Of course our blog is wearing green today, it would not like to be pinched! But I am now on my fourth try to write a new post! The first three failed because important memories or perfect descriptions have been crashing into my best intentions demanding to be added to the new book before I forgot them. I will try my best to stay focused here! This will help . . . MUSICA made in heaven. First a little something to make your mouth water . . .
Happy Saint Patricks Day Everyone! How’s it going for you so far? I don’t know if you have a special something you like to make in honor of the day, but this ↑ is our favorite recipe for stew. It’s very different, it has raisins! And orange juice! And cayenne! And nutmeg of all things! That’s because I got my hands on it, and thought, those creative Irish, they would forgive me for messing around with their stew. Yummy, egg noodles, with butter. Yes.
I know, it says Irish and the only potato is a sweet potato and there’s no Guinness but I would wager you (and that is Irish) that the flavor of this stew will make you jump up to do your own version of Riverdance, from happiness.
For more wonderful Irish things that don’t make total sense to us go HERE and laugh. And HERE, for a wee taste o’ some things that make Ireland so wonderful. And here’s to a day of love and blessed luck for you all! ♣
Had to show you Jack this morning! He is in a very feisty mood. Jack is never in any danger of getting pinched on St. Patricks Day because . . .
. . . he brings his green with him wherever he goes, he is always Wearin’ the Green.
He knows what the camera is now, because he makes me chase him around and he rarely holds still anymore . . .
I get the camera and he begins to jump about or roll around so it’s difficult to focus on him. I have to take LOTS of pictures before I can get one that isn’t totally blurred into oblivion . . . It’s those green eyes I love so much.
He gets bored with me very quickly though . . . Get that thing out of my face, he yawns . . . (and please, WOMAN, stop kissing me, I am BEGGING you. You’re messing with my DIGNITY.)
Or else I will just leave. Very spoiled, very sure of himself.
So I say, OK, be that way, and go into the kitchen to get my newest Gladys Taber Newsletter to show you. I wanted you to remember that third thing down, in case you’re interested, and remind you to make your plans because I would love to see you there. ♥
I was trying to show you the article in the Newsletter about the Reunion where I will be speaking and signing copies of A Fine Romance, but of course the minute I don’t pay 100% attention to him, he is back. Now he wants to play! I take it any way I can get it. Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets . . .
And Lola wants to drape himself on just the parts I would like you to see . . .
I hope lots of you are already a member of the Friends of Gladys Taber? She has been one of my favorite authors for a long time. The quarterly newsletters are always delightful, interesting, informative, fun and evocative, I save them … ↑ here are a few of them from years past. If you’d like to read more about Gladys Taber, find out how to become a member of her fan club, or get better information about the Reunion in June (and tour her house Stillmeadow), I did a post about her HERE and put the dates and times at the bottom.
I finally got the Newsletter out from under Lola and on top of him. He took it rather well before he tore out of the room and up the back stairs. Like a nut.
Let’s see … oh yes, well! I asked my little-old tea-leaves blender for something Cinnamony and Green for spring, and preferably Caffein Free and they sent me a few packets, some more cinnamony than the others, some more flowery, but I think they got it just right with this one . . . it has body and balanced flavor and smells wonderful . . .
Only three more days until the first official day of spring.♥ Last night after dinner, I sat in front of the fire (because spring-schming around here is the real truth) with a cup of my new Spring Tea and read my Newsletter and I almost didn’t care that it was 28 degrees. (Ridiculous.)
I also made us some “Celebrating Spring” cards (2nd row from top) that can be used as Greetings cards for spring or Earth Day, as postcards or Easter Dinner invitations, or even recipe cards — they’re lined on both sides, are 4″ x 6″ on nice, heavy, uncoated card stock and come in sets of 25. Happy Spring!
Even if there is no spring (yet) at your house, I can’t tell you how lovely it is to read about a New England Springtime through the eyes and heart of Gladys Taber. I think this is my favorite of her books, probably because it was my first, but also because it takes you through every month and each season of the year. Especially good if you can’t make it to the Friends Reunion for Gladys Taber, this is a little
because I am going to sign this lovely book to the lucky one of you whose name is drawn as the winner of this vintage copy (in almost brand new condition) of this out-of-print title published in 1976. Oh yes! I found it on a back shelf in a dark corner of a group antique mall on our trip across country and have saved it for today. Just leave me a comment and you will be automatically entered.
