. Thank you for thinking of us!

  43. Jean D. says:

It’s a very cold (-2) and wintery day in my “smallville”, but my three furry friends (two dogs and one kitty) are snuggled up near me and keeping me toasty warm. How clever to use an address book for passwords! I have four or five pieces of scrap paper on which I have scribbled passwords. Not exactly organized or practical. I think I’ll collect those papers and do what you did. Thanks for sharing your idea. 🙂

  44. Tootles says:

I need this so! Too many passwords here and there everywhere!
I also need this pick me up of a post today!
One more thing to put in my Gratitude journal tonight.

  45. Linda P says:

OMG… What a wonderful idea! even if I don’t win.. Thanks Susan

  46. Roxana A. says:

Thank you so much for the link to Jack’s story. We lost our beloved kitty on November 30th this past year after 15 years of living with us. The hurt is still quite raw and I haven’t felt up to getting another cat…until now. Your story made me realize how much I missed that furry, purry presence in my life. Lovely memories all. Maybe it’s now time for another kitty…

  47. Debbie says:

Such a great idea!! Love seeing your seasons, thank you!

  48. jean from maine says:

You have the most wonderful heart, and way of looking at life. Thank you more that I(all of us, I am sure) can ever say for enriching our lives……xoxo
And a little(lot) bit of organization would be a wonderful thing, by way of a beautiful address book!!! xo

  49. Helen says:

Ever the optimist 🙂 hoping to win something someday sometime 🙂 🙂 Stay warm and cozy Susan!

  50. Lynne says:

Love the idea. Happy New Year!

  51. Terri Mc says:

    What a great idea ! Thanks !!

  52. Linda Sue says:

great ideas – I’ve kept a file on computer of all my passwords etc under a terribly clever – if I say so myself – nom de plume. But this – is organized and tactile and pretty – what more can a gal ask? well maybe a secretary to maintain it but hey – I do OK on my less than organized own most of the time.
Let’s see – would I put info about sailing on the Queen Mary 2 in June this year under Q or under V (vacation) or perhaps A (adventure?) – ah there in lies the rub!

  53. Jana says:

At least we are in charge of organizing our “stuff” when the big world seems out of control (aka insane). Organizing and cleaning feel good. Yep, good ol’ common sense. Blessings to you! Blessings to your Momma!

  54. Debby Moreau says:

What a brilliant idea! Using an address book with alphabetical tabs to organzie passwords and card numbers. Susan, you’re a genius! I would love the blue one.
When you talk about Smallville I know exactly how you are feeling, I think. One of my favourite sayings is, “the world is too much with us”. Sometimes we need to shut the world out to keep quiet within. I love my smallville. As long as I have it, I have everything.

  55. B says:

What a brilliant idea! And yes, smallville is essential for survival I think, particularly when the weather outside is frightful…. 🙂

  56. Keri Houts says:

Your warm and cozy blog posts are teaching me how to enjoy these dim, cold, and blustery days. Thank you, Susan!

  57. Asha says:

Hi Susan! Thank you for another great surprise. I have been organizing my home since I retired in July. Things are looking pretty good around here; however, those address books would be just thing I need to get my “electronic” life organized just as you did. Thanks for the hint. The drawing couldn’t have come at a better time. Stay warm & toasty!

  58. Beth K. says:

I love the concept of “Smallville”! We are kindred spirits, Susan! That is why I love your blog and your work…all things heart and home. The best. Home truly should be a cozy haven in this world. And you truly have that down to an inspiring art form! My Parent’s loved the copy of A Fine Romance that I gave them in honor of their 60th anniversary. Thank you for sharing!

  59. Colleen Ward says:

Brilliant use of the pretty address books! I’m ready to corral all my ‘forget me not’ data this way!

  60. Kathleen says:

Love the idea— and even better with a beautiful address book!! Thanks for sharing!!

  61. Ashleigh Stockman says:

I love the idea of using an address book to keep passwords organized. I adore all your books and would love to win! I’d give the second one to my mom, who started a collection of your books for me when I was young and put them in my hope chest to enjoy once I got married!

  62. Lorraine K. says:

    Dear Susan,
How very clever of you! I love getting organized. This month I have been going through my closets and drawers and getting rid of unneeded stuff. I LOVE how my closets look – so neat and organized and I can see and find everything.
    Thank you for your generosity.

