♥ H A P P Y S U N D A Y D E A R H E A R T S ! ♥
MUSICA and flowers for you! I’m just wondering if you’ve been reading your comments? Are you not the most wonderful gathering of people you have ever seen? I have enjoyed them so much, all 1,400 of them . . . each comment individually, but when you put them all together, it’s Spring! ♣ It’s family, it’s memories, beauty, l♥ve and creativity and charm and trying hard and making a difference ~ all the things I have always loved about the readers of my books ~ which I learned about from the letters I received from so many of you over the years, but now, here we are, together at last and it’s just so lovely to read!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write! I thought I would wish you all a Happy Sunday — and let the drawing go a couple more days so everyone has a chance to sign up. If you’re not sure what “drawing” I’m talking about, scroll down to the next post ~ we’re in the middle of a Give-Away! ← That’s a hint.
You can leave your comment either here or there (at the bottom of either post where you see the tiny gray letters “comments” just click and there you go) and as many times as you like because Vanna is brilliant and knows to choose only one from each name/address. Until then, from my Girlfriends Forever book, the perfect title for US, this, for all you beautiful girls . . .
Thank you for being here! Keep the home fires burning! ♥ Downton Abbey tonight! Ooooo-La-Wee! xoxo
LOVE the looks of that lambie cake!!! Would love to make it for my grands. It’s SOOOOO adorable. You are extremely clever, Susan. Would give most anything if I could paint like you do. Took a water coloring class on the Queen Mary 2 and royally flubbed up!! What got you started? Could you draw to begin with? I wanted to be like you!!! Don’t worry; that will NEVER happen. 😉
There’s a little story at the top of the blog, right HERE (under “The Real Me”) that tells how I learned to paint. Really, it’s very much about practice.
I love the combination of music, cooking and art.
I love the lamb cake recipe, it can’t wait to make it! Your art is an inspiration everyday. Thank you for sharing your world with us!
I love everything to blog and sell. we are soul sisters. Your lovely Girlfriends forever book has become my gift to every dear friend I have! thank you for all you do Susan
Dear Susan and all the Girlfriends,
Ditto Ditto to all you’ve said.
Much Love to you all.
OOOOXXXX
Thanks for the beautiful pictures of flowering trees -they give one HOPE! Michigan is still buried in snow but I’ve had 2 sightings of robins: about nine on the snow and over a dozen eating berries from a tree. Poor things…and they’re our state bird!
Your Happy Sunday blog was a welcome breath of springtime in a seemingly never-ending winter! I’m always inspired by these flights of fancy – I will plan to make the lamb cake for my grandchildren for Easter!
Just love all about Susan! Never had a bad experience with a recipe. Can’t wait to try cake!!!
Only you — would even attempt to make their Colonoscopy into a loving , caring message to the world — and do it successfully . You have many great wonderful blog messages out there , but I think this one is the all time winner — with touching on the importance of the self worth reminder you illuminate this individual need that is so often overlooked as we hustle and scurry in our everyday worlds……as Mom used to say , “Good-o”!
Love you Dad, xoxo.
another wonderful giveaway… thank you!
Love seeing your photos and your blog always gives me a much needed cheer-up. xoxo
Dear Susan,
My Mother shared the same fashion advice with me regarding clean undies. That and never wear white shoes before Easter or after Labor Day. Loved your thoughts on self-respect. Thank you for the ray of sunshine you share with us all!
I was delighted to see pic of the Betty Crocker/Tasha Tudor book pop up – I’ve had it since it came out and it remains one of my very favorite books of all time (it’s currently displayed on my little dining room table with my collection of frogs and some seed packets (zinnias, basil, etc.) that remind me that spring will surely come (it always has).
Back in a gentler time, my grandmother wore a house dress in the morning, then took a short nap after lunch and dressed for the afternoon in a lovely “frock” – what ladies did back in the day…. I have to admit that I’m still in a sweatshirt in the afternoons – at least it’s always clean 🙂
I love the lamb cake! Your blog has brought some much needed spring comfort to my house.
♥ Sweet Sue I Love The Photo Of You With The Lambie~Cake! 🙂 So Sweet Sweetest Sue! Tell Vanna My Wings Are Still Crossed! 😉 Good~Luck To All of Us! Yay! xoxo Poof! ♥ 🙂
It would be nice if you would make a special delivery of the cake right here, along with the other goodies, & we could enjoy it together!
Always enjoy everything you write and show us!
First time on site. Hope for more. Lamb cake was adorable. Enjoying
Nice to hear Nancy, welcome to the neighborhood!
My husband and I have been fans of yours for 25 years. Thanks for all you do!
Nice to hear, thank you Debbie!
Yesterday I received the book “Beatrix Potter, A Journal” which I ordered from your Peter Rabbit shopping site. I am more than thrilled. It is one of the sweetest, most unusual books I have ever owned.
Since I started viewing your blog and reading “A Fine Romance” (another favorite) I have renewed my love of all things Beatrix Potter. Thank you for renewing the sweet memories.
Isn’t it great? After I found one in a used book store I was thrilled to see we could still order them for our store. Too wonderful not to share! The secret book in the back? Publishers rarely spend that kind of money on a book. It’s very special.
When are you going to do Spring and Winter books. I have Summer and Autumn and I need a complete collection. Are you working on them?! Hurry! Thanks!!!!!
