Hello from Smallville!

“Hello,” as my dad says, “from Smallville!”  ‘Cause that’s where I live too.  And I like it lit the firehere.  Sometimes the world just seems too big ~ but the bigger it gets, the smaller I get ~ because here in Smallville,  it’s always a nice day. There’s plenty to do in Smallville too … it’s not a boring place.

  Things that don’t count in the big world are EVERYTHING here.  When the world tries to get into Smallville and upset the smallness, I shut it out, turn on the MUSICA (listening to this now), light a fire (hearing it crackle), watch the birds busy at the feeders (peep-peep), and do what needs to be done.

toxic world

doing dishes

Like cleaning shelves. Nothing more common sense than this, sometimes it needs to be done.  I give myself a sense of purpose and accomplishment by getting the cooking juices off yellow glasswaremy shelves with a hot soapy cloth; washing dishes (I wash the ones with gold trim on them by hand) and putting them back on the shelves, shiny and clean.  Standing back and looking at my handiwork and saying, “ahhhh, look at that sparkle!”  I’m always happiest when my corner of the world is clean and organized and a new year for me always includes organization, which my mom says, is the key to success.

doing dishes

Some of the dishes are washed by hand, and these just came out of the dishwasher.

doing dishes

It’s before dawn and my audience is very quiet, just waking up, she pussyfoots around.  No loud applause.  Just purring.

And speaking of organization . . .

address book

The other thing I wanted to share with you is an organizing thing that has turned out to be SO GOOD I had to tell you about it.  I had this old (no longer in print) unused address book lying around, so I grabbed it and turned it into a brand new thing.

address book

It’s now my “Internet Address and Password Log Book.”  Before I thought of this, I had all my notewebsites and passwords written, but not alphabetized, on four pieces of paper (adding more pages all the time) that got limper and more tattered and worn by the day; torn on the fold and messy with additions and pencil smears ~ I would have to “re-do” the whole thing every so often.

address book

Now I have a real book I can put everything in. Like here, under C, the phone number and email address for Customer Service at my Studio.

watercolor flowers

address book

It’s a hard-cover book with alphabet tabs that keep everything I need right at my fingertips.

organization

For instance, under M, for Mom, here are all the websites, user names and passwords I need in order to pay my mom’s bills online.  There are copies of her two credit cards, in case I need them. (These pages look a lot better in real life than they do in these photos ~ I didn’t think it would be very smart for me to show the world my passwords so I sort of squiggled them out; I knew you would be proud of me for the quick thinking.)

advice from mom

address book

Under G is my Google Password, and all my contacts with the people at Gladys Taber, my Gmail and Goodreads Passwords too.  Under S, I have web addresses for all the online places I like to Shop, passwords and usernames for shoes and sweaters and art supplies (sometimes I cross-reference and put art supplies under A, or U for Utrecht); under P, I have my Pinterest and Paypal account numbers . . . under C I have my Computer fix-it people, my Credit Card account numbers and contacts, and so on. I can pack this book up and take it with me no matter where I go! Very handy don’t you think? SO much better than my previous way of doing it.

address book

I thought maybe this was something you might want to do. And, just in case you don’t have an old address book lying around . . .

address book

I do!  Two in fact, you can choose! You like yellow?  We have yellow.  You like blue? We have blue!

Both come complete with alphabet tabs . . .

They’re both in full color, binder style, they come with lots of pages. I blow on my fingernails, polish them on my sweater, say to myself, Brilliant!  It makes me feel good to be organized.

address books

And if you like it too, I have something for you!

All you have to do is leave a comment and you’ll be entered into the drawing.  (NOTE: If the blog is mailed to you, you might not see a place to leave a comment, go directly to www.162.240.10.175/~susanbs3/susanbranch/, scroll to the bottom of this post, look for the tiny word “Comments” at the very end in tiny grey letters, click there to comment so you’re entered into the drawing.)  Vanna (she’s our virtual in-house Game Girl and “random number generator,” although she would hate to be called this) is on high alert, ready to do her job in a few days, to choose the winner.

So here in Smallville, all is well, even though it’s freezing outside . . .

