oes it look normal around here to you? ummm, yes?–no? Wait a minute . . . .
did I not tell (warn) you we would be doing this? Were you losing faith? I know it’s taken forever, but if you saw what’s holding this thing together (duct tape and kite string) you would understand why.
efore we go further, I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this blog happen, Kellee Raser, Gary Gatel and Judy Watkins, and who else — all you patient people with your emails of encouragement! Hello FOSB! Hi Diane, Gayle, Elaine, Sharon, Terrie, Sarah, Rachel, Siobhan, Elizabeth (I can do this now ’cause I have a blog!), Hi Dad, Shell, Lowely, Martha, Margot, Annie, Carol, Jaime. Hi Tweetettes! Hi all my friends and family. So 21st century! We have to keep meeting like this!
espite the fact that this is a blog now, nothing has really changed, there are new free screen savers, stationery, and bookmarks you can print out; they’re in the same place they’ve always been (in Shopping, under From Me to You with Love). You are safe here, click on everything and take a tour . . . it won’t blow up on you (I always think if I click wrong, the computer could explode) … and tell me what you think.
ou can visit Martha’s Vineyard and go across the pond to England; plus, there are all new recipes for Summer. And lots of fun menus (just click on the words in the menus, and you get the recipe). We even have FAQ’s. We’re very professional! Pretty soon there will be more pictures of the Peter Rabbit room; more short videos, Stories of Home, Kitchen ideas, and a lot more. So stay. Take off your shoes, I’ll go make tea!
Hi Laura, Gert, Pam, Sandy, Dawn, Nancy, Sherrie, Joann, Angie, Erika, Joan, Rosinda, Erin, Jan, Morwenna….
or a few days, there may be a glitches in the shopping part of the blog…we had to unhook all the shopping wires from the website and rehook them to the blog, and maybe we missed a few. Would love your help, if you go shopping, and something’s not right, please click on Comments and let me know.
hat’s the best part….now you can leave your Comments and I won’t be the only one who can read them! You will finally get to see how wonderful you all are, how much we have in common…from your letters, I already know we love all the same things — home, family, beauty, nature, creativity, tradition, inspiration, best friends, gardens, food, and fun. (Books, tea, quilts, and old movies. Autumn. Decorating. Travel. Just for starters.) We are multi-faceted women of the world. Yes, that is us.
o if you feel like testing out our Comments, please be my guest; you know I can’t wait. Tell me what you’d like to see most on this blog. You’ll still be getting your WILLARDS; there will still be art and quotes, recipes and photos, all the I can possibly stuff into one space.
Oh, my…here it is…so much anticipation…but, you made it happen, with all of your touches…your creativity, your love, your wit…Live, from the Vineyard, it’s Susan Branch! yipeeeeee…xoxox
Laura — Who could ask for more for a first blog comment! Sweet of you to leave it, lovely to wake up to! Still not telling everyone about the blog yet, only told Twitter so far, we’ll make first announcement at the end of the month in my next WILLARD. Want to make sure it doesn’t self destruct! Have a wonderful day! Thank you! Susan
Love the new format. I am new at this stuff but thought I would give it a try! I made the pineapple upsidedown cake this week…. Absolutely fabulous. I made this cake years ago but it never tasted this good. Especially with the cold vanilla sauce. Yummy….. Thanks again for your inspiring ways!
Miss Lucie
Isn’t this a totally darling blog. As always I love the pictures, so full of heart and soul they are. Princess Leia got your hair but I’m Yodaing you. Keep up all the great work.
THE Nancy–see above!
PS I love the rss feed idea. I never know when blogs are out except when people mention them in tweets.
Umm yes I do love the IDEA of the rss feed but I clicked on it and got a page of many letters, no actual sentences. Did it work? The computer didn’t blow up.
Thanks Nancy, am telling Gary, he will fix it. Hooray on not blowing up computer, the papers would have a field day with it! On my first day, losing funniest tweeter.
same rss feed issue..and by the way, our ever-faithful aol still links to your old webpage rather than blog…so, your secret is safe for a little longer to some! Good news travels fast, so get ready!! xo
Yay! It’s here & it’s just as beautiful & amazing as you are my darling friend! So happy for you (& us!) & can’t wait to see it all grow & unfold. Happy Friday! Love you xoxo

Susan,
I’ve been a fan of yours for so many years – and now you have a blog! It just makes things right in this world!
