The possibilities are endless! You could “talk” to us about…anything! Maybe a cooking demo, maybe a news report…maybe even read a sneak preview to us of your new book. Can’t wait to see what you will come up with- you’re so creative, I’m sure it will be wonderful (and worth the watch).
    PS Pretty kitty:) ♥
    FOSB 4-ever,
    Jacqui

    • Joan Tornquist says:

Or, you might show us how to properly put on pillowcases!!!

      • Doreen Strain says:

Or maybe you could just sit and have a cup of tea with us and tell us how your day is going and what your up to. Oh…this is going to be good…I just know it. Jacqui’s right, the possibilities are endless! Great job girlfriend! I’m so excited! FOSB 4-ever ! ~ Doreen ~

  2. Lori says:

Purr-fect! What would we do without our fur children?

  3. monica says:

Love it!! What a baby! Thanks for sharing :0)

  4. Sheryle Towle says:

Adorable!!!!! I love her kitty face. Just had a kitty move in with us…”Serenity”. She loves sitting on my clothes hamper & watching the birds. (no more privacy in our bathroom). Amazing how one little kitty can take over the entire house!!!
Can’t wait for your next video, Sue.
    Love, from Sheryle in Maine

  5. Ann says:

I was so afraid she was going to knock the paints off the table!

  6. This was fun to watch! Very good job. Have you seen Maru the Japanese cat? I enjoy seeing this Japanese cat’s antics through his blog and youtube channel. It is super for a good laugh…I will try to post a link to Maru here but if it doesn’t work just google “Maru the cat” and it will come right up.

  7. Debbie Johnson says:

OH my GOODNESS! Love your sweet kitty!!
How wonderful that you can tape fun things in your life to share with us!!
Can’t wait for more mini-movies of your enchanting life.
    Love you Susan!!

  8. Karen P says:

Love seeing Girl Kitty “in action!” She sure let you know when she was done, though, didn’t she?! Kitties are like that….they know their own minds and don’t bother sharing it! Can’t wait to see more little videos (I love the ones you have on YouTube!) Thanks for doing that for all your girlfriends!

  9. Kimi says:

    Susan

You have a very nice kitty~girl…. What a sweetie! I love cats too! have one of my own have a little girl bellama. Nice to see you can video….

  10. queenmum says:

Fabulous! Isn’t it amazing how our feline friends love to cover our books/papers/work at hand with their furriness? When I am reading or doing school work our 13 year old Siamese, Winter, has to cover my things with her body and say, “Look at me! Now pay attention!”…but she never does that to my husband! It is worse when I am stitching; she sits on the arm of my chair and tries to get my thread or paws at the cloth….or pats and pats and pats my chest, while the dogs are waiting to touch noses with her. My latest counted cross sstitch piece has to be defurred before being finished!

  11. deezie says:

Okay that was just about as adorable as it gets 🙂
your kitty is just precious. Loved the video
    deezie

  12. Nina says:

Its a hard life Kitty! lol. She looked like she was having a rest from painting! Love it that you can now video too Susan, look forward to seeing more! xx

  13. Virginia says:

Tuxedo kitties are the best! I’ve got a rescued Maine Coon tuxedo, Matteo. A total clown. But oh, the long hair… With your white sofas, bedspreads, etc., how do you keep Girl Kitty from shedding all over everything? I could vacuum daily (which I DON’T), and it still wouldn’t be enough! We have an orange tabby as well. He actually sheds more 🙁

    • sbranch says:

She doesn’t shed that much, but I do say that I paint at least one kitty hair into every one of my paintings! I figure it makes them more valuable.

      • DarleneB says:

Susan, I like your way of thinking!! Girl Kitty is so sweet! Thanks for sharing her with us <3

  14. Mary Cunningham says:

Hi Susan…such a sweet kitty!!!!! Obviously the star of the video…oh the drama…lol..Keep posting her..she might need a treat for extra screen time ! Meow!

  15. Patricia Wehner says:

Love it!!!! Furry children are just the best!! Unconditional love.

    • sbranch says:

Oh it’s a little bit conditional…I must speak in that voice or she won’t roll over for me!

  16. Isn’t that just like kitty to sit on your work to get your attention! Mine loves to stick her paw into the printer when she hears it running to retrieve the piece of paper before it’s ejected. She’ll also knock things onto the floor from my desk so my little dog can having something new to play with!

    • sbranch says:

Love it. Mine likes to put her paw in her drinking water and shake it all over the table and the art I’m working on. Or sit on the art, that’s her other favorite. And yet we adore them. We are so well trained.

  17. Donna Szybowicz says:

Susan I would love to see you make a video of “Having tea with Susan”. It would almost be like a fire side chat.
Oh and the kitty is darling.

