Girls, look, it’s Cynthia’s Quilt!
Cynthia’s the lucky girl that won our quilt giveaway; look how cute it looks at her house! I love the route this quilt has taken — A couple of weeks ago I saw it in an antique store when we were driving across Wisconsin; the vintage fabric folded over a chair instantly formed the Finding Nemo seagull word on my lips, “Mine.” I brought it to California and started getting the idea that maybe it could be a giant thank you for all the lovely comments we’ve been receiving from you. So I hung it on the line and took pictures of it while we waited for the announcement that it was CINDY whose name was drawn; and then, off it went, winging back across country. And now, here it is, ensconced and happy, looking perfect in Cynthia’s guest room in Western New York, complete with Lucy Cat! Here’s what Cynthia wrote when she sent this photo:
Dear Susan, I received the quilt yesterday and wanted to send you a picture of it so you could see how perfect it looks in my guest room. The ‘guest’ you’re seeing is Lucy Cat . . . a former stray that found us 2 yrs ago by hiding her babies in our basement. She has no voice, but really doesn’t need one because we usually know just what she wants to say. It’s 74 degrees here in Western NY today, but soon it’ll be cold and I’ll be glad to be under the ‘Branched-Out love’ of this special quilt. Hope you enjoy the rest of your time in California, but I’m sure you’re clicking your heels together saying, “There’s no place like Home.” Thank you so much for all you do . . . and especially the beautiful quilt.
Couldn’t wait to send this to you! Looks to me like this quilt is clicking its heels together and saying, “There’s no place like home.” ♥
It does look wonderful there! Love the peacefulness of her guest room. That kitty is a lucky one to be allowed on the nice bed. Sigh….
Lovely home for the lovely quilt. This story ended just right!
I know, all it needs is “they lived happily ever after.”
Love the quilt & cute kitty <3 I am also curious about her window shades, I would love to know where it was purchased it. Congrats on winning the quilt 🙂
I’m also interested in her window shades…did she make them? Would love to know the details! She has quite a peaceful guest room, there – would love to replicate the shades – lovely!
That lovely quilt looks right at home in Cynthia’s charming room. Isn’t it cute how the fur babies always like to curl up and take a nap on whatever is new? Congrats to Cynthia!
Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
This couldn’t have been more perfect! What a darling room…I think that quilt knew exactly where to land! Best of everything cozy to you Cynthia.
xoxo,
Tawni
Yes, I’d have to say it looks like it belongs there, looks really nice! And Lucy Cat obviously likes it, too! 🙂
Love the picture you sent, Cynthia! So precious to see Lucy Cat enjoying it~ 🙂
OK, that picture is cosmically perfect, exactly as it was meant to be. It really is stunning how well it fits in her room. WOW! Congrats to Cindy and I agree with Susan…that quilt is saying: “There’s no place like home!” — big time. Enjoy!!! ~Beth
I agree – it looks like it was meant to be there. I’m so pleased that a person with a real “Susan Branch” sensibility gets to take care of this lovely quilt.
So sweet!
It simply was meant to be on that bed. It looks wonderful in that cute cozy setting. Lucky you Cynthia! Cat is perfect addition to any bed and cats know just were it’s comfy. Mine always finds my clean laundry :o)
Awwww! Lucky, lucky Cynthia!!!! (and Lucy cat too for finding new place to sleep).
How beautiful it looks in that lovely room – absolutely perfect!! And the sweet Lucy Cat is the over-the-top touch!!!
Susan, when I read this, “…the vintage fabric folded over a chair instantly formed the Finding Nemo seagull word on my lips, ‘Mine.’ ” I laughed so hard!!!!
🙂
Beautiful…it looks as though it has always been there! Perfect for Cynthia…& Lucy! xoxo
Lucy the cat seems very happy and it’s the perfect end to a wonderful contest. Cynthia deserved to win, you can tell by her writing and how she decorates her house that she is a lovely person just the kind of friend someone would want to have.
Congratulations Cynthia, that quilt found a wonderful home.
This quilt has found its perfect home! Love the photo and the story of Lucy- what a perfect ending! Congratulations again Cindy, and thank you again Susan for including us all.
Sweet, I think the quilt did find its way home. Thanks for sharing the rest of the story with us, Cynthia and Susan. The quilt looks like it has always been on that bed in that lovely room.
Oh my gosh the quilt looks like it was meant for that room! Just like out of a magazine! Oh and there could be no accessories better than “Lucky the cat” she fits perfect! Congratsulations once again to Cindy!
Blessings to all!
xoxo Gert
It looks like it was meant to be there. I’m so happy for her and Lucy! LOL!
Have a lovely day.
Beds with quilts absolutely have to have sleeping cats. I think it is sime kind of natural law.