It also gives me a chance to tell you that your illustration of the three girls is one of my absolute favorites, because it reminds me of my two sisters and myself – hair color and all (I’m a redhead and the oldest, the middle sister is a brunet with curly hair, and the youngest is a blond). Thank you for sharing your artwork with us. I love how you have colored the world.
Thank you all so much, it’s a thrill, really, to finally be here! And look how darling you all are! xoxo
Love, love, love! I feel like I’m hanging out with my best girlfriends. This is wonderful.
How wonderful, Susan, to have this bright new blog to look forward to every day! Checking out your FB page has become a regular part of my day and now the blog and all the great comments from the wonderful Susan friends!

Oh my Goodness! Hi Susan- you are an old friend in my heart. I’m a FOSB and one of your Twitter friends. Can’t wait to add this blog to my reading routine. God Bless! Jacqui in Sunny South Florida (and missing my New England Roots)
Oh, this is so delightful. I’ve been a fan of your books for awhile now 🙂 🙂 I LOVE the Willard that comes via e mail..and all the artwork, quote etc. No space goes unused. It’s filled with something good 🙂 🙂 I shared the link to your blog on my Facebook page. When I do my next blog post, I’ll post a link there too for any ladies interested in visiting 🙂 🙂
When I read about your Peter Rabbit room, I had to sm ile. I actually have a Peter Rabbit tea cup (or maybe it’s a coffee cup) with a Christmas theme. I found it at a yardsale for $1. It was the only one. If there were others, I would have purchased them. It’s so sweet and sit on my wooden teahouse shelving on the wall 🙂 🙂
Have a great weekend. love and hugs from Oregon, Heather 🙂
Thanks to Susan and all who worked so hard on this blog…lovely, and charming! You have added yet even more color and quaintness (is that a word?) to the day! I love being able to connect with likeminded women!
Hi Susan from St. Paul, MN. Love the new blog! I’ve been a “follower” of yours for a long time without a way to comment back (except the email I tried recently). Haven’t figured out Twitter, am probably too “wordy” for it, and besides that, I’m afraid it would be too addictive! 🙂 Thanks for all the good recipes and artwork, happiness and brightness, and fun you share with all of us!
I am soooooo happy you are here…I have been a long-time fan!!!! Your blog looks awesome!!! I just finished writing my little daily happenings on my Susan Branch calendar that hangs in my kitchen…XXXOOOO
SO worth the wait!! It’s like the beloved Willard, but more frequent!! 🙂
I have to say that I’ve been such a loyal and doting fan for so many years! I recommend your books to everyone. Each season or holiday, I reach time and time again for my Susan Branch books for inspiration! There’s so much beauty in this world ~ so much to admire and be thankful for…we would all be wise to live our lives focused on the positive and uplifting over the junk food culture that’s all too prevalent these days 🙁 Kudos to you for reminding us to stop and smell the peonies once in a while ~ these simple joys of life should be appreciated to the fullest!
Love the new blog! I really like the photos of your yard, garden and container garden and I am getting so many great ideas!! Been a fan for years!
Oh, I am so excited!! Your elves did a wonderful job – gorgeous blog! I can see my boss won’t be happy about this . . . I will be visiting often 🙂
Hi Susan – how fantastic that you have a blog and I can leave comments from “across the pond”! I live in the depths of Devon England overlooking the River Tamar, and have ALL your books on the shelf in my kitchen! I discovered you over 20 years ago whilst on holiday in Cape Cod, and your calendars grace my kitchen walls year on year – love your art, love your recipes and love your outlook on life! Thank you for everything!
Yay!! Love it! Oh thank you once again for putting me a “Susan State-of-Mind”. I love your new BLOG!! Congratulations!! Your website and Willard emails are always such a pleasure for me. Just Beautiful!!!
My kids just got out of school this week and summer has began. This is my little breath of fresh air and relaxing time as I snack and sip something yummy in the afternoon. It’s become my happy place when the beach is gloomy.

