Happy New Year

Happy New Year darling Girlfriends! 🎊🎉 MUSICA

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! It went so fast, a blur of fruit cake, cookies, twinkle lights, and beloved faces!

We made it through another year! I  stopped by to wish you all the most wonderful of New Year’s Eves, quiet or raucous, whatever your choice, may all your New Year dreams come true. My gift to you this evening . . . a little bit o’ Jack:

When we come in from shopping or walking . . . we are met by Jack, always waiting, he flops to the floor . . . I can see him through the window in the door before I even turn the key, he hears the car pull in and is busy rolling around in seeming ecstasy before we get inside.

… stretching ~ begging to have his tummy rubbed!

. . . squirming, wiggling, and yawning,

. . . cute-pawed,

. . . ridiculous, so-soft and furry, adorableness,

a flirty,

. . . precious boy. Worth going out just to come home. I’m humming, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas . . .🎵 Was just wondering, has everyone got a kitten? Or two or four? Or a doggie, or some sort of petty pet to take your minds off your troubles and meet the New Year in style? Go get yourself one! Make it your resolution! Worth their weight in gold! Anyone can tell you! They make you laugh every day. Read “Life of Jack” for more good kitty information. 💞

I’ll be back soon to show you pictures of Christmas! Our English people came over! It was so much fun!

Already New Year’s Eve! 🎉We’re going to Lowely’s (girlfriend down the street) tonight to celebrate with dinner and champagne and a wild and crazy game of Pictionary with some of our nearest and dearest! I’m bringing a Blueberry-Lemon Angel Food Cake with Lemon Glaze . . . I just made it. All air and egg whites, to make up for the debauchery of the last couple of weeks: See’s Candy. Monks Fruit Cake. Pumpkin Cheesecake. Sugar Moon Brownies. Need I say more????? I don’t think so. (But you know I could very easily say a whole LOT more.)

Here’s the cake. . . waiting for me to turn it out onto a stand and drizzle it with glaze. I’m putting candles on it too, we’ll drink a cup o’ kindness and do the ring thing, everyone will put their rings around the candles, then we’ll make wishes for 2019 and blow them out,💫 counting our blessings that in all the world, we managed to find each other to go through this life with.💞And you, thank you for your luv-lee friendship of the past years . . . it has been such a pleasure. I never imagined a blog would be such an important part of my life, but it is! Because of you, Girlfriends! 💞 I love sharing the planet with you! 🎊

S E E   YOU   NEXT   Y E A R  !  XOXOXOXOXO

It came from a special little food and beverage shop in our hometown that has been in business for over 80 years and has been passed down generation to generation by the same family it is called Collins Fine Foods. Lovely shop, they always have baskets piled out front of the large glass windows that are covered by a red & white striped canvas awning.

Merry New Year, Susan, to you and yours! A happy 2019 to you!

  90. Patty McDonald says:

Happy New Year to you and your family. YOu are so right……animals bring such joy. We started 2018 with 2 yellow lab sisters (14 plus years), a coon hound, and a 3 year old yellow lab. The 2 sisters passed away of natural causes. Our coon hound was always following her nose ( and climbing trees). She climbed a tree and got out onto the road with disastrous results. Our hearts are still breaking. For Christmas, we bought our 3 year old lab a puppy. Really it was for us but we told Mazie it was her baby. Within 6 days that beautiful baby was sick with parvo. All very heart breaking. We have bleached everything…..including our grass twice! We are not deterred. Our plan is to go through our hot summer ( ultra violet rays kill the parvo virus) and then adopt an adult dog. We live on 2 acres so people assume we have dogs because of the size of our place. But our pups bring so much joy into our lives and they are in our house more than they are outside……..they sleep inside too.
Love your blog and being taken along on your vacations! Thank you for letting us into your home. Patty McDonald

    • sbranch says:

Happy New Year to you, Joe, and Jack and all the Girlfriends!

  93. Sarah says:

Oh, this is the loviest New Year’s wish, Susan! Yes, everyone needs a four legged furry friend in their lives. Golden, indeed!!! Our Sadie is the joy of our lives, always patiently waiting by the upstairs window till we return, then rushing down the stairs to dance around in excitement as we come through the door. Oh, to be so loved!!! Yes, everyone should give themselves this joy in 2019 if they don’t have a pet. Love seeing these cute photos of Jack. His sweet face is enough to melt ten thousand hearts! The ring thing??? I don’t know about that tradition. Tell me more. As for the cake, I’m rushing to find the recipe. I must make this. Yes, there it is! Page 137 in the 30th Anniversary book. Oh, this sounds delicious. A dozen egg whites! My kind of cake!!!
Enjoy your celebration with your friends. I look forward to seeing more of your Christmas celebration. I love seeing photos of inside your home! Please do share more. Merry, Merry and Happy New Year to you and Joe and Jack!!! 😘😘😘

Ahh, New Years Day IS my oldest son’s real birthday! I wonder if Charles Lamb is related to our marina owner Larry. The Lamb’s have been in NC since the 1600s! In 2018 we finished the outside of our house and sold our Trawler. 2019 will be serene!!

  96. Karen Sundberg says:

My sister gave me your book about England for my birthday and I have been hooked ever since. Your books, recipes, pictures and blog have brought me much joy. Thank you for what you do and your outlook on life, taking notice of all the little things. God bless you, Joe and the kitties for the New Year!

Please give Jack an extra belly scratch from me. He is so adorable. Blessings to you and Joe. You make my world a much happier place

Happy New Year to you and all your beloveds, sweet Sue! You are surely a blessing to me, and for that I am truly thankful. Hubby and I are awaiting the arrival of another blessing, our 10 year old grandson…he’s spent every New Years Eve with us since he was born, and we cherish the tradition. We’ll have steamed shrimp tonight, and tomorrow’s dinner will be pork and sauerkraut…another tradition here in PA Dutch country! Hugs to you, dear heart❤️

I’m looking forward to hearing about Christmas with your friends from across the pond! Your table setting in the candlelight is so lovely. I love candlelight and old crystal or glassware. We keep our window candles lit through the winter – cozy and welcoming and speaking of love in our home. Jack is a sweetie! He knows how to be the center of attention. Thank you for sharing your life with us. May 2019 be a year of peace, good health and kindness for all.