Beautiful ! I love the softness of the room the photo is great. Have a wonderful day.
I like the color on the walls! The shelf over the bed with the old photos is nice too!
my thoughts exactly….any guest would feel welcome and love to spend time in that room!
Oh the quilt looks wonderful in her guest room and Lucy makes it perfect.
I agree with all of the above posts….a match made in heaven! What a pretty room 🙂 Thanks for sending the photo Cynthia, and thanks to you too, Susan, for sharing it here!
Home Sweet Home 🙂
This quilt found its most perfect home! How very lovely it looks. Susan, you are sweet for sharing this beautiful quilt, and Cynthia, I am glad it found its way to you. I love Lucy Cat, and her story. Cats have a way of “finding” us too, and we now have 4 cats – each with a story to tell. XO Helena
A “happily ever after” story is so soul refreshing and Cynthia with her heart full of love was the right person to win this quilt. The “Branched-Out Love” of this beautiful quilt will be remembered forever. Thank you Susan for sharing your picture. Judy C
How charming your guest room is Cynthia! This traveling quilt has found a very sweet home. I adore the old pictures too! Thanks for sharing.~
I am so excited about going to Remnants of the Past on Sunday – this will be my first time. Question – will your books be for sale there?
On Sunday from 12:30 to 2, yes they will!
How nice it that. I’m glad that the quilt found it’s home with Cynthia. Loved seeing the picture and reading your comments. Very thoughtful of you, Cynthia.
Cynthia, when is a good time for me to come visit???!
I love that!!!
Some things are just meant to be! I could crawl in that adorable bed and snuggle with Lucy Cat forever! Thanks to you both for so much fun sharing.

As Bridget Jones would say – “It’s Purrrrfect”!
Didn’t that turn out just right? That is a nice provenance for the quilt starting in 2011…and who knows where it had been before that! If quilts could talk! It is so pretty in Cynthia’s guest room…just the right color on the binding, etc. And, I loved the mystery block that Susan showed when it hung on the clothesline. Just lovely!
Me too, me too, to all of the above comments! Cynthia’s guest room does look like it was just waiting for THAT quilt—perfect!—and now I’m wondering too, where did it begin? Who made it, and where did it come from? Wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone recognized it from Susan’s pictures?? Many thanks to Susan AND Cynthia for sharing with all of us.
Enjoyed the picture! Serene beauty!
Oh, it does look so perfect on the bed and Cindy’s decor is so lovely!!! It was meant to be!! Can picture the soft snowflakes swirling outside as her guests will be cozy and warm under the darling quilt! Enjoying the blog so much, Sue and have a wonderful time at Judy’s show!!
Just got back from the show, WHAT an amazing job everyone did….its gorgeous … I’ll put up photos asap!
Yay!! Can’t wait to see!!
Oh Susan the perfect person received the lovely quilt! Cynthia’s guestroom is so lovely-the color is the perfect compliment to the quilt! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Cynthia passed her quilt on with the story of its journey? xoxo ♥
LOVE the whole story, every bit… Cynthia, how thoughtful of you to send a photo so quickly for Susan and all of us!
Couldn’t agree more – so glad that Cindy has a home for the quilt and for Lucy Cat too! Looks like a perfect fit. Thanks for sharing.
She has the perfect room and bed for that quilt. I am so glad that she won it.
How perfect! That looks like a magazine-worthy photo to me. I don’t know what was on the bed before but it couldn’t have been more perfect than the quilt. Lovely!
What a serene and peaceful room, as is evidenced by Lucy’s napping on the very special quilt. I’d say it’s found its happy home! Thanks, Cindy and Susan, for sharing this beautiful little vignette with us all. Paying it forward!
Lucy Cat…did you notice that if you simply add one letter, a ‘k’ to that, you have Lucky Cat? Cynthia and Lucy are two lucky folks! They get to share that wonderful quilt that you came across in Wisconsin and the cosmos had them in mind for, it just took your purchasing it for it to find its way to them. Karma, that’s what is it. 🙂 What a beautiful thought and a beautiful quilt! Thank you Susan for finding it and sharing its beauty here on your blog for all of us to see and dream of the possibility of owning. Congratulations Cynthia and Lucy on your new treasure! It truly does fit that room to a ‘T’. 😉
PS I am so excited…my husband and I will be traveling up to SLO to see you tomorrow at the ROTP fair!! I have my ‘Girlfriends’ book out ready to take with me for you to sign and my husband has his camera all set to take my pix with you!! I won’t sleep a wink tonight just anticipating tomorrow!! LOL YIPPPEE I feel like a little girl again looking forward to a long anticipated road trip, <>
We just got back from Day One of the event, it’s so beautiful I have no words for it…they did an amazing job and I took tons of photos! See you tomorrow!
