Cold and Flu Season

Popping in to say hello and Rabbit-Rabbit! I have a brand new post all ready for you, with all kinds of excitement I can’t wait to share, but we’ve had an outbreak of the flu at the Studio and the finishing touches for the new post won’t be available until Kellee gets back on Monday! Don’t worry, she’s  already feeling better, it’s just your normal run-of-the-mill horrible flu, poor baby! 🤧 🤒

I hope you’re all getting thawed out from the last few days ⛄️ . . . and geared up for football this weekend, and feeling well yourselves! We’re healthy here, Jack’s telling me to take the weekend off (more time to shoot rubber bands!). But I’m still working on the 2020 Calendars so I’ll keep busy and give you a preview soon! XOXOXO See you! Love . . . me.💞

My library’s Cookbook Book Club spent this past Monday, February 4th talking about your books and eating food we made from them! Most recipes came from Heart of the Home but it’s a big group so we had a variety of books. I also did a giveaway of extra copies of your book that I had on hand (I never know who I’m going to share them with for gifts!)

We had a great time and wanted to tell you that you have gained 10 more fans in northern Rhode Island!

  20. Sarah Page says:

Reading this is like escaping to heaven for a little bit. I love seeing that beauty still exists in this world. And I am really hoping for a movie. I know I will purchase it and watch it over and over. If it’s on the big screen, I will be the first in line for sure! Thank you for doing what you do and making us happy. Thank you for sharing so much of your life with us.

  24. Suzanne Conlon says:

    This made my day!

  25. Leesa says:

With polar vortex sub-zero temps, gusting winds making the snow swirl and the roads treacherous, it was wonderful to get home safely and find a Willard in my email – the perfect way to cozy in and unwind now that I’m in my favorite chair with my own sweet kitty. Thank you Susan for making my world a more beautiful place 🙂

  27. Justine Regan says:

A perfect end to my day reading your musings. Such a delight, many thanks xx

  28. I am so sad that Willard will not be sent out separately. Now that your blog has become a political forum there will not be a venue in which to enjoy your thoughts, recipes, and artwork without that from which many of us are seeking a respite. Truly the non-political and enchanting Willard will be missed.

  29. Penelope Rieck says:

Susan, pls make a ceramic, heat proof large teapot holder for my table?
I love all your designs, so pls yourself and I will be pleased too!
If you already have something in you collection for a hot pot that would work too.
I just want you in my kitchen!

  30. Denise says:

I have the collection of your first Willards and hope that you will offer the rest of the Willards in a new collection. AND…a bound collection of your blogs would also be welcomed.

  39. Sherrie Glendening says:

I hadn’t received your posts for a long time, so I was really happy to sign up again so that I won’t miss anything. On the other hand, now I can binge read all the older posts that I missed.
I was delighted to listen to your selections of 1940’s music, which are my favorite. I’ve often wondered what about the war years, with all the troubles, heartbreak, and separations, is so compelling. I adore movies and music from those sad times. I guess, in a way, they remind me of my parents, and their love story. My mom was 18 and working at a airplane factory while carrying on a long distance romance with my dad, who was a tail gunner on a B 25 stationed on Corsica. Dad’s airplane was shot down over Italy, with the other surviving crew members being picked up and returned to their base the same day. Dad, however, hesitated before jumping out of his aircraft. Unfortunately, he was captured by Italian farm workers and turned over to the Germans. There he was, a twenty year old Kansas farm boy, mistreated and starved in a prison camp until he was finally released ten months later by British soldiers who had captured the prison camp and it’s guards. We have the telegram that was sent to my mom to let her know he was missing in action. Thankfully, he recovered and was sent home. He and mom celebrated 63 years of marriage, and produced four children. They were all so young and brave. Times of war seem to condense lives. Everything has to move quickly, and the outcome is so uncertain. It ended happily for my family, but not so for so many other families.
I guess I got off the subject of your blog, which I so enjoy. I look forward to receiving your posts regularly. Thanks for all the joy they bring.

  47. Maureen Abramson says:

I started this twice on my cell phone when there was only one post but my phone wasn’t completely cooperating. I was sitting with my hubby who is in the hospital with severe bilateral pneumonia and so happy to see your blog pop up. He’s coming along slowly, but thankfully he’s going in the right direction.

I love this post. Perfect time of year for all of us to get our houses in order. The stores are filled with boxes and bins to help us. I remember reading how you take everything out of the room before and thought that was such a great idea. I haven’t taken the furniture out when doing that, but do move it around. I love these new cups too! Must order. Your blog is always a peaceful break, and kind of a little escape, and always brings a smile to my face. And, I actually remembered to say rabbit-rabbit upon waking this month. 🙂 Happy February!