One Last Thing, almost a PS: There are always lots of fun ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s day, delicious recipes, lots of parades, prayers at church, and bagpipe music; they even dye the Chicago River green. But for those of you that would like a more sober look at a piece of Irish history, this lovely MUSICA is practically an Irish National Anthem. There was a story this Sunday in the New York Times … my girlfriend Lowely (Finnerty) from two doors over, brought some of her famous (still warm!) Irish Soda Bread to help Joe and I celebrate this morning. We smeared it with butter and ate it while we read the article and listened to the words of this song together. Then we cried. I felt like I wanted to add something meaningful to the celebration, so here you go ~ it’s history we never want to forget. (Spoiler alert: I must say I don’t agree with those that would politicize this subject as was done with this article, just so you know. There is nothing political about hunger and the story is important; as my mom used to say, there is a difference between right and wrong. I try and think about it the way St. Patrick would wish for me to do and toss in a bit of common sense for luck ♣. We can’t change the past but as Oprah put it so perfectly, “We did then what we knew how to do; now that we know better, we do better.”) Blessings to us all dearest Girlfriends. XOXO (Don’t forget to leave your comment for Best of Stillmeadow!♥)
BACK TO BOOK WRITING . . .
Thank you for providing me with a new author to read! I will look thru our eLibrary to see if they have anything available by Gladys Tabor. I am always looking for “American Authors”…so glad to have a new one to research. The top o’ the day to ye!
What a coincidence! I just finished my first Taber book about an hour ago, THE BOOK OF STILLMEADOW. What a delightful book, reminding us to be thankful for all that nature and its corresponding seasons has to offer. It reminded me of my favorite British books by Miss Read. I am excited to be included in the drawing! Thank you.
I love Gladys Taber and her books. Enjoy every one of your post and specially this last one about St. Patrick Day!
Thanks for posting the link to the NYT article. It saddens me when we forget the value of learning from history, no matter our political views.
Happy St. Patricks Day, hopefully we won’t just be wearing green, but soon we will see green out our windows.
Enjoy every one of your blogs, this one specially about St. Patrick Day!
Top of the Day to you! Pick me, pick me, pick me please!
Susan, you are so thoughtful! Every time you post here, we receive a beautiful gift from you! I am anxious to read something of Gladys Tabors. I just picked up buttermilk to make Irish soda bread! Yum!
Jack is adorable. I would chase him around too. I am always taking pics of my cats with my iPad. I would post one here for you but I don’t know how to!! I have never heard of Gladys Taber, but would love to learn more. I am sure if you love her, I will too! Happy St. Patricks Day!!
Thank you for sharing the ever handsome Jack’s green eyes today. Congratulations on your Spring Tea and notecards, too! I’m dreaming of reading this book. One can dream! Thank you for a lovely blog and great products. My mom is filling out the copy I gave her of Mom Tell Me Your Story, Please!
Loved your post today & the wonderful pictures of Jack! Also loved the books by Gladys Taber and read most of them years ago. Would be great to have this one to read again and keep forever!
I love Gladys Taber’s writing, too. I used to cut her columns out of my mother’s magazines.
I love Gladys Tabor and thank you for a chance to win this wonderful book! I’m Irish on my father’s side, my great-grans came from Ireland, Co. Meath & Co. Sligo. I traveled to Ireland in 2001 and want to go back again…I loved it there so much and the musica I’m listening to right now is making me cry! Slainte!
It’s that connection that never goes away, even if you have never been there, sometimes you can still feel it.
I always love a new post from you, Susan! I would also love to win the Gladys Taber book. I have never had the opportunity to read any of her books. Thanks for the chance to win 🙂
I started reading Gladys Tabor several years ago because you were quoting her so often on your calendars. I kept wondering who she was. I LOVE reading her books! Oh Vanna, pick me please!!