  18. Deborah says:

She is a cutie for sure….
I don’t know which of your books I read it in, but there is a little blurb that refers to a petty-pet on the bed making a home cozy. Every time my Cleo curls up in that little ball on my bed (which is frequent) it reminds me of your saying!

  19. Heidi says:

A drawing table is not complete without a kitty! When my big brown tortie, Lulu Belle plops down on top of my painting, I know that art time is over. 🙂

  20. Cheryl says:

I love your kitty! Mine (many) keep me on my toes at all times. You are right, we are SO well trained. Mine know just how to get me to feed them at the proper time, and how to get me to play. Silly humans. My dogs just look at us and almost roll their eyes. I agree with a pretty pet making things cozy. A cat on the bed, and a dog and cat in front of the hearth. Purr-fect!

    • Pat Mofjeld says:

Yes, it is a pretty picture but our two schnauzers said, “What’s with this “dog in front of the hearth” stuff! They love our bed, only they think “our” means their’s, too. When we had three schnauzers several years ago, one night after the light was turned off and goodnight’s said to all and all responded with audible sighs, my husband said, “Well, here we all are–just one big happy litter!” Yes, our pets certainly do a good job of training us, however, I always say they give us so much love and enjoyment that they deserve every bit of loving we give them back! 🙂

  21. laurie says:

very handsome kitty for sure,, looks like he or she? is wearing a tuxedo,, I just finished sewing two pair of baggy china grass (linen) slacks,, they don’t look qyuite as billowy as yourson the line,, my old ones are much more flowing,, these need wearing to make them softer,,I needed a smile after all that sewing,,

    • sbranch says:

With my pants, despite what they look like on the line, you should think “Bell bottoms.” She’s a Girl, and in case I would ever forget, I named her Girl Kitty.

  22. K. F. Ross says:

Ha ha!! Now I know how I must sound when I’m sweet talking my cats. Cats are so irresistable! I wanted to reach in there and tickle her chin! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  23. Country Gal says:

Such a pretty kitty ! I have video on my blog from way back. There are so many things you can video thats for sure , I did bird sounds in the early morn with the sunrise, just stuff around here at Our Country Cove ! Cant wait to see what you find to video tape ! Have a great day !

  24. Country Gal says:

Me again lol Our kitty’s name is Harley an orange and white cuite !

  25. Polly says:

You always make me smile!! I loved the Girl Kitty video and thank you for sharing the sweetness!

  26. Kat Fry says:

Girl Kitty looks so at home on y’all’s table. You can sure tell she has a great abundence of personality! We have 6 kittys here on Rose Creek Farm, each one with such different personalities! Along with 2 sweet dwarf nigerian goats, 4 amazing little dogs, 2 hilarious labs & a whole huge family of chickens! Hoping as time moves along to add horses, donkeys, more goats & cows! Our kittys, if they’re inside at the time (& in this unbelievable heat of 105!, they are all in! 🙂 ) love it when I fire up your Page! That little birdie flying and tweeterin’ it’s way across gets ’em every time! 🙂 Can hardly wait to see more movies! Lover some of the ideas, esp. havin’ tea. How about a trip on a Thursday evenin’ through the Farmer’s Market in SLO?
Have a good one! With Affection, Ever Kat

  27. Rosanne says:

Every evening, no matter what, my boy kitty and I must have our snuggle time. He requires that we nuzzle heads together and talk sweetly to each other. It is a real comfort, though possibly more to me than to him. Nice of your girl kitty to share her art table with you.

  28. Nellie says:

Oh, I loved, loved, loved the video! Such a precious kitty! We were away for a few days, and our 19-year old cat protested mightily on the way to the vet where we had to board him while we were gone. He protested mightily once more on the way back home when we went to pick him up this morning.:-) I kept telling him he was going on vacation, but he would have none of it. His favorite place, when he was younger and able to do more jumping, was in our laps, particularly if we were reading something.
Happy August 1! Stay cool! xoxo

    • Gert says:

Oh Nellie now I know where you’ve been, have missed hearing from you!
don’t you just love Susan’s. Kitty??
      Blessings
      Gert

  29. Sweet Mormor says:

Anything you film will be interesting! I loved the Kitty time – just to see where you “create” is a thrill! You have inspired me to keep the special vintage things my grandmother and mother left me – the old hutch with floral plates (one has hydrangeas!) and special family keepsakes. I just can’t give them up. I have a painted white plaster standing figurine (3 ft. tall) of a young child carrying a basket over her head. It belonged to my greatgrandma and I remember my grandmother filling the basket with her african violets. I wish you could see it! I hope I can give it an honorable home, too! Susan your writings and artwork just cheer me up so much! Thank you!