how exciting,, I’m a newbie blogger as well, just one moth or so.I just have to tell you what an influence in my life you have been. All without you even knowing,, lol.I was badly injured in a fall and too make a long boring story short , long recovery,, slowly accepting my vision loss was helped all a long the way with your books,, yup,, they were my medicine,, Living in Northern Ontario Canada not an easy thing to find,, my husband special ordered them one by one for me and you were my constant in a very uncertain world. That was ten years ago,, I have now lost all my vision in one eye and partial in the other,, I started my art blog a month ago and I’m enjoying it so much.I’m going while the going is good,, I want to thankyou Susan Branch for helping me to carry on,,
Love you for “going while the going is good” that’s the exact thing! Get it while it’s hot, Life…however it comes, is yours for the believing. Congratulations on your new blog, I will have to get over there and see your art. xoxo Susan

I love this! My first “Susan Branch thing” was the baby book, bought in Marblehead, MA in November of 1992. I cherished that book and lovingly filled it up with my handwritten notes and pictures. That” baby” just turned 18 and graduated from high school. I’ve since filled out one Christmas memory book and am on year 4 of a second book. I love everything that you do! Congrats on this wonderful blog. ~ A fan from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Hi Susan –
I’m a fan from southern California, and have been in mourning since your store closed. How I miss it! But now, I can get my Susan Branch “fix” anytime via your wonderful blog! Yippee!! Congrats to you and your team for once again creating something that touches my heart!
I thank God for you and all the beauty and happiness you’ve brought into my life!! Thank you for sharing so much of your life with us!!!! And thanks for the new blog = ))
I LOVE this! and when you shout out names it reminds me of a TV show I watched as a child – I can’t remember the name… oh wait, I think it was Romper Room and I always hoped she would say my name (of course, she never did) but I saw my name up above – Sherrie – I’m sure it wasn’t to me personally but I am pretending it was! Keep up the great work – I’m sitting at my computer with my SB blotter under my keyboard!
P.S. I’ve never made a pineapple upside down cake but it looks so good I think I might try it for Father’s Day! xoxo
I just love everything you do….and have loved it for years! It truly is “A Happy Place” to come to. Thank you, thank you !!!
It was such a happy site to see on FaceBook that your blog was up! I couldn’t wait to add your blog to my Google Reader with all of the other blogs I read! As usual, reading your words and looking at the beautiful drawings/pictures always leaves me with a warm at home feeling! Thank You So Much !
Oh Susan, it looks fantastic…absolutely LOVE it 🙂
Oh I love this. Every time I look at one of your pictures I want to jump through and stay awhile. You bring the comforts of home to life. It’s very inspiring. Right now I’m redoing my kitchen in sort of a retro vintage style so I am searching the internet for ideas. You’ve already inspired me but it’s always fun to see what you have up your sleeve.
Keep up the good work.
Hugs
Kim
Hi Susan: Congratulations SB team, great BLOG! So much fun, cozy, friendly, pretty, & you sure have nice Girlfriends, Girlfriend. I feel like I’ve climbed inside one of your beautiful books! Thank you! xo
Oh Susan!! You and your team of special people have done an amazing job! Its brilliant!! Simply maaahvalous dahling! ~Heather
congratulations on your blog! i adore your artwork. it is joyful and inspiring! i think that unmarked plant in the planter is bacopa. it’s one of my favorite ‘drippy’ plants – it so artfully drips its way down a container. I have one in almost every planter i have. all the best, thea
I love that your Blog is up, and now we can keep up and read other comments also.
I have ben following you for sooooo many years, I love your illustrations and the fact that it is all done by hand first, that makes it all worth the wait for anything new you come up with.
Thanks for spreading such happiness in our worlds!
