I loved this last post before Christmas because today, I have a heart that is finally shed of some burdens, allowing me to really feel your words & all the special quotes you’ve included. Thank you so much for the cheery reminders to shine the light for others, as well as to count my blessings and to let joy in.
I also wish to thank you especially for hope. Over the years a dear heart friend, Sue Shanahan, has been kindly gifting me some of your books at Christmastime because they’re not available in my country (Malaysia). So, in my treasure chest, I am now the proud owner of the best books ever – Fairy Tale Girl, Isle of Dreams, Home for Christmas and Distilled Genius. Susan, your books have gotten me through some of the hardest years, most recently this year. There were a couple of rough months of worry and frustration. I almost lost hope too – until something or Someone led me back to Isle of Dreams. Re-reading that book returned hope to my heart and helped me get to this point of happiness and peace today.
I pray that the blessings you have helped us to receive are gifted back to you in some way. I cannot thank you enough for the light that you are to me, through the books and also through your blog. Merry Christmas to you and Joe!

Maybe I DO have the Happy Gene. Even with all of “this”, when I come downstairs in the morning a see the beauty that surrounds me, my heart feels so full. Love the video of the Lady with the bluest eyes and those flower arrangements. What a dose of Joy!

I hand painted a faux fireplace on our living room wall because the furniture didn’t have anything to center it. I did this 25 years ago when we moved into this old house. If you’d like to see it I have it on my blog from a few years ago in 2015 at Catherine Holman Folk Art. My husband made the mantel and the hearth.

I know how you feel💞, I did a whole ode to our old New England house for my 2027 calendar, a history, a thank you, a fare thee well. Thirty five years of magic, what a blessing for a girl dreaming of New England even while growing up in California. I was perfect for it, and it was perfect for me. And it was perfect for US! And Joe, and cats, and all our friends. It RANG with joy at holidays, in the summers, in the garden, in each of the rooms that smelled of wisteria outside the windows all spring. LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY! I couldn’t leave without a proper goodbye and I think this calendar is it. 💖