  30. Elaine Schwenker says:

I would love to see a tour of your house, your garden, Martha’s Vineyard, tips on how/when to visit Martha’s Vineyard economically. I have wanted to visit there a long time. Dying the San Antonio heat currently! Moved here for my job.Twelve years here and I hate it! Lived 25 years in St. Louis and loved it! Unemployed for 10 years unfortunately and married to an upstate NY’er who is a teacher. Love your blog!

    • Jane Ortyl says:

Elaine Schwenker — Didn’t you work for the phoneco in St. Louis? You used to buy baskets from me, right? I thought that name sounded familiar and when you said you used to live in St. Louis….2 + 2…I love Susan Branch, too and have many of her books and I just ordered her Nancy Luce print and her old Willards. I am retired and loving some sweet little grandkids. Good to hear from you…even if it was vicariously!

  31. Sue says:

It worked, thank you….I loved that your workspace looks like mine…with the exception of the cat….my Dexter used to sit with me..he was mostly black and white a tuxedo guy…..I miss him, so I enjoyed your video a lot.
    Thank you….xox

  32. Oh what a cute kitty, glad you learned this, just one more way we can enjoy all of your creative and beautifyl life. Thanks for all that you are and all that you give.
your blogs and wilards and website bring a smile to my face. Still waiting for my sweet peas to bloom like yours. from a californian that moved to ventura county sept 1999 and now lives in Santa Paula surrounded by lemons and avocados.

  33. joan says:

Ohhhh…..I could hear her rumbles. Love kitties!

  34. Barbara (WA) says:

I love Girl Kitty! Um, I sing to my kitty, Lily, things like “beautiful, beautiful, you are my beautiful.” Heh-heh… Videos of your yard or walking down that path to the beach would be fun.

  35. Jennie says:

    Hi Susan-

So glad to know I’m not the only one out there that ‘baby talks’ to the cats! Even Husband’s voice melts and changes with our fur-babies. They tolerate it. Attention is attention, so they say.

  36. Carol C says:

Love the adorable kitty! Our Callie used to knock spools of thread off the table or ironing board for the dog, Molly, to chase. After 14 years I still have some of those tooth-marked spools. We now have the two best dogs ever, Hattie and Ginger, from the animal shelter. They are both 13 yrs. We are goofy over them! Thanks for the pet pix!

  37. Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect!

    More… More… More… Please.

Oh I am brimming with ideas for your videos!

Seeing bits-and-pieces around your room, when talking to your lovely kitty-cat, show how you could take us on a tour of each of your rooms. You know… Enter room at doorway and turn to the right-and-go-around-the-room. Oh wouldn’t that be super spectacular, Everyone?!?

OK, I know. Sounds *stalker-ish* I suppose. -pout- I’m such a “set person,” and love, love, love layouts of houses, and where-someone-put-the-sofa and things like that. -sigh- I do get carried away. Sorrrrrrrrrrrrry….

10 lashes with a wet noodle, and I’ll go away now. -giggles-

    Gentle August hugs,
    “Auntie”

  38. Jessica says:

Such a sweetheart…and it’s nice to see that she helps you out while you’re working! 😉
    xo J~

  39. Jake says:

That is exactly the way I talk to my 8 month old son! To get him to sleep, when he’s really tired, all I have to do is hold him, rock him and say, “Sleepy baby”, over and over again.

As far as what to put on video, maybe some demos of how you paint/create, a recipe or two? Don’t make them too perfect, just show us how you create! Also, a tour of your house and neighborhood (MV and CA) would be great fun!

    Take care,

    Jake

  40. Susan Edwards says:

Love the kitty and your video … more, more more of the kitty 🙂

  41. Peg says:

I think that Girl Kitty will soon have her own blog! She has so much personality and just think of the stories that she could tell us. If not a blog of her own, perhaps she could occasionally be a guest blogger. She would be purrfect!

  42. Rachel says:

    She is very cute 🙂
I had to admit though… I was fascinated by the workspace I saw just a hint of.
There were the paints… which I then started wondering… what paints were they (you appeared to have multiple palettes), what were they part of (the new book maybe?)…. what were the notes….
See- you could do video tours (room/garden/workspace). Video recipes… virtual walks down the street of the island! The possibilities are endless 🙂

  43. Mary says:

LOVED the GirlKitty video!! I talk to my kitties (7) the same way!
I would love any videos you chose to post – especially of your lovely home!!!

  44. Gert says:

Susan … I just love kitty, I could just love her to death, how I miss having a cat!!

    Blessings
    Gert

  45. CindyK says:

I love your kitty talk! She obviously knew what you were saying to her! She’s very pretty!

  46. Cindy says:

Liking the fireside chat idea! Would love to go along with you on a scouting jaunt for antiques, down the path you took with Joe on “nature hikes”, around your yard in spring, summer, fall and winter, see your Art Bloopers (so our own won’t be so powerful), meet people whose businesses/lives inspire you…….oh, the list of video possibilities is endless!