Your blog is so beautiful and so much FUN! Many, many, many years ago I was browsing in a book store and came upon your Christmas book. I just loved “everything” about it. I make the butter cookies faithfully every Christmas. Once my twins were old enough to stand on a chair and roll the dough it became a family tradition. (Santa thanks you for that recipe, too)That recipe helped start my “cookie cutter” collection. I have all your cookbooks and I love the watercolor paintings, the sayings, your stories and all the great recipes and ideas. Susan, you have made us all so happy. Thank you for your time and talent and love !!! 🙂
Susan- I have to tell you that I so truly appreciate your books, your Willards, your beautiful blog and YOU! Whenever I open one of our cook books or look at one of your calendar pages or visit you on the World Wide Web I feel at home. Maybe it is because growing up I didn’t have a mom who would or could show me what it was to love “home” (I had a loving mom but she was chronically ill all my life and unable to do many things). I didn’t even have any older Aunties or a Grandmother who showed me “home”. I’ve learned everything on my own…and a big part of all that learning has been YOU! Thank you for helping me create a HOME for my husband and children. Your recipes are part of almost every one of our holiday celebrations: Annie Hall’s Butter Cookies make Christmas for our family and your Coconut Layer Cake is my favorite birthday cake EVER!! We celebrate summer with your Green Apple and Blueberry Tart and autumn with your Gingerbread Cake. And Thanksgiving just wouldn’t be the same without you Cranberry Sauce (’cause we all know the feast is not a feast without all the side dishes;D). And this doesn’t even cover all the other days when we (my 4 daughters and I) turn to your cookbooks to plan tea parties, dinner, and everything else in between. So from my home to yours: THANK YOU!!
You make tears in my eyes. I almost don’t know what to say (and that’s saying something!). Thank you. And look at the mom you turned out to be, with all the love of home you’ve created for you and your family–you say I inspired you; we’re good for each other, it’s you that inspires me. xoxo
Such wonderful ‘eye candy’………I’ve waited so long for this most perfect blog. There are many blogs out there that are wonderful………..but this one fits me the best………and it’s beautiful as well………..I LOVE your sense of style………..color…..tastes……….indescribable!! Thanks for doing this. Love you!!!!! ; )
Susan, I am soooo happy that your blog is here!! Yay! Thank you for giving this beautiful present to your fans! 🙂
Susan, I just have to tell you I found one of your books before I was married and read it and read it and read it and it started a wonderful collection of your books. I still love that book and have charished it for the last 20 years?! (I’ve been married 17 now). I always enjoy your Willard’s….and I just love even reading your recipes. As I was cleaning this morning I found three sets of your stamps I had purchased…they will be used a lot now that I can find them!:) I just started blogging this year too, and I have to say, just jump in and do it…people are so nice and I’ve made so many wonderful friends. You probably didn’t even know we were all out here!
Kristen
Susan, Congrats and Thank-you for sharing.. Your work is so inspiring!
Well, now……I’m a bit slow on the uptake here! How did I not KNOW that there was a place for fun comments?!!! OMG! So, Sue, here I am NOW…just to chime in and say your blog is fabulous! The background is fresh and new and now, all of your fans can come here and say “Hi’!”…..we all want to stay connected and ‘in the know’ about all that is Susan Branch! Congrats on the brand new blog…we’ll be seeing you ~ here, on FOSB, Twitter and your much-loved Willards! Thank you for being here for all of us. You brighten our day and inspire us! ♥ much love xoxo peg
Found your blog through Twitter. Added you to my iPad home screen. Will be able to find you at any time with a touch to the screen. This is going to be a fun way to visit.
Must also share that my mother (age 94) has your delightful calendar hanging on the door at “the home”-we both refer to it daily. She always knows what’s happening and what day it is-me, not so much. I’ll give her the suggestion about making bookmarks-one of her daily must-haves.
Good luck! Cathybytheriver
Good luck with this new venture-all of your fans are going to love it.
What a special treat for a rainy Saturday afternoon!! Got my coffee, quilt and a few kitties..the blog looks great …so excited to be a part of it! 🙂
I am so happy to see your blog. Where Women Create posted the link on Facebook. You were brought to my attention years ago when I was teaching myself what it was to be a healthy woman. For years, your calendars hung and daily reminded me of the kind of Mother I wanted to be. You were one of the examples the Creator used to teach me what woman and mother were supposed to look like. Thank you for your great gift.
This is going to be so much fun, to follow you on a blog! We have a trailer down in Pismo Beach and were able to visit your store in AG and I love my pillow with strawberries on it that I purchased on that trip….was so sad to see the store closed. Do you still have a farm stand/shop in AG? Also, not sure if everyone knows….but I found SB pillows and chair pads on Sears/Kmart websites….awesome designs!
Looking forward to spending happy moments with you!
p.s. your recipe for stuffed eggs earned me a gold medal in our family 🙂
Welcome to true blog land!
I’ve loved your website, Facebook updates, and Willard. Not to mention getting to see your calendar each day (it was a Christmas gift from my daughter).