The wind whistles and the shutters bang and ice crystals grace all our upstairs windows ~

Inside Smallville, it’s 72°, it’s organized (within reason) and as flowery and summer-like as  I need it to be while I paint for our new 2016 calendars.

    Wonderful to see a peek at your current project. We haven’t heard much about the ‘new book’ in a while (unless I missed it). Has it completed the editing process yet? Have a title? Publication date? Will you publish this one through your own company? It has been fun to see the behind-the-scenes book birthing process, and I’m looking forward to reading it.

    • sbranch says:

      I’m still working on it . . . haven’t been able to touch it since we went away in October. I can’t wait to get back, but right now I’m painting for the 2016 calendars, THEN I get to work on the book! And yes, it will go through Spring Street Publishing! (still excited about that!)

  2. Karen Smith says:

    I love this idea! It’s perfect for getting internet organized! Stay warm!

  3. I’m so perfectly content in my little “Smallville” also, especially during the winter. I love your pretty address books.. great idea for putting our passwords in. Mine are like yours, written on sheets of paper. I started out with a few, all nice and alphabetical… but as years have gone by, I keep writing more in! I try to redo now and then, but I’m way behind now and it would probably take 8 sheets of paper to put them all down! One of your address books would be awesome (besides all of the beauty inside)!!

  4. maggie b in nevada says:

    Given half a chance, I can organize my day away, but would love anything with your special artwork and heart in it, Susan. I MIGHT use one as a gift, but I also might use one for addresses and one for passwords 🙂

  5. Mary Hadican says:

    Susan…that’s a brilliant idea ! I actually have the blue one, but use it the traditional way ( address and phone #’s) , but that would be perfect…to have another and use it with your idea. I get so much from your blog! I love following it, you always have such charming ideas. I’ve been a fan of yours too long to even remember when I started. I guess since your first book ! It’s freezing here in St. Louis, too ! ♥ your kitties, Mary

    What a wonderful idea! How hard it is today to stay organized and focused.
    Passwords are a nightmare for me.
    Putting email addresses in an address book makes good sense.
    I have missed your cheerie posts while you were away on your trip to visit family and friends. A well deserved rest indeed.
    Your large wall calendar my dear daughter purchased for me when we met you at the bookstore on the Cape in October….remember we were going back to her house for a Canadian Thanksgiving. It was the best ever…..so delicious and great company all around the large dining room table. Thank you for being so gracious as I was you second to last customer for a book signing. I will always treasure that day ….becAuse you were just the nicest person that I thought you would be and I love ‘downhome people’ and agree with ‘smallness’,
    On that thought I just finished a book you might enjoy (re, smallness) called The Little Bookstore of Big Stone Gap which incidently is in Big Stone Gap, Virginia not all that far from where I spent my high school years. The name of the book sang to me and I just had to read it. This lady, the owner, Wendy Welch and her husband Jack are real ‘downhome people’ and by the way “They love, love cats” and have them in their bookstore which is in their home.
    On the cover of the book it say ‘a memoir of friendship, community and the uncommon pleasure of a good book’.
    Truly I hope Vana finds my name in that big stack. Thank you for offering this treaure…love both colours.
    With a prayerful heart,
    Sylvia Faye

  7. Hi Everyone!
    Since we are all inspired to organize our internet addresses now, I have a very simple tip to share. My lovely, super-organized mom taught me to use pencil in my address book a few years ago. Amazingly, no matter how many changes I’ve made, it still looks good as new! So simple… and it will help us keep our newly organized passwords up-to-date.
    ♡ Life is sweet in Smallville!