When we lost the second of our sister kitties (they both died of old age), I wasn’t interested in another cat for awhile. But friends of ours had rescued a girl cat that was not working out well with their boys (they beat her up, poor thing).
As soon as hubby opened the door to the kitty carrier, I was smitten. There was standing the most beautiful Maine Coon kitty. She has now lived with us for two years and has completely taken over the house.
We recently returned from visiting Colonial Williamsburg with our daughter and her family. We were only gone for ten days but Victoria was in such a snit that she didn’t talk to us that night. Then she followed us everywhere in the house we went for at least a week. I don’t know which was worse. 🙂
LOL!
I love happy endings!!!
It would appear that the perfect spot was waiting for that quilt all along. I wish I knew Cindy. I might be a guest to enjoy that lovely room!:-)
oh that quilt looks so lovely in that room and of course Lucy looks puurrrrfect sleeping on that quilt, looks like she found a cozy, warm, new sleeping place for the winter. my cats send loving purrs to Lucy and to cindy and congratulations on winning the quilt. my cats have found their new sleeping spot now that i have brought out the quilts in our home, and next weekend here in Cave Junction, Oregon we have a quilting festival and a weekend long display of gorgeous and beautiful quilts all over town. wish you all could be here for the quilting festival and the quilt competition. 🙂
Would love to be there!
you would really love the quilt festival, and some fo the vintage quilts that get shown are just absolutely gorgeous, you would want to buy them all and take them home to love and enjoy. this is a small town and most of the ladies here are quilters, they quilt all winter long (nothing else to while you are snowed in) and come Fall they show off their artwork for everyone to enjoy. its a fun and wonderful weekend festival. then of course we could all head down to Grants Pass for the Fall festivals and the pumpkin cannon and the punkin chunkin contests. have a wonderful day and enjoy this beautiful Fall weather. 🙂
Pat, my dearest girlfriend in the whole world just bought a 33-acre farm in Cave Junction! I will have to tell her about the quilting festival coming up there, she loves quilts almost as much as me!! Thank you for sharing the info!
>>>hugs<<<
Gammi Rori you’re entirely welcome, its next weekend, tell her to look in the local paper, Illinois Valley news, for more details. where abouts did she buy the farm???? i’m on Caves Highway
Hi Susan
That was so sweet of Cynthia to send a picture of the quilts new home. I love that. Makes me feel all warm and cozy inside. What an adorable picture too of her little kitty stretched all out on it. What a fun post that was. Thanks so much. Your blog makes me very happy Susan, it makes my day
deezie
Thank you Deezie, love doing it!
The quilt found it’s perfect home! It looks lovely there in Cindy’s guest room. Lucy Cat knows a good thing when she sees it! She has excellent taste!
So glad you shared your photo Cindy!
I agree, there is no place like home!
♥Lee Ann
It couldn’t be more perfect!!! I wish I was napping under it with Lucy Cat right now!!!
Happy Fall Cyndi!
Amy Lynn in Virginia
Just beautiful. It went to the right home.
Perfect! The quilt has found a home…and it looks like it was made for that beautiful guest room (and Lucy Cat). Congrats to Cynthia! …and thank you Susan for making us ALL feel special 🙂
XOXO Jacqui
What a perfect fit! I’m so glad she won. I think now if I had won the quilt would not be being used that way and it would have been a waste of a win. No sense having things if you’re not going to enjoy them and someone else could! Hooray for Cindy!
Isn’t it funny how “things” ( or in this case, a lovely quilt) always find their way to the people who they were meant to be with? It looks beautiful in the guest room. Enjoy, Cynthia!
What a perfect home for that beautiful quilt, that room was just waiting for it! And the kitty cat says “finally”!
Thanks for sharing, Cindy.
Congrats to you Cynthia. The quilt looks great! I’m also here in Western NY, it is so exciting to know the quilt is here! I know that you will give it a perfect home.
Susan, you are a constant source of positive energy in my life. I want to say thank you for the inspiration you bring to my world!
xoxo so sweet!
I’ve always known you have magic energy around you, Sue. Some of that magic must have been at work in finding the quilt its new home, because it couldn’t have found a more perfect spot!
I feel peaceful just looking at that lovely bedroom!
I am so glad that you enjoyed my home state of WI Susan. I wish you could have drove up the east side along the lake, around Green Bay and then over to MN. It is amazing to me that a woman in western NY has a guest room that looks like mine. Iron beds, old dressers with scarves, home made quilts(or at least one that looks that way). Apples and pumpkins, for pies and soups. I LOVE autumn, maybe because I was born in it. How many of us will be knitting or embroidering or sewing this winter staying warm inside? Even though I live in VA now, I still do these things. Anyone for hot cider or hot chocolate???