  63. Sharon in Fresno, CA says:

Hi Susan, great post. I always love reading your thoughts put on paper. Hmmmm, keep husband or get a cat–choices. No brainier, I’ll keep my husband. Winter here in Fresno is not really winter, it’s more like spring without the flowers and blossom covered trees. We became great grandparents in December–woohoo!

  64. Christy Keyton says:

I have been snuggling under my electric warming shawl and watching Downton Abbey. I am new to the show as my sister gave me the first four seasons on DVD for Christmas. She was so distressed I did not watch it and kept insisting that I must, that she just gave me the DVDs and she was right – I am addicted. Perfect cold weather for watching with a cup of tea! Finished Season three last night! That ending was terrible!

  65. Donna Bradley says:

What a wonderful give-a-way! I’m on a mission also in hopes to be more organized in the coming year. Thanks for always encouraging your girlfriends in every area of life! I live in Smallville too! Deep in the heart of Texas 😉 and I love it!

  66. Jennie Lou says:

Hi, Susan, the photograph of the ice on the windowpane reminded me of waking up on winter mornings in eastern Pennsylvania. We lived with my
Mom’s folks on a big farm while Dad was overseas with the Army. The ice was like lace and we would put our warm hands flat on the window to melt the pattern on the glass, then draw a face between our handprints and say
“nyah! nyah!” to the world outside!

  67. Mare Hare says:

I seem to have “de-clutter & organize” permanently written on my New Years list, year to year. perhaps I should have it tattooed? Once I read your blog I felt inspired! Three bathroom shelves done. Oh the tings I found including $1.27 Thank you SB

  68. Vickie in Olympia says:

I would love an address book! But feel like I’ve already won because I got 3 blog entries from you this year already. 🙂 How did you get the credit cards to stay in place? Special magic? My computer passwords are on 3×5 cards in a recipe box, also with alphabet tabs. And I have a hint for when you have to change your password, cover the old one with a blank address label and write the new one on it. That way you don’t have so many messy cross outs. (I’d suggest using corrections tape but mine never roll out smoothly. LOL)

  69. Tana says:

What a perfect idea! I would never have thought of that. I have been writing my passwords down on little pieces of paper, then I lose them and I have to reset everything! Hate that. This would work so well for me. Will keep my fingers crossed!

  70. Elly says:

Thank you for another wonderful Winter post from Smallville! A great place to be from! Your idea of using an unused address book for organizing such things as passwords and credit card information, is brilliant! One could do the same with “old” week at a glance calendars, such as American Quilters Society could be used as well. Thanks for your ideas and wonderful photos you so selflessly share with us! Looks like your New Year is off to a wonderful start! <3 and (((hugs)))

  71. Stephanie W says:

Great idea Susan. You address book would certainly help me in organizing my passwords as I keep them taped to my computer desk. Hubby does the same thing. We could use your help in re-structuring our system. Thanks.

  72. Carol Ney says:

Would love to win the address/password books. Organizing and simplifying my home (and life) is MY GOAL for 2015 and the books would be a step in that direction. Absolutely loved seeing the Kitty Love pictures, whenever my granddaughter is over we always have to listen to the birdie tweet as it flies across the page and then see how Jack and Girl Kitty are!

  73. Sally Jenks Roth says:

Beautiful, beautiful, Susan. I so enjoy treating lovely things with care, as you do. A treat for my eyes, thank you so much. Your address books look like a great idea, you are so thoughtful… When things are not right in the world, or in my world, and one of your blogs comes in, I always feel better.
By the way, a dear girlfriend just took me to an English-style Tea Room in, of all places, Tucson Arizona! I hope you have been there too, you’d love it… Sally

  74. JS Grim says:

What a great idea! And a choice of cover colors too!

  75. Laurel in VA says:

Great idea! I’m in an organizing frame of mind myself. I just spent this very cold afternoon going through my craft “closet” putting things in order.

  76. What a great idea! This would make it so much easier for my husband too.

  77. Lynne L in Mount Hermon says:

Boy, do I need to organize all my passwords and website stuff!! Vanna pick me!