  8. Mrs.Clark says:

    I was just thinking on how I want to be more organized with my days and a address book for passwords is a wonderful idea! Thanks so much for the opportunity. Stay warm and enjoy your weekend~ 🙂

  9. Mara Mattia says:

    Your posts are always a breath of fresh optimism & what a great idea for an address book! I guess it’s only logical that we include internet addresses too, something unknown when address books were first created 🙂

  10. Judy in Ohio says:

    Good day, dear lady! Thanks so much for this entry! I always soooo love reading them, but this particular one I did go back to your story(for my “kitty love fix”) as you suggested…about Jack and his “history” as it was when you wrote about him just a bit over a year ago. You are indeed an “animal person” just like myself! 🙂 If I recall, one time you were talking about how if you had a horse ( I think it was a horse!) that you would have to bring it in the house in the winter time…That is exactly why I don’t have outdoor furry family members…I’d have to bring them in! (These 9 degree nights of late: Who could do that to any one of them!!?) This is why I cannot have chickens…or even a miniature pony or an alpaca, like I would LOVE. 🙁 My friends think I am a bit nutty that way…but that is truly how I feel. I could not sleep knowing they are out there in the cold…or heat…or dark…or rain. (Yes, maybe I AM a bit nutty…but ONLY a bit!)

    Anyway, it was your story about Jack that touched me so much!

    About 10 months ago we “inherited” a siamese cat named Scuttles from my niece and her family. He is just the sweetest cat! We had met him about a year before we got him…when he was just a kitten… and had seen him when we were at her home visiting. As it turns out, her son was very allergic to cats and they had no idea until Scuttles was with them for just over a year. They hoped to get someone that they knew to adopt him so that the kids (Reece, 10 & Rylee,6…our grand nephew and niece) could come to visit him …making it less of a loss for them. (And that has turned out very well, too!)

    My husband and I have always had toy poodles instead of children and so we were not really “cat people”…But it literally only took me about 5 minutes to talk my husband into it (because he had already met and liked Scuttles, too!)

    I cannot tell you what a joy he has brought to our lives. (And our 12 year old poodle, Chipper, seems to have about the same attitude toward Scuttles that your Girl Kitty has to Jack!) I know you already know (by your account) about your life with Jack that you know how special lives with pets can be. I don’t know what our lives would be like without ours. Definitely gifts from God…one by way of my niece and her family, but our gift never-the-less.

    Thank you so much for how you remind us of our blessings…and therefore enriching our lives by reminding us often of what we already have.

    If I can bring even just a fraction to friends’ and family members’ lives what you bring to mine, I will have accomplished my purpose here in this life.

    THANKS AGAIN!! 😀

    Have a wonderful weekend, dear friend…And STAY WARM!!

    I have a password box, a recipe box with file cards for every internet site I use. Years ago I did this and it was the greatest time saver. I had papers also and would have to look through the list, this makes it so easy. The address books are a great idea too.
    I love those ice crystals on the window.
    Stay warm in Smallville!

    Thank you! Thank you for putting up such lovely posts. You bring chear, sunshine and such happiness to our world.
    And thank you for sharing such a great idea! I too have pieces of paper with all pass words etc, but a nice adress book would be just great!
    Best wishes from stormy Holland,

  19. Hi, I love your blog, it always makes me smile. That is a great idea and one I am going to use (even if I don’t win, and that’s not likely to happen) I love the pretty yellow book, and I am going to the stationer’s soon to buy a pretty address book just for this idea. I can’t tell you how many passwords I have lost or forgotten (menopause brain lol) and am still locked out of Etsy even though I opened a shop to sell off my dollshouse miniatures (a hobby I have sadly not been able to pursue sigh). Thank you again for your uplifting words and beautiful art.

    Hello back! :), from a small island on the other side of the country. I could immediately relate, because I have the same lists of passwords and such in a similar state as you did. I love your address book; such a happy, charming way to be organized! The sparkling china and glassware have inspired me. I did just notice today that if I pick up a piece from the china cabinet, there is a clear spot left that is surrounded by dust. I’m so glad we have January, a pause for catching up. My deep thanks for opening a window into your lovely heart from there in Smallville. Andrea, Bainbridge Island, WA

  24. Leslie Gammelgaard says:

    2015….Time to get organized (it’s a lifelong endeavor.) Just think, all my passwords written in little tablets or on sticky notes could all go in one adorable book. It could be a life saver! Thank you for the great idea AND your gift (for two blessed bf’s!)
    Happy New Year!

  25. My original comment seems to have disappeared in the ether of t’internet ~ so I’m waving again ~~~ 🙂

    I never seem to win anything but I really do want my name in the hat please; there is something quite thrilling just about being in the hat.