Love, love, love the pictures of Jack! My James would never let me read in peace, either! And I love that, among all the other wonderful blog things here, this is a “kitty friendly” zone!
Love your post, it makes me feel good reading about all the fun things you are doing. Also love all books by G. Taber & would love to win. Thanks for sharing.
Happy St Patrick’s Day everyone! I’m 100 percent Irish so this is my day.
Spring! Today was 76 degrees at my house in So. Cal. A beautiful breeze blew all day and I felt compelled to clean windows!! I love Spring even if I live somewhere it isn’t very often cold! I hope your Spring comes soon. Susan!! Thanks for sharing your treasures with us!
Happy St. Paddy’s day. I read on the web this morning that it is not St. Patty’s day, it is St. Paddy’s Day. So for the first time in all my years I would like to wish everyone Happy St. Paddy’s Day from the land where rivers turn green with the help of a speed boat and chemicals. LOL
Even though I don’t have a drop of Irish blood that I know of, I always enjoy celebrating today. Since I don’t eat meat, I’ll be making a noodle dish with veggies, instead, which of course will be green 🙂
SPRING? Really I live in Minnesota and they are predicting more snow tomorrow. YIKES!!!!!! Please enter me in the drawing for Best of Stillmeadow, sure could use some sunny inspiration around here.
Thanks, Denise
Iwould love to go to Ireland one day My dad’s family is Irish. I also love Gladys Tabor and would love to own one of her books. Irish blessings to you and good luck with the book.
I loved your post Susan. I read the New York Times article and I thought how hideous of someone to try to make political hay with a story about starving people. It just made me sick. I have read books about the Irish potato famine and people’s lives were destroyed. I found nothing inspiring about the article. Hope you had a wonderful Saint Patrick’s day and I am so thankful the Irish are no longer starving. They are a wonderful people.
I’d never read the story, so I was happy (and heartbroken) it was brought forward at a time where we are trying to come to terms as to where our tax money is to be spent. I just wish it hadn’t been connected to one particular person, but that’s what they all do. Make devils out of the opposite sides and concentrate on that rather than coming together to solve the problems.
My favorite nephew got to fly to Ireland and march with his school’s band (The La Canada Spartans, from Sunny California) in Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

And it’s returned . . . xo
Happy St. Paddy’s Day to one & all! Thank you Susan for the Irish Stew recipe, it sounds delicious and I will be trying it soon. I’m excited to hear more about the new books you’re working on too. Love the quick pics of Jack, your kitchen window, and your walks thru the woods…. Spring really WILL come, hang in there!
Hello Susan, my BFF (ha!). I just knew you would have a green posting on your blog for St Patty’s Day. I made fabulous chocolate mint cupcakes with green buttercream frosting, and sprinkled mint chocolate shavings over the top. my hint: at Christmas time at Williams Sonoma they sell tins of hot chocolate mix. I buy them afterwards on clearance (so sneaky!) and then, get this, I use the shavings for baking – mixed in with cookies, and mixed in with brownies and cupcakes, and sprinkled over the top of the frosting. oh so yummy! I prefer the mint chocolate and it’s so good mixed in with my baked goods. Anyway, everyone at work loved them today.
PLEASE pick me for Gladys Tabor! I have NONE of her books! 🙂 xoxoxox Barb
Oooohhhh, please enter me for the lovely cookbook! I’m going to look for one of her books – if you like her then surely I must like her too 🙂
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Susan and thanks for the delicious looking stew recipe!
I’ve clapped my hands, because I’m always happy when I read a blog from you. Thanks again,Susan, you’re the best.
Hello,
Thank you Susan. 🙂
I am excited for the opportunity to win.
My son checked immediately this morning to see if I was wearing green. He wanted to pinch me so badly. 🙂
Love your post today. Thank You!