Now there is Blogdom to enjoy!
WOW! It is so fun and adorable…..I’m in love! Thank YOU so much for sharing this wonderful, happy and inspiring site with us!
best wishes to you!
Well, I found you through Cynthia, the miniature maker of extra-ordinary talent, so here I am. I love you blog but can’t quite figure out how to sign up as a follower. I don’t see the FOLLOW button on the top or on your side bar. Is this an option?
Love it here and I will be back. Loved you little kitty peeking over at you. I’m assuming it was on a chair and not a 5′ tall cat!?!
I LOVE IT! Beautifully done….in Susan Branch style! I will be here alot! <3
Oh Sweet Susan….so happy to have you blogging! Your wonderful books and ideas are woven all into my life. I am anxiously waiting for the next season book…and don’t worry i will be glad to wait. Your books are so worth the wait!

I love your new blog format, Susan! You’ve always brought a smile to my face through your books, website, and Willards, and now it’s nice to be able to communicate this way with you!
I’ve kept a blog for four + years now, and I’ve enjoyed meeting people from around the world through it. I know you will enjoy reading all your comments and learning more about your loyal fans.
Enjoy!

Your blog is just as charming & whimsically adorable as your art and your newsletter! congratulations on making “new media” as cozy & homey as possible. Sending out my admiration from one artist to another (thanks for the long-distance inspiration Ms. Branch!)
Good Sunday morning to you and Joe! Your blog and the changes here was such a wonderful surprise to open this morning!!! Love the art, love the MV pages, love your writing – just everything reminds me of what a wonderful creative woman you are and how you have been inspiring me ever since your first book came out. I can’t even tell you how many of my friends and family have received your books or seen your artwork and “things” in my home, my cooking and my life. Upbeat, fresh, creative – and that little bird is the sunshine of the morning to chorus with the real ones singing outside. Thank you for keeping him flying and chirping across the page 🙂 I miss the Cape and MV, and while I love my new home here in Virginia, your website always brings me back to what I loved best up there.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this wonderful connection!!! Best of success as it grows!
Susan – Well done indeed! No surprise, you never do anything less than PURRRFECT! I look forward to checking in on a regular basis, and even meeting some new folks who share a love for everything Susan Branch and “Heart of the Home”. Can’t wait to see what you are up to next. How about shipping the pineapple up-side-down cake?
XOXO Your Pal, Sarah
Girlfriend, you have made the BIG Leap into the vast world of blogging with your typical charm, humor, warmth and style! I love all the cooking demos…keep them coming. How about that Gazpacho with lobster recipe? It’s starting to be that time of year, when soon we’ll have sun ripe tomatoes and mysterious zucchini dropped on the back steps in the dark of night.
xoxo,
L.
PS Thank you for that delicious b-day cake and all the love that went into it!

Dear Susan,
So, happy for you and your blog! My best friends Mom, who always made us feel at home and welcomed in her home, gave me three of your cookbooks for my engagement in 1996 on L.I.!!! I married my husband from Mass. and we summer on the Cape! We have yet to get to Martha’s Vineyard! I feel like you have been a part of my marriage and home since then! I love your artwork, cookbooks and my address books from years ago! My friends all love coming over for Skip and Go Nakeds on a hot summer night with your cajun grilled shrimp and lemon linguini. I am a hero to my children when I make Mrs. McGurggler’s pancakes (my maiden name is McGurgan so that is soo close!) Thank you for all you do and the inspiration you give me. My guests always joke that we run the best B&B around, thanks to all of your helpful touches!!

Wow Susan, congratulations on having a blog! Hopefully you’ll have time to relax:-). I was inspired over the last 10yrs, & handwrite cards & use your stickers to take pixtures of my homemade food, desserts or crafts outside and on pretty dishes. I used to go to my favorite stores and buy one dessert plate on sale or paint my own at pottery place and use those to put Annie Hall’s butter cookies or Molasses cookies on. I also wrote you many years ago and loved when you wrote back personally on your own stationary. I found your fabric and made some quilted pillow covers for gifts and also made a small tablecloth with my Mom. I have a vegetable garden and find it so relaxing to go in it everyday and even take pictures of the blooms before the vegetable is out.:-). When I make homemade strawberry jam I want to put your red fabric on lid because it is prettier that way.