    Oh, the joys of passwords! Just when you think you are sorted it is time to change them again. A little book is such a great idea, and pretty too.

    ~~~waving~~~from Across the Pond~~~Debs in Wales xoxo
    • sbranch says:
      I’ve been “approving” comments for two hours now and I still have 328 comments pending! I’m sure yours is in there somewhere Debs, but it may take me a while to get there! Waving . . .
  26. Miriam says:
    What a good idea! I have a little book for my passwords etc, but it’s not in alphabetical order and it’s interspersed with other things like books to read and websites to visit! So you can imagine it takes me quite a while to find what I need!!
  27. Cheryl says:
    I love kitties, too, and have 4. Can’t imagine life, also in Smallville, without furbabies in it. Your address books are a wonderful idea and I would love to have one if I would be so lucky as to have Vanna draw my name! Thanks so much for this wonderful giveaway!
    Great idea ! Pick me Vanna!
    I am not sure if this took the first time so if this is a repeat so sorry 🙂
    • sbranch says:
      It’s OK, Vanna knows to choose from only one entry for each. I’m not able to keep up with “approvals” on the comments right now (get lots of spam so have to do it this way) . . . we still have 237 “pending” but I’ll get there.
  38. Chris Ditzler says:
    I’ve been using the original address book for years. Recently updated to the “new” one, but only for addresses. Love the idea of all the additions. Have a beautiful day!
  39. ann says:
    Love the address book idea!! And if you need more kitty love get on Instagram and follow fjarilflickans, she has two beautiful cats that had kittens a week apart. So much fun!! Like 13 kittens I think!! You would love Instagram…
  40. Pam says:
    Hi Susan, I think, (no I know), I need your mum here to organize me!! 🙂 The address book idea is simply brilliant. How on earth do you keep tabs on what year it is when you’re preparing 2016 calendars :). I have enough trouble remembering what year it is and don’t get me started on trying to remember people’s ages. A sign of old age I think.
  41. Kristie Shreffler says:
    We just moved to a new home in a new state and I am trying to make sure everything is organized as we get settled. My old address book is falling apart and I could certainly use a new one! I love the old phone on the blue one. Thank you for offering another great giveaway – please pick me, Vanna!
  42. Jan S says:
    What a fabulous idea! I must have the identical tattered papers that I’m terrified of tossing out with the rubbish. Brilliant!
  43. Marie Welch says:
    Always love your inspiration…
    What positive energy and a beautiful start to my day!
  44. Sharon says:
    The older I get, the more I love my “smallville”. I am very content right now, reading my favorite blog (yours of course), drinking my coffee, watching the snow fall with my two dogs laying on each side of me. LOVE the address books – what a great idea!
    • sbranch says:
      Finding Smallville when I moved to the island (a lot like finding Neverland) was a lifesaver for me, before, I didn’t know it existed.
  45. Barbara Weaver in Hampton says:
    Perfect time for cleaning. I had just cleaned the fridge and one shelf in the pantry when I saw your new blog. And thought, “How about that!” It feels so good to see something clean when I open the doors! We love kitties here, too. Our Lucy Lou makes us very happy. She’s a cuddler and a purr-er (is that a word). Jack was a true keeper and his blog page is, too! It would be fantastic to win the date books. That’s a really good idea. We all have the how do I save my codes problem! Happy January to you!
  46. Rita wolfe says:
    I would love these! I am on the same cleaning/organizing mission and had never thought to put all those things in one place. Thanks!
  47. Sue Lamke says:
    Love to be as organized as you. The earmark of a successful person! As soon as I win the HGTV house I will be your neighbor. Won’t that be fun?
    • sbranch says:
      Yes! And from what I read in the comment section of this blog, you are going to have several really wonderful housemates! 🙂
  48. Sharon in The Carolinas says:
    Now I know why you have always praised “the seasons”. Coming from SLO to the East Coast is the BEST thing we ever did! We love it here. Winter is not exactly like yours as we are Southeast neighbors but it is so beautiful. The goal for 2015 is to get more organized. Your post was very timely and love the address book idea. Thanks!
  49. Mary says:
    I love this idea! Thanks for sharing it! And I love the blue one with the old fashioned phone.
    My grandparents used to have one just like it.