  47. Barbara says:

I love your sweet kitty! I’ve been wanting to learn to make my own videos on Youtube but haven’t had the time …yet. You did a terrific job on yours though. Hope to see more of them. lol

    Hugs XX
    Barbara

  48. Donna says:

How precious! Isn’t purring the best sound in the world?? And those watercolors in the background sure looked fun!

  49. Joann says:

The ‘End’was the best part!!!! How adorable Susan!!!!! As always, you made me smile!!

  50. Terrie says:

Watching your video on my iPhone while curled up in bed with MY kitty, “Charlotte” ~ who became so fascinated by your voice that I had to play the video twice! She was simply mesmerized…perhaps you were her Mama in another life? Or is all kitty language universal?! Such a sweet moment ~ xoxo

  51. Sharon from Maine says:

Hi Susan, am so excited to see you can put videos on your blog. Now I’ll have even more to smile about when I visit! I work at home doing computer work, and I have to tell you that your wonderful blog does get me side tracked quite a bit! I, too, can see endless possibilities of things you can video for the blog, and a lot of them have already been mentioned. I like Jake’s ideas on letting us peek at your creativity/painting, etc., also watching you prepare a recipe, and I would love to see the back yard at night where you sit and relax and I’d love to see more of the house. Really anything you do for us you know we’d all appreciate. Thanks for putting some sunshine into our lives!

  52. Kay says:

We have a 14 week old tabby who my children (age 30 & 23!!) insisted should be called Mario – after ‘SuperMario’! My husband is just checking that there are no gaps under the garden-gate, etc. because we’re just about to take Mario out into the back garden for the first time. Our vet said it was okay to do this because Mario has had both of his necessary innoculations.
    Should be fun!

  53. SueBee says:

Too cute!! I just love kitty love…..
    Good job!

  54. Sallie says:

Love your guest spot at Madame Samm’s! I’m a new follower.

  55. evelyn says:

Cute kitty. You could film her every day, and I would watch. I have a siamese who loves to “help” me quilt, or read, or do laundry- you know, they adopt one person in a house. She adopted me.
I just read your post on Stash Manicure/Sew we Quilt. Thank you for sharing your story.

  56. manda says:

I had to have my nearly 14 year old kitty, Raven, put to sleep about 6 weeks ago 🙁 She was with me when I went through my divorce, when I got remarried, when my daughter died, and when we lost our home. I hadn’t realized just how much she was a part of me. My 1 year old kitty is lonely now and I’ve been thinking of getting another. Thanks for sharing your baby.

  57. Sharon says:

  71. Lisa says:

Loved your premiere film. Girl Kitty is sweet.

  72. Margie @ Lavender Cottage says:

I have always loved quilts and especially the fabric that makes quilts. Up to this time I have resisted the “pull” to come over to the quilt side. I am a very serious knitter and I also dabble in stain glass (using quilt patterns as my designs), decopage, and sewing. However, I have a girlfriend that make rag quilts and she has convinced me that I could call this sewing and therefore not get totally quilt crazy. Let’s face it – I love fabric, colors, textures…all of it. That’s half the fun. So we are going to do a rag quilt together. I’m totally looking forward to it. We have a Knitting Retreat coming up and there is a wonderful quilt shop in the tiny little town outside of the Hocking Hills where we are staying and I’m going to pick out my fabric there. Can’t wait!!

  73. donna says:

That is too cute! Your cat looks exactly like my Elsie! I love it

  74. Wendy Schreiber says:

Hahaha! You have proven that kitties, like kids and dogs, won’t perform on cue! Thanks Susan for an entertaining start to my morning.

  75. Candice says:

I, for one, love kitty baby talk and speak it fluently. Your beautiful little one reminds me of my Sadie Boy (he was a feral kitten who came to our house and was so beautiful, I thought he was a girl, hence the name. He wouldn’t let me near him for a long time. When we finally caught him, what a surprise to see he was a boy!) Love your blog and love your books. They make me very happy, especially when I’m having a hard day! Thanks, Susan.

  76. Jeannie M from NC says:

Don’t you just love the way kittys know we are just around to make them comfortable? Always in the middle of our papers, sewing, on the computer keyboard?

    xoxo

  77. veronica mackinnon says:

love your beautiful kitty!! I love cats; i have 2. I have a little girl that hangs with a wire that i found several yrs ago and it has this quote on it ” if there was a universal sound; it should be a cat purr. By the way; she is holding a cat. I just love that!! Veronica

  78. Marie Fluck says:

How fun, girl!! I’m just getting started on watching your Blog and it’s soooo cute! Hearing about all the things you do and make, are soooo inspiring and gets my day going. With my cup of tea and inspiration from you, Oh Boy, there goes my creative mind buzzing! Life is fun. Hugs, Marie Fluck