  78. Denise McClure says:

I have the original book that you posted, and would love to have a new one! Thank you Susan! I have loved your books for years and have many that are now out of print! 🙂

  79. Ruth from Pennsylvania says:

Just what was needed in the frigid, snowy, frozen hills of Pennsylvania….a bright and sunny blog post by Susan. Sure warms the heart to see all the cheerful dishware and sparkling glassware. And who wouldn’t love to receive one of those colorful address books? You know how to perk up our world, Susan.

  80. Sandra says:

    Great idea!

  81. Mechelle says:

But for a little bit, I’d be the crazy cat lady.
Instead, I’ll try and get organized with a beautiful
new address book ;0) What a great idea!

  82. Jane JB says:

I just LOVE your kitties!!! Girl kitty looks exactly like one I had named Minnie…exact same markings! And Jack is such a handsome fella!!! Love, love, love all your stuff…..! So appealing to look at and read 🙂

  83. Karen says:

Thank you for the warm and beautiful pictures, just what was needed on another cold, windy day. The address book idea is wonderful!

    Great idea Susan!
Love from Smallerville – your next door island. 🙂
    Stay warm.

LOL, I love that Nancy, very few places I would say could be Smallerville, but Nantucket would win, except maybe for speckville which would be Cuttyhunk!

  85. Jo Jahant says:

    Thanks, Susan…what a great idea!

  86. JoAnn Pollick says:

Love the password/address book idea. Would love to have one.
When I’ve redone an address book I’ve learned to keep the old one for a few years. The name I didn’t tranfer because we’d lost touch or someone had passed will be the name I’ve forgotten! Enjoy seeing all your dishes, Susan.

I have address books from the 70’s! I love to look back at all the names, brings back memories.

  87. Terri G. says:

    Susan,
The mention of Smallville touches my heart. It’s where I’ve lived most of my life, but I left out of necessity for a few years and paid the price- illness. I am gradually getting back to my quilting, little water colors, cooking (yes, we share a lot), and the thing that brings me great peace- neatness and a spotless home. What a pleasure. Love the address book idea, the cats on your blog, and every cat on the planet!

  88. Janice says:

What a great idea! I have them written down in a Jets (yes, I admit it) notebook, but it’s not in any order at all so I’m constantly going through pages and pages looking for my etsy password or another one. Thank you!

  89. So funny that you should happen to put your address books on this blog. I was digging thru my desk, drawers, etc and came across your first address book!! Apparently I had ‘filed’ it away thinking I would use it someday. . . and it just so happened that I needed a new address book to combine old and new addresses. Who knew i would have one of your first address books stashed away – am even more delighted to have it knowing that its out of print. Lucky me!!!!

  90. Vicki W. says:

I like the address book idea so much better than what I am doing, using a small diary. These would surely organize me!

  91. Ronda says:

What a great idea! We all have those little bits and scraps of paper with usernames and passwords that have been changed about a zillion times. This book would end all that!

  92. Janelle says:

    Love some kitty-love! Thank you!☺️

  93. Patricia says:

Thank you so much for sharing the beauty, joy, and gratitude found in “Smallville”. Your words and photos act as a salve to the ugliness on a sad day in our world. Wishing you and yours a healthy and happy new year from the Central Valley of California!

  94. Marilyn says:

Your Mom is certainly right about the importance of being organized. Loved seeing your beautiful goblets and cups and saucers lined up, sparking clean. I, too, enjoy the pleasure of surveying a job well done !

Yes, I would Love to win the Yellow Address book (for my Internet items)
and I would give my BFF, Kathy the blue one! She is responsible for
showing me your world! Believe me, it’s a much better world with you in it!

Susan, your photos are wonderful. Thank you for sharing bits of your life with us.

  97. Karen says:

Oh what a fabulous idea this organizer is!!! And even better is “Smallvillle”…the best place to spend time that I can think of!!! If you could paint Smallville, Susan, I wonder what it would look like?
The 2016 calender flowers are looking mighty pretty!

  99. Georgette Kennedy says:

I absolutely love this post! I started my organizing on Wednesday and still haven’t finished. Your address book idea is absolutely brilliant! I have 3 small spiral notebooks with a mish mash of passwords, websites and various information in each. I would love to have one of your books to organize all that information. I also love you kitty stories and pictures. We had a tiny gray and white tuxedo kitten adopt us about 6 years ago and our lives have not been the same since. Thank you for your lovely and inspiring blog posts.