Mothers, the gift that keeps on giving. xoxo
I love the sound of your Irish Stew. I made our beef stew with some Guiness added, which we are about to eat while watching “The Quiet Man” film with John Wayne. It’s our annual celebration.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day. My Mum’s maiden name was Shane. That’s where we get our Irish from. Corn beef, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, onions. Serve with soda bread hot out of the oven. Yummy. Top that with a cup of tea with and a baked apple. Yummy. Now I am looking forward to Maple Sugar Sunday coming up this Sunday. So much fun to go lots of places around Maine tasting fresh maple syrup and seeing how it’s made. We go every year. Thanks again for the lovely recipe. I will have to make yours. Looking forward in having a chance to win another great book. Love Books from great people like you. Thank you. Wish me Luck!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, and what a lovely story you told us. Thank you for the recipe, it sounds so good. Love reading your delightful stories….
Thank you Susan for a wonderful GREEN blog today! I am VERY fortunate to own 3 lovely copies of Gladys Taber’s books, yet not the one you are sharing with us today. She was an amazing soul, wasn’t she? My hope is to take a few days for myself this summer to attend the gathering at Stillmeadow….and to meet you!, well, Christmas in June for me! !
Love Gladys Taber! I have many of her books and I love when you quote her. Thru her I learned about Faith Baldwin and Hal Borland. Along with you, these are my favorites. Oh my, what a surprise to read of the double treat in Danbury. Trying for tickets!!!
Oh, how I admire Gladys Taber! I can just see this lovely book popping out from the shelf! What a wonderful post, Susan —- the music from “The Quiet Man” is one of those things that stay with you. I would absolutely LOVE attending the GT reunion. And a tour of Stillmeadow? It doesn’t get any better than that. I just may show up…
Wintry again here in North Carolina. Oh, dear. Spring weather will return. I’ve added two new donkeys to the menagerie here on Windy Hollow Farm, and the guys (Otis and Virgil) spent part of the day in their barn wondering where the nice weather had gone. What a welcome for my babies — sleet and rain and clouds. Anxious to bond with them in the sunshine!
Have a fabulous rest of the day!
Top o’ the mornin’ to ya!! Ireland is a beautiful country, rolling hills, sheep and brown bread, etc. etc. Thanks for the St. Paddy’s day post, among other ditties. And, thanks for the chance to win this wonderful book by Gladys Tabor 🙂
Your blog always brings a smile to my face. I miss the days you don’t share.
Happy St.Patty’s Day!! Our temperature matched the date this morning! Where are you spring?????? I’m so happy we have daylight back……xoxo
Love that kitty! Happy St. Patty’s Day!
The Irish Stew recipe sounds yummie…and over my favorite egg noodles – a must try soon recipe. Thank you. Corn beef and cabbage for me…cooked all day in the crock pot – has become kinda a tradition. Can’t wait to try your new tea – will be ordering some today…and sign me up for a possible “treasure” of a book. My two favorite things in the whole world: books and puppies!
You are like a breath of spring. Reading what you write makes me very happy! I do so hope I win this time.
thank you for reminding me of Gladys Taber and her Still Meadow stories – I have two of her books. I enjoyed traveling with you through the English countryside – looking forward to your new book.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Enjoyed your wonderful blog today.
May there always be work for your hands to do,
May your purse always hold a coin or two,
May the sun always shine warm on your windowpane,
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain,
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day God Bless you and yours.
Hi Susan! Another wonderful blog! It really perked me up after not feeling so good for the past couple of weeks. I have long been a fan of Gladys Taber’s books as well. Imagine my surprise when a gentleman recently came into the library where I work and asked if I had any of her books… then proceeded to tell me that he used to live next door to her! I was happy to be able to show him what books we have and also listen to his stories. That made my day…just as you always do with your cheerful writings, photos, and drawings! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy st patty day to you here in metairie/ new orleans we had parades here all day yesterday , and they throw carrots, potatoes, and cabbages . Makes a great soup. I want to try your stew , sounds yummy. It will be my next pot of food , that i cook. thanks for all your great recipes.
I have tried to find a Gladys Taber book for so long! They are very expensive on the internet and I have not had luck finding it in our library (I reserved a copy that the library eventually told me went missing : ( Would love to become familiar with her work! Happy St. Patty’s Day!!
I know, they are so hard to find. Probably no one wants to give them up.