The quilt found herself the perfect home and kitty.
Jody
It was just made for Cindy’s room. Couldn’t have found a better home.
I just wish we could have one big Girlfriend party! As wonderful as it was to get that magical quilt…I have to say…all these wonderful comments and the way ,you Susan, make everyone feel so special is absolutely the best part.In these times…that truely is MAGICAL!!! Thank-you from the bottom(and top) of my heart!!
Yes, but it does take two to tango — or more! Was fun, we have to do it again!
The traveling quilt stories have been so much fun! Cindy, I think that quilt chose you, it wanted to be in your beautiful room! I have to comment in this spot because I just got a lump in my throat and tears (and, honestly, not because of the “we have to do it again” teaser) but because of all the specialness you’ve brought to all of us dear Susan and girlfriends! Many thanks!
What a treasure Cynthia now owns…..how beautiful the quilt looks and what a blessing you are Susan for your endless generosity! I just finished reading a charming novel called, The Quilter’s Apprentice, by Jennifer Chiaverini. Now, I so much want to learn how to quilt one day, in the next chapter of my life. I would love to leave something homemade for the next generations to cozy up with. I’m sure every quilt has a story to tell, and I’m sure Cynthia’s quilt has just written a new story with your help Susan!
The quilt is lovely in it’s new home! Makes you want to take a breath and a sigh of relief that it’s where it was meant to be! Cindy, thank you for posting a pic, and your sweet Lucy Cat seems to have welcomed it as well! What a nice thing you did Susan! As a result of your quilt give-away, I bought my very first quilt in an antique shop today!!
Oh dear, you have just done it! Congratulations!
Cindy – I just love the color of your guest room. Beautiful room. . .We had an all black cat for 15 years – her name was Lucy. We called her Lucy Lucille! She loved quilts too! Thanks for sharing.
A perfect, happy ending for a quilt that was purchased with a wonderful purpose in mind. I love how Cynthia says she’ll be cozy under the quilt of “Branched out love.’. Perfect! xoxo…kp
What a great pic. Lucy Cat looks like she’s been sleeping on it for years instead of a few days. That quilt was a great find, it’s beautiful.
I so agree with so many others, the perfect person to own and love the quilt! What a lovely room and an even more lovely person. What a delight!
A perfect setting indeed for this classic nine patch quilt…and kitty sure didn’t take long to make it her favorite resting spot!
That is a very well traveled quilt too – think of all the stories it could tell.
Beautiful! I totally agree, that quilt could belong NOWHERE else!! Thanks for sharing the pic, Cynthia!
This looks perfect in this sweet little room and as for the kitty…..well, it looks like she’s enjoying its pleasures as well. The energy that is within a quilt is enormous. Hours and hours of time went into its making and now….it will emit loving energy inside your home…..Congratulations to Cynthia and congratulations to Lucille, too!!! And thank you to Susan for finding the quilt and being so kind to have this contest….we’re all blessed to know one another!
xo

Wow! That quilt was just made for that room. I think quilts add a warmth and character to a room. They are one of my favorite things, along with whiskers on Kittens! I just know if all of us met we’d be best friends forever! I was just reading Girlfriends book last night. Another of my favorites!
Cindy, thanks for sharing the photo! It made me so happy for you and the quilt.:)
Absolute perfection!
Cynthia: The quilt has found the perfect home. That’s exactly what I planned to do if I had won it. It really speaks “Welcome”!! Well done!!! Susan: the
Dear Susan & Cynthia,
Time for me to confess. I just read this blog….congratulations again, Cynthia! All along I was hoping that I would have that quilt & I pouted a bit when I didn’t win. However, I must say…..it went to the right girl! That bedroom is perfect & so is that kitty! Enjoy the quilt!!!!!!!!!
It looks great on that bed Cynthia!!! Cats always know the softest and warmest place to sleep in the house! Thanks for sharing the picture!!
Cynthia,
What a sweet room……I could take a snooze right now. The kitty completes the quilt.
Congratulations again Cynthia! Looks like it was meant to be 🙂 I got a little teary when I saw the picture with the black kitty, Lucy Cat. Looks like my little guy , Kosmo who passed 3 weeks ago. I love that she is enjoying it 🙂 xx
So sorry Jolene!
I was a little sad when the beautiful quilt wasn’t going to make a home here with my children and I……that was until I saw the picture of it in the guest bedroom. Not only a beautiful addition, but it completes the room. It makes you want to be a guest there. The beautiful room makes you feel like you would be such a welcomed guest, experiencing such a cozy, warm, peaceful vacation there doesn’t it?
Congratulations to Cynthia! and Thank you, Susan for the delicious contest!
love the Lucy story 🙂 <3