They are on the back burners along with several other books, a diary, a Christmas story, a Tea Book, Pancakes, and several more. I need more arms, hands, and a couple other brains would be good too.
Oh my Gosh! You pretty much said everything that I loved about DA! Those hats!!! Didn’t you love all the boxes of clothes and hats in the foyer? That would be so much fun! I loved this season, especially the finale. I wish we still dressed up in white to go on picnics or have bazaars or play cricket. Hee hee!
I’ve had parties where I asked everyone to wear the same color. You can do that. Have a tea and say wear white!
What happened to all the comments to this blog? I went back into check. It says there are 682 yet the newer comments only has a few.
???????????
The 682 comments were for the post just after this new one . . . right? We have around 50 comments waiting right now for me to “approve” — (we get lots of spam).
Susan, I love your artwork SO MUCH. Is there any way that I could persuade you to allow, somehow, us to use your artwork as a “profile” picture on Facebook??? Like, for instance, the gorgeous primroses in the heart-dotted Emma mug in your blog above would be so pretty as a profile picture. And, of course, we would give you all the raves and praise/kudos/reference for that beautiful picture. Maybe we could pay a monthly/yearly fee to you somehow in order to do this. I don’t know but it’s just KILLIN’ ME that I can’t post your pretty flowers as my profile pic.
Sorry I’m bothering you about this. I’m sure you’re going to say, “No.” But, I figured….it couldn’t hurt to at least TRY, right?! LOL
With raves, kudos, praise and reference, how can I refuse? I just would hate to see it everywhere, but for you Cheryl, since you asked so sweetly, you can use the heart dotted mug on yours. xoxo
Thank you, Susan, for sharing your creativity, uplifting spirit and old world charm. You light up my life during the darkest, coldest days of the year!
Best wishes always,
Liz
Happy to have you here Elizabeth!
So happy to be here, just up island, in Chilly Chilmark!
Hi Elizabeth. Are you on vacation?
I live here!
Well then, you must feel as lucky as I do! 🙂 Nice to meet you neighbor! Pretty nice out there so far this morning, blue sky, but cold!
Sorry for the delay in responding; We’ve been nursing an ill duck back to health! My husband & I live here year round; having moved to MV in June, 2009; but I just discovered you recently!
Hope your duck gets well soon Elizabeth.
Hi susan!
I have been one of your most devoted fans way back from “The Heart of The Home”. I love every thing you do, all your recipes and own all of your books. However, I have noticed that your blog is totally devoted to all things British and Downton Abbey. While I too love DA, it seems that you have veered from your roots, which were firmly planted in retro 50/60’s Americana and the place that you grew up. Can we see more of the old Susan on your website and less of the British thing? The last post was a total recap of DA. If i wanted to watch that show I would do that, but when I go to your website, I want to see you and what you are doing. Thank you!
Sarah (a huge fan)
Hi Sarah, very nice to hear from you. I sort of write about what I like, depending on what day it is. I’m loving Downton Abbey right now and we’re having lots of fun with the hashing over, but I do lots of recipes too, I traveled for three months across America last fall and blogged about it, I put up art the other day about Self Respect, my old 1849 New England house in the snow, Yankee Magazine shoot, My dad’s hands, My sewing room, collecting old dishes and vintage linens, cleaning silverware, How I Learned to Paint, Martha’s Vineyard Moonrise, on and on. (At the top of the blog are drop downs with lots of different things in them.) Maybe you’ve just been checking in at the wrong times since I did just finish a year and a half book writing project about our trip to the English Countryside so that was a natural thing for me to be writing about. But really, I just write about what’s going on around me, lamb cake, spring flowers, my kitty, whatever. I’m glad to have you here and will definitely keep your requests in mind!
My blood pressure just rose a little Ithink, Susan
🙂 So many blogs, so little time!
Have been re-reading all the lovely comments…what fun and how blessed to be privy to all this love and wisdom. Women….are the best friends…It finally dawned on me how long I have been a Susan Branch fan…I looked down at my “old” pajamas that I am determined to never wear out….they are close to 10 yr old or more….Guess what is on the front of my pj’s? Hot Chocolate….these I found at Sam’s years ago and bought a pair for each of my daughters and daughter-in-law and myself for our Christmas under the tree picture…Your the artist!! I knew so many things were familiar…now I understand why..each one of my girls have given me their pajama’s because I loved them so much so I plan to wear them forever……soft pink strips for pants and light pink top with the recipe for Hot Chocolate on front….how wonderful……thank you again…wish u could make more….love you happy Wednesday
Me too EvANGELine, they were fun to have in our store! xo
You’re the best, Susan. Thanks!
Thank you so much! Your blog is where i learned of “Downton Abbey”. I went on-line and found where to watch previous seasons~~and i immediately got hooked! <3 <3 <3
Another kindred spirit!
Thanks so much for the photo of the snowdrops. I have heard about snowdrops growing in England and have wondered about them. They are rather fascinating since they first appear when the ground is so cold.
Would love to see a photo of the snow drops when they are blooming!
Thanks for the snowdrop photo.
Carol
I will do that for sure Carol. Snow drops bloom when there is actual snow still on the ground! I have pictures from last year.
Your art and your word are so beautiful, sometimes I could just cry!
You are a sweetheart to tell me Claudia. xo