Jack is such a ham! : ) And your Spring Tea sounds delicious. BTW, in a recent post, one of your photos had a small elephant pitcher on the table. I have the same pitcher! I’m 66 now, and my mom used that pitcher on our kitchen table ever since I was a little girl. It felt “neat” to have that connection to your collection. Thanks for the smiles ~
Thank you for making the wonderful book available.
My great grandmother could have been a younger version of the girl in the N.Y. Times article. She was sent as an orphan from Ireland during the famine and later was loaded on the Orphan Train to be “adopted” by a family as a servant far from home in Missouri.
All these years later, generations in fact, I remember her, especially on this day and hope that her courage and tenacity will always live strong in our family.
Thank you for your nice remembrance too.
Kindly,
Manette Anderson
Gladys Taber is a new author for me too. Can’t wait to read some of her work. I will need to do that instead of getting my garden growing which is still under a foot of snow! What a way to drown my sorrows.
I always love seeing your Beatrix Potter Figurines, staged on your kitchen window sill. The photo of ‘Tea Bag Joe’, also enhances the setting!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
Pat Bates
Exciting! I lived in Danbury, CT for 30 years before moving here to FL. I do wish I could come to the reunion and finally meet you in person. I’m going to try like heck. I only have one book by Gladys Taber, but I love it. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you 🙂 xoxo Jacqui
Thank you for introducing me to Gladys. I always look for her treasured books when I go antiquing. I did find her cookbook and it sits lovingly on my kitchen counter. Happy St Paddy’s Day to all!
I just love your blog posts with all the cute little graphics inserted between the lines.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Dear Susan, I have always been a fan. I have loved your books (just finished A Fine Romance, my favorite) your calendars, and now your blog. It’s been so fun to get to know you through your blog. Thank you for all you do and share! It’s been a lovely journey! Looking forward to more… With Love, Flo
xoxo Thank you Flo!
Let’s see…..reading Susan Branch’s blog in which she writes about speaking at the Friends of Gladys Taber Reunion while sipping tea from one of my many (thanks, Sue!) Emma Bridgewater mugs….does it get any better?
It’s the little things in life!
Happy St Patty’s Day to you…..thanks for the wonderful post.
I love Gladys Taber’s writing, and Stillmeadow, what great memories this brings back. I’d love to win the book, please enter me in the giveaway. Thank you, and happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and Joe and Green Eyed Jack.
Dear Susan, Just as you get joy from living with Jack, I have a Golden Retriever, Lily, that gives me “belly laughs” on a daily basis. Life is good! Pam
Jack is so cute! Who could resist that face! Had to laugh at him rolling around covering up the part you were trying to show. Such a kitty thing to do. Loved the musica you selected for the blog. Such fun!
Thanks for your new fresh-as-Spring blogs! Simmered the corned beef dinner all afternoon and it just hit the spot on this still chilly day. The photos of Jack are so cute. Can’t believe how green his eyes really are! Have my Gladys Taber newsletter and hope to meet you at the Saturday morning session in June. Good luck with the new book. Sounds like you’re right on track.
Thank you for such a good day on the blog. I know Oprah used the quote, but I loved the day that she interviewed Maya A. I copy and paste it for you.
Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
Maya Angelou
I use that to myself when I am discouraged about things! Glad for the reminder.
I heard that same interview … is it Maya that said it to Oprah? I’m sure it was, I will have to remember that! Thank you Jane!
Yes, Maya taught Oprah (and all of us) this important lesson! ♡ I can’t even count all of the times I’ve shared her words since that interview. Such wisdom!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Love the newest adventure of Jack. What is it about anything paper that cats love? My cats would always lay on top of the Christmas wrapping paper and make it challenging to wrap gifts. Miss them. Thanks for sharing Jack and Girl with us.
Love seeing into your daily life, thanks for sharing. Happy Paddy’s Day!
Gladys Taber was a big part of my childhood! My mother looked forward to her column every month in Family Circle magazine. She had all her books and I am now the keeper of those wonderful books. I have read and re read them and each time it is a pleasure to return to Still Meadow and her wonderful take on life. My mother would read those columns to me and we would live in New England through her wonderful writing and her recipes! Wish I could come to the reunion in June. Love your blog and all your books too Susan. Happy Spring!
