    Is this mushroom soup as good without the white port or is it necessary……. or for that matter can something else be used?

    Lunch today , subbed white wine for Port( keep a bottle near stove) added 1/2 cup half and half and a few grates of nutmeg ( can’t have pepper) wounderbar!!!! thanks

    Made the soup just now, will have it with French banquette. & oil , it is delicious & I love your recipe’s.. thank you , getting ready to watch Go Pat’s game..

    Have made Many Mushroom Soup for guests at holiday parties as well as my family for any occasion and it always gets raves. I add cream to make it more of a bisque. Made some last night for a goodbye potluck for a colleague today (always better the next day!) and it was a hit. Had to use vegetable broth because the colleague is a vegetarian, and it’s just as good. Thank you, SB. I’ve enjoyed your life thus far, through your cookbooks, your Willard letters, your memoirs, all of which I’ve read since Christmas last, and your baby books — three girls, three baby books, all to name a few.
