I have bought several of your wonderful books over the years. Don’t know how I did it, but read your last three in backwards order! I truly wish you could host a trip to England where we all cruise over and you are our guide. Of course it would not be two months but perhaps two weeks. I read that one first and bought a copy to give to a friend. I then started Isle of Dreams and feel in love with you and Martha’s Vineyard. I’ve never been there but calculated it to be about 12 hours from my home in Chagrin Falls. By the way, I missed your book signing in Hudson, Ohio, but have now signed up to get emails from The Learned Owl. In the middle of reading Isle of Dreams, I started The Fairy Girl. Reading them at the same time, I was drawn to Martha’s Vineyard more. You see, I’ve always wanted to see all of New England , but only managed to see Stow, Vermont )3 times) and Newport twice (on a cruise ship tour)
. We are about the same age and I relate to many things you grew up with and things you find comforting; such as fires going, kitties, snow, alone time and of course ENGLAND! I don’t know if I will ever get the opportunity to meet you ( and don’t know if I could even speak) but I love you work and hat is enough for me! Thank you for sharing all of your life, Susan. A life well lived!

  4. Hi Susan,

Just finished reading your new book and it was wonderful. I was doing good until I got to the epilogue and then my eyes filled up with tears- the kind that really burn your nose. I’m so glad you got your happy ending! I have all your books and got your first cookbook back when it first got published so it was fun to hear about all that. I’m just sorry that I didn’t come for the signing and those chocolate eclairs but I would probably have been escorted out for eating too many like the guy! Since I spend my summers on Prince Edward Island and channel Anne whenever I can, I do we believe we are kindred spirits. Congratulations on all your success.

    • sbranch says:

You are so sweet Loribeth, thank you for taking the time to tell me! I forgive you for the eclairs!

Reading your books feels like ive actualy gone into it (not that other books dont) but yours do it the most THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR BOOKS !!!!! I really dont think i could survive without them LOL

  6. So enjoyed seeing you last Saturday in Woodstock. I was the old lady that looked on lovingly while you opened your gift from a fellow SB fan that I met that very day. Serendipity!! Because I love authors and especially women who made their mark with their words, and I can tell you do, I want to remind you of an local writer that I think you would enjoy. Celestine Sibley wrote for the Atlanta Constitution many years ago. She lived in a log cabin that she came across and fell in love with even as new McMansions were being built all around it. She wrote many books about her world and people around her. If you love Gladys Tabor (and thank you for the introduction) I think you will love Celestine too. I hope you enjoy her works as much as I.

    • sbranch says:

Thank you so much for the reminder Nancy, I wrote that down, and hopefully I’ll have some time soon to go and investigate her books. And thank you for coming to Woodstock . . . I had such a nice time there! xoxo

When I get home and have a little time to reconnect to house, kitties, normalcy and all of that, I have some brewing ideas for something “next.” Love the input!!! xoxo

    What is moderation?
My blog seems to be frozen in place waiting moderation?
    What is that?

    • sbranch says:

It’s me. I’m the “moderator.” Just hard to get computer connection sometimes from where I am…so I don’t get to “approve” the comments fast as I should! But here I am Mary Ann, sorry!

      • Mary Ann says:

        Oh ok
I didn’t know what that was
I know you both will be so glad to be back home
And thankful the long trip was safe

I just finished Martha’s vineyard I am 50 with dyslexia this is the first chapter book I have ever read cover to cover it was just so good from the first page I could not put it down but I really think that the fact that it was hand written had a lot to do with it. Thank you for all your hard work I loved it

Can not wait to hear about your visit to Woodstock, GA. So sorry about the heat that day. Supposed to have been the hottest day of the year. Have fun, safe travels.