  50. Elisa says:
    BRILLIANT idea – love it!! I hope I win!!
  51. Alice says:
    My first comment, though you’ve been inspiring me for many years. The Girlfriends book is so much fun-thank you from my heart! Your Cajun Shrimp recipe is a long time favorite-I must make it once a month and I’ve passed it along to friends numerous times and shared it with several brides. Love, love, love your blog! Fingers crossed for the address books, but I will use the idea no matter what. Hugs!
  52. Lorraine says:
    Thank you for this wonderful organizing idea!
  53. Gloria Martin says:
    Love these!
  54. What a wonderful idea. I’m having a hard time remembering. I am constantly having to send the dreaded “Forgot Password” email. That’s what happens to you when you have migraines and fibromyalgia. It’s that wonderful “mind fog” I live in everyday. I love to read your post, they lift my spirits. Thanks for all the years of posting. Been a fan for a very long time. I even have your Christmas Book when it originally came out. Yep, been a fan that long. Thanks for making my heart light on some hard days.
    • sbranch says:
      Be well Cathy, and know that you aren’t the only one who has mind fog! Only some of us have no good excuse!
  55. Mary Pacey says:
    What a great idea– I have mine written in a little notebook with no index, so it takes time to search for the right one. Also, I’ve learned to write them in pencil because every so often, they need to be changed. Organization is the key to success!!!
  56. Kay Johnson says:
    I LOVE that idea. You have inspired me to clean my pantry shelves….will tackle that project today!
  57. Lee Bowers says:
    Susan, Happy New Year! Life is good here in North Carolina! Would dearly love to win your address books, I know exactly who I will give the extra one.
    Do you find that even though you have your info written down, “they” ask for a password or question you don’t have written down. Please don’t change your e mail address that move is fraught with new everything.
  58. Annette says:
    My thought for the new year was a new address book! Looked online for one with no luck. Pick me!!
  59. Cristina says:
    Happy New Year, Susan!
    Your blogposts are such source of calm for my day. I greatly appreciate you doing the simple things of daily life with all the intentoonality and love you can give them. You inspire me and so many others! There is this song by one of my favorite music artists, Sara Groves, called “Add To The Beauty.,” of which your post made me think. Among other ideas, it talks about the small inspirations that dignify “our lives and our work.” Thank you for being someone who adds to the beauty of our days, Susan.
  60. Janis McLaughlin says:
    I just love your products – have had several of your calendars and your Autumn cookbook and “A Fine Romance”. Your style of writing is my cup o’ tea! I would love to have a blue address book and if my name is drawn, I, too, will become better organized. God bless and love on the kitties one time just for me.
  61. Louise says:
    This is a great idea! And, how sparkly your clean dishes look!
  62. DOLORES says:
    I have been doing that for years but in an old and ugly thin little address book that slipped into my planner. I have never thought of using one big pretty book that I wouldn’t be ashamed of being seen caring. And a Susan Branch address book even better! A little bit of happiness whenever I opened it. And I love how you set it up to s for shopping things like that. My way is not as organized I’m afraid. But definitely will strain it up if I happen to win! Thanks so much for thinking up this great giveaway for us and the great organing ideas. I learn so many wonderful things from you. And maybe you might could make an Internet address book for the shop.
    Thank you again,
    Stay warm and cozy,
    Dolores
  63. Mary Lou says:
    I love Smallville, too. The big world certainly has been too much to handle lately. I turn off CNN cuddle up with my blanket, a wonderful book and a hot cup of tea. I happened to look in my china closet yesterday and thought that all my stuff needed some hot soapy water, too. Maybe tomorrow.
  64. Christine D says:
    Yes I also have been living in smallville 3 snowdays in a row and subzero temps!
    So I have devoted myself to making small glitter houses! What fun isn’t fun when you can block out the real world sometimes. You Kitty pic of girl Kitty it the sweetest! Keep warm.
  65. Kedra says:
    It is a cooooold day here in the mountains!(Ozarks). Freezing rain tomorrow! Washing those dishes in warm, soapy water sounds lovely. Since I’m not good about multiple passwords, changing passwords etc. your idea sounds like the perfect thing to do – if I can win an empty address book! We’ll see!