So delighted to see Jack once again! He always makes my day! I have two kitties, too, and they are the loves of my life and make my home a home.
God bless us all on St. Patrick’s Day! Just listened to the Fields of Athenry . Had corned beef and cabbage yesterday at my mom (raised in Connemara) and dad’s and we played Irish tunes. When “Athenry” came on, my Mom asked us to switch it to something else. So moving.
About 25 years ago, I was going through a very sad time. Don’t know how but I found Stillmeadow on my local library shelves and Gladys Taber helped to make me happy again. I read through all that my library had (LOVE my library) and started to see if I could purchase a couple of copies of my own. I have reread the couple that I have many times. She really is a comfort. Slainte!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you, too. Had a nice boiled dinner, shared with family and friends.
After making three loaves of Irish Soda bread (one without raisins for the grandchildren who don’t like raisins), peeling five pounds of carrots, five and a half pounds of potatoes, three turnips, cooking them with two pieces of corned beef and two cabbages ( some veggies cooked separately for the vegetarians and vegans in the crowd), and making a batch of minty chocolate brownies (half without mint flavoring for the grandchildren who don’t like minty things), what a joy to finally sit down and read your blog today! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Susan! We had corned beef and cabbage and green iced cupcakes for our celebration. 🙂 Love your little Jack — we have a feisty Lana kitten who likes to curl up under the covers half the time and sink her claws into us the other half — never a dull moment with our felines that’s for sure!
I am teaching my students this week how to write an I Remember poem. As I am working with them and aswering their many questions, my mind is swirling with a flood of my own childhood memories. I now come home every evening and write a number of I Remember poems for myself in an attempt to capture some of the many treasured moments from the past. I cannot wait to read about your reflections and the stories they reveal.
I am surprised by them every day!
I discovered Gladys Taber and her Stillmeadow books a number of years ago and fell in love! Please I hope I win this book! I am not at all Irish but married an Irish-American 24 years ago and have a beautiful Irish claddagh ring for my wedding band.
I’ve been enjoying your blog. I would love to win this surprise!
Love your blog…would love the Gladys Tabor book.
I forgot one other thing! Love the cat pictures and your story to go with them. I needed that today!! Happy St. Patricks Day!!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’ve never read anything by Gladys Taber but will be searching for her publications. I celebrate the day with Irish Soda Bread – yum! And thank you for hosting another lovely giveaway!
Susan, so sorry that I don’t have one tiny little drop of Irish blood! Didn’t keep me from making corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots for dinner this evening! It was SO good. Then, to Top off March 17, your blog was here!!!! Happy, Happy!
Happy St Patrick’s Day! Enjoyed your post. Gladys Taber sounds so interesting. Thank you for introducing us to her awhile back (and again today). Have given some thought to attending the GT reunion/book signing in June, as I would love to tour her home (and meet you). Thanks for a chance to win one of her books.
My husband and I were very lucky to live in the Republic of Ireland for two years, a treasured time indeed! The Irish are a fun, crazy, lovely bunch, and we both shed tears as we left our friends! And the give away is lovely too!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Susan, Joe ( and all her fans)!! It’s so nice to have a mid-March holiday to celebrate and reason to prepare a lovely meal! We’re eating our share of Irish Stew and Soda bread. The Irish pubs up here in Calgary are packed as we drive home from work. Susan, do you or Joe have any Irish heritage? I’m only 16%Irish… but I’m claiming my heritage proudly!!
Thank you again for the generous give-away….
Fondly,
Nina
I am so glad you introduced me to Gladys Taber. I would love to read all about her. I found out that our library has one of her books about her time on Cape Cod. I just want to enter her world and walk and see all she writes about. Thank you for sharing so much of everything you love, because it turns out that I love it all too!!
Happy Saint Patricks day…wish I lived in your part of the world so I could come to hear you speak and tour still meadow!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Not sure if you know “Finnian’s Rainbow” but that is a wonderful musical for the occasion!