  66. Maureen MacKenzie says:
    What a great idea! We are coated with snow too (LI)…and they say there is the potential for a Thursday into Friday snow storm. Enjoy
  67. Linda says:
    I just got over a bad case of writer’s cramp re-doing my passwords- 4 sheets of paper on both sides. How did the world change so fast? When the internet or phone service shuts down we’re nearly frantic because we’re out of touch for a bit. Even our cabin has internet now via the phone hotspot- but I’m glad we have it and would love to win the address books to keep me organized.
  68. Mary Lou says:
    Such a smart idea!
  69. Aggie says:
    I like to be organized as much as possible, though find it harder as time goes by….wonder why? A good activity for these winter months!
  70. Jeannie says:
    Oh Susan, what great things to do on cold winter days (instead of lounging away on the computer)! Love love love the little kitties!
  71. Penny says:
    I am sticking to ‘Smallville’ justnow too, the outside world feels a bit frightening, and the fire, kettle, radio and baking are making me feel better and more secure. I too keep my passwords and info in a small notebook, but it is not alphabeticalised, so yes please, I’d love to be entered into the lucky dip! I am trying had to be more organised this year too……so far, only moderate success, but I have all year to get it right! X
  72. Hi Susan, This is a brilliant idea! I too have all my passwords down on paper. They are all tattered and I keep meaning to re-write the whole thing…. you know how that goes.
  73. Barbara Kuzdzal says:
    Just a wee note to tell you how much I’m enjoying Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick. I came across it and remembered that you had recommended it in a past post. It is so good that it calls me. I hurried home last night and got up early this morning because my book was calling me. Now that’s a good book, thank you for the recommendation. I love it and will pass it on.
  74. Barbara B says:
    My tiny address book is filled with slips of paper and kept together with a rubber band. I need to organize.
  75. Mary says:
    Great idea for an address book as my passwords, etc. are also on little pieces of well worn papers! I enjoy seeing your Jack on the blog – he is adorable! Hoping to get as organized as you but, knowing myself, and the fact I have a “hoarder” of a husband, doubt it – haha! Blessings as we begin 2015!
  76. Kathy says:
    I love your idea of being organized with addresses and passwords. Like you I have written these notes on pieces of paper and most of the time I can’t find what I need. You are so smart, thank you for this wonderful idea.
  77. Kristi says:
    Kitties ARE the best, mine woke me on this bitterly cold morning in Minnesota by licking my ear. “Time to get up and feed us!”
  78. norma lewis says:
    I need organizational help. Passwords are hard enough to remember at best, but now many sites have required that we change and create new and stronger combinations, and that’s brought more confusion for the old brain. It would be good to stop and write everything down and give up the guessing games.
  79. Jean Shaffer says:
    So glad to see your method of organization-I didn’t think anyone else did this as I do-i love being organized! And, I love your idea for a password address book-I must get one started. Thanks for some great tips!
  80. Denise W. Jose says:
    Susan you always come up with the best ideas. Love to book of passwords. My” old” brain just does not retain them. I really need to become more organized. I am working on my recipe keepers now. January is always a good month for getting organized.
  81. Karen C says:
    I really needed this great idea! (Why don’t I ever think of anything like this?)
    Enjoying my SB calendar and desk blotter at work. Thanks. Love you, Susan.
  82. Rhonda junkins says:
    Good Morning from Snow covered ground and bright sunny skies in Maine. This is the first time I’ve contacted you. I have followed you for many years. Since about 2004 I’ve used your planners and given them to my nine daughters and daughter-in-law’s each Christmas. I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed them but since you’ve changed format it hasn’t been as efficient for me. You’re older planners had both pages devoted to the Wii with the section for To Do. I always had a place do you put in phone calls I needed to make or special tasks that wouldn’t fit on my regular daily calendar. This year unfortunately I opted for a different planner so that I wouldn’t have to modify yours so much. Time is So precious and are busy life. Would you consider redoing your planner format? I love the artwork and all of the handwritten printing in your particular planner. I’ve collected much of your ephemera for gifts and personal use. Thank you for Sharing your gift with the world!!
      I’m not totally sure what planner you are speaking of Rhonda. Tell me what the cover looks like. Not sure what Wii is, either.
  83. Mylinda Drury says:
    What a fabulous idea! I love starting off the new year with some organization to my life. ..and I always use your Heart of the Home calendar to help me stay organized all year long 🙂
  85. Oh, oh…”Get a Kitten, Just Do It…” that might get me in trouble! ha. Living on a farm, we have the joy of having a few barn kitties….3 of them come to the house every morning for a short time inside with some warm treats. Gilbert, Bob, and Kitty…(smiles). I need to update my address books — they are very lovely!! Have a Happy New Year!
  86. Tawni urrutia says:
    I love all these gorgeous 2015 posts! If the bobbles on Vanna’s bracelet drag her perfectly manicured hand to my name, blue for me and yellow for Auntie Penny. Or maybe it’s yellow for me and blue for AP!
    I love everything you do it gives an air of peace and tranquility. A little bit of what is lost in the world today with so much information. I am going to have to do as you say and close myself up at times in my small world too, and get recharged. Thanks for the reminder! Wish we were neighbors! Would love to have the address book to help organize and see some beauty everyday. Thanks for offering it!
  88. Carol from PA says:
    Don’t you just love to see the numbers climb! Stay warm and cozy in Smallville, my friend!!
  89. Laura says:
    Thank you for spreading love. My Mom used to say, “You can think whatever you want, but you don’t always have to say it out loud.” Wise Mama….I tell my girls the same things my Mom used to tell me. Love you Susan and Girlfriends. xoxo
  90. Tricia says:
    Happy New Year, Susan!
    Yes, this cold New England day is perfect for cleaning the cupboards and shelves , maybe refreshing the holly? Great idea for organizing passwords and email addresses – my little papers are getting a bit ragged and difficult to read! Thanks for sharing!
  91. Mrs.T says:
    What a wonderful idea! I’m ashamed to say that some of my passwords for different accounts are only in my head — and that’s not a very reliable place to keep them! Thanks for the opportunity to win, and I hope Vanna picks me.
    It’s cold here, too, very cold, and I think I am finally summoning the energy to do some of the tasks you pictured in Smallville. Thanks for the inspiration!
  92. Connie S says:
    My address book is in bad shape. Would love a new one!
  93. Sharon from AB, Canada says:
    What a great idea to get organized! Very practical and easy to do.
    The urge always hits this time of year to get organized, clean out the cupboards and enjoy my cozy little home.
    Thanks again for the inspiration. Happy New Year!!
  94. Maria Shiyou says:
    Although I did that years ago, I would love to have a Susan Branch address book!
    Yellow or blue.
  95. Barbara Fruehe says:
    I am commenting here to let you know your blogs are loved and bring me inspiration to go about a creative day 😀 Great idea for Internet Address Book!
  96. Ellen B. says:
    WOW! You’ve done it again! What a great idea! I just went through my “stack” of Post-its trying to find a password to pay a bill.
  97. Linda Smith says:
    My address book is so in need of updating. I love the idea to add my password to it. You have inspired me to pull it out and update it.
  98. Lynn S says:
    I just get lost in wonderland when I read your posts! Have a very wonderful 2015! I think the ideas you have for the address books are pretty neat–and the art and commentary so catching!
  99. Frances Fowler says:
    I’m so glad you choose to share your wonderful corner of Smallville with us, and I completely agree. A dear friend of mine says she wants to live in Frances World, which is my personalized version of Smallville, though, alas, without the fireplace (one day). That’s a great idea for organizing all those passwords, especially as we have to remember passwords for soooo many things. It made me wonder what they did centuries ago (or less) when maybe people had to remember secret passwords to gain entry somewhere. What if they forgot? Did they have security questions to answer? Thank goodness Smallville needs no passwords at all, except maybe comfort, happiness, and contentment. I’m enjoying my new wall calendar, but it’s always nice to get peeks of what I’ll see in next year’s. Enjoy your beautiful, wintery January!
  100. Michele Gavaletz says:
    Brilliant, simple – priceless! Thanks for a great idea as always.