Happy St. Patricks Day to you, too. I’ve always loved this day for the music and Irish dancing, but there are two other things I like about St. Pats. One is I’ve never forgotten my first troll doll which had green hair and was given to me on this day many, many moons ago (I’ve loved that little thing to pieces) and the tradition I’ve had for years …. watching all the Irish goodies for sale on QVC. I really need to win a lottery! lol.
Hi Susan! I love surprises!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Susan! I’ve already won! You see, all last week I have been taking bets on when you would post another blog entry. I thought today would be the day and, dog gonnit, if I wasn’t right!
My husband, Mark and I watched ‘Miss Potter’ yesterday, so naturally you have been a wonderful topic of conversation for us. I brought out your new book and showed him your entries when you visited Beatrix Potter’s home. Aren’t the connections we make magical?
Hope you all have a remarkable day today. Can’t wait for your next book to come out. Thanks for taking us on your fantastic ride!
Love you forever, one of The Girlfriends, Angie Scott-Chavez
Yes, they are magical! xoxo
Hope the new book is going well. I love A Fine Romance & am looking forward to reading the new one. Thank you for the opportunity to win the Gladys Taber book – it looks fabulous.
Hello Susan,
Would love to win this book. I plan to read some of her works and think that I will probably remember reading them when I was younger! I have always read a lot and now find that it is harder to remember what I have read!! Hoping spring is around the corner!
I read Gladys Taber’s books many years ago from the library and loved them. It was such a different time, and I enjoyed reading about the long winters and the beautiful arrival of spring and the wonderful summers at Stillmeadow.
Here in Southern California we’ve had spring weather all winter this year, and I for one am not complaining a bit. Aside from the drought worries, I’ve enjoyed every second of our balmy winter and I’m clapping my bony little hands in anticipation of the first day of spring. The roses are blooming and life is good.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Susan!
Many thanks for another opportunity to win a great book. Maybe the luck of the Irish will shine upon me and I will win it. Happy St. Patty’s Day!
Top o’ the evening to you and Joe and Jack and Girl! Thanks for the wonderful-as-always post for St. Patrick’s Day. Can’t wait to try the stew. Just got my copy of A FINE ROMANCE after trying to find it EVERYWHERE around here – and have to say – it’s BEAUTIFUL and I MUST get it for all my dearest friends. THANK YOU for being fabulous YOU! xoxo Thanks for thinking of us during your travels, and getting us little gifties along the way! 🙂
We were all in it together Sue, that’s what made it so much fun! I’m glad you enjoyed the final product!
The book is lovely, and I enjoy Gladys Taber’s writing so much…please count me in on this great give-away…..and THANKS! I love your blog and look forward to each new entry!
Susan, Beautiful Blog, as always!!!! I collect Gladys Taber books, Oh! How lovely to win this one!!!! Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and Joe!!!!
Thank you,
Bobbie
xx
A lovely post today, Susan!
And Jack with those green eyes and those widdle fangs! Sooo sweet! He has the same look in his eyes that he did for that bug so long ago – Ha!
Thank you for the reminder about Gladys Tabor. My mom loves her and we do not live far from there. I am not too familiar with her books though. Would love to win the book so we can share it! 😀
Would love a chance at this book! Anything to make me feel close to “home”.
Susan: that Irish Stew recipe looks so yummy. I can just imagine it bubbling on my stove, the heavenly scent filling my home. Jack is adorable. Kitties are the best, aren’t they? They can amuse themselves and us for hours. Those green eyes of his are mesmerizing! Frankly, I think he loves the camera – he is just trying to be cool…
I hope you had a wonderful St. Paddy’s Day. Still cold here – in the 20’s – but the snow is steadily melting and we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. Spring will be here soon!
What a beautiful cover on Gladys Taber’s book that you have generously offered to one of the special girlfriends.
Good Luck everyone!
My Irish eyes are smiling, just remembering how you introduced so many of us to Gladys Taber! ♧ I was enchanted as I read Best of Stillmeadow through our inter-library loan. What a treasure!! Someone will be VERY lucky this St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy Writing, Susan!
Love,
Dawn
