A SURPRISE

I promised you “a surprise” in my last post (about a hundred years ago, oh my goodness, I’m so late)! MUSICA (nice old Frank)🎶 I don’t usually start things off with a photo of me, but I had to make an exception to add oomph to my explanation for why I’ve been away so long! In the photo, I’m dressed and on my way to give a talk at Island Writes, but you may notice something not quite right.

Yeah, why is she wearing that black glove? What an odd-looking glove. Hey, that’s not a glove! No. It. Is. Not. It is a (stupid) cast for a broken wrist. A broken right wrist. The hand that does everything. So anyway, I broke it a little over a month ago while packing up things for the yard sale. Tripped over bags, hand-to-floor, caught myself, the end. Which also ended the infamous yard sale for this year. Ended almost everything, because I had no idea what all this hand did until I lost it. Besides typing, writing, and painting, it opens cat food cans, washes hair, signs books, holds a freaking fork, puts on earrings, uses scissors, deadheads roses, DRIVES, and chops onions. Hello. At first I couldn’t do any of it, I gave my brain a new kind of workout by practicing writing with my left hand, but one-by-one I’ve been getting things back. And Look Ma, I’m typing! I think I MIGHT get the brace off Sept. 14, my Doctor keeps little secrets to himself, I’ve learned, but I am hoping! It wasn’t a bad break, no surgery; I glowed like a 7 year old when he called me a “good patient.” It’s the little things in life. Yes, physical therapy will follow, but I’ve been doing exercises to keep my arms strong, so I hope normalcy returns soon. Thank goodness for Joe! He’s been taking such good care of me!

But I promised you surprises, and you’re going to get surprises! 🌸 Our Courage Charm has arrived . . . isn’t it wonderful? Gold with a streak of pink that goes all the way around. Pink, the color of nurturing, for yourself, and for others. The color of love.💝

It comes on its own little card . . . the charm is engraved with the words “Courage, Dear Heart . . .”💞

Thought you’d like to see my bracelet . . . I think I have them all so far!

And this? This is not for sale! This surprise of all four-seasons of my cups (which are all sold-out and no longer available anywhere on earth), is for the lucky person whose name gets drawn by Vanna in the next post! I told you I would have surprises! Just leave a comment, and you’ll be entered! It can be for you, or maybe you’ll want to take it apart and make four Christmas 🎄 presents out of it! Leave a comment!’Tis almost the season! Here comes

And this? This is for everyone! A brand new bookmark for all my Anglophile, Corgie-adoring, Queen-admiring girlfriends and the people they love! Just click HERE, print it on card-stock, have it laminated if you like . . . it makes a very sweet stocking stuffer or book-gift accountrement.(In case you’re new here, the bookmark is tucked into a copy of my book A Fine Romance, Falling in Love with the English Countryside.)

And what else? Oh yes, for everyone that preordered and waited so patiently, I’m thrilled to tell you the new cups are scheduled to arrive in California TOMORROW, on Thursday! And yes, I ordered extra so we would have some to last through Christmas, just in cases. The heart cup is another Courage item. The world is so wild these days, we need as much of this as we can get. And there’s another secret about this cup . . .💞

I didn’t design it! I designed a red cup with hearts on it which Joe thought was a little boring, and said, “Why don’t you make it look like champagne?” I said, naturally, “What are you talking about?” He tried to tell me, but I couldn’t picture it, was running out to lunch with girlfriends, and said, willy-nilly, over my shoulder, “Draw me a picture!” Because I know Joe is an artist even though he never does it. But I didn’t expect THIS. Champagne bubbles made into hearts. Of course I fell in love with it. My boy is a genius!

Very appropriately, this is Joe’s first cup ~ Champagne Hearts! He will very likely never do another one, not sure I can figure out how I tricked him into this one!🙃

I designed the bottom and the handle, so it was a group effort. From the Heart of our Home.💖 You’ll have them by the end of next week!👏

This one too! The Martha’s Vineyard cup, arriving at the Studio tomorrow, and in case you’re coming to the Island, it’s already available in the shop that carries my things here ~ which, by the way, has changed their name to Vineyard Arts Gallery, it’s still in the same place in downtown Vineyard Haven, and Robin still runs it. And one more by-the-way . . . another reason for you to leave a comment ➡️ Yes! I’ll be sending some lucky person their very own Martha’s Vineyard cup too! It’s an Autumn extravaganza!

This too! Leave a comment to win this Pumpkinhead cup! So far that makes three lucky winners and you only need to leave one comment to be entered for everything! Why you may ask? Because I can! (Writing now, from day after I published this post: Reading the lovely comments ~ can’t answer so many with bad hand, but reading 🤗, loving, sometimes tears, THANK YOU.💞 This is why. We are the world!) I detect a need for cheer and doing my best in this little world of ours, to make some of it for my Girlfriends! And, to make it more fun, the winner of this Pumpkinhead cup will also get a box of my Inspiration Notecards.

Hope you love them!

Jack also wanted me to let you know, in his own unique way (by draping himself on the thing I’m trying to photograph), that the 2020 calendars have arrived! If you preordered, you should have them!

Other good news, our teapot plates are back in stock! We’ve gotten lots of requests ~ sooo happy they’re finally here!

Great for holiday cookies, as a little serving dish and. . .

also looks great hanging on a wall!

And brand NEW, two night lights!

Blue dots on a scalloped porcelain shade!

And little flowers too!

You can read about them HERE.

I have soooo much more to tell you, but this is my first day back at typing and I’ve just been made a wee bit painfully aware, it’s time to stop! I’m only half done! Wah! Guess I will join Jack doing what we do best!

Still eating yummy whole food!

Have devolved to one-finger typing, left-hand ~ but one last thing, I’m reading this helpful book I think you might like.

Interesting book that reminds us of our lovely humanity . . .

We need to remember in our crazy world . . . also, from me to you💞, want to remind:

    Oh! Hello Susan!

First of all, I hope you recover soon.

Second!! I just discovered your art work this summer when I bought your Summer book and then I bought a christmas one and an autumn and I think I have a new addiction. Buying Susan Branch’s beautiful books.

Anyways, I would REEALLYY love one of those BEAUTIFUL cups as well hehe

  3. Jamie says:

SO sorry about your wrist. I hope it heals without issue. I’m sure you will appreciate your wrist more than ever once it’s healed. We don’t know what we will miss until we actually miss it.

  4. Sharon Byars says:

I have been out of the country and just read your post. OH, so sorry. By now, improvement hopefully. You have my complete and utter sympathy! 3 years ago, I fell in my kitchen (ridiculous) and broke my right arm in three places! It took a brace, PT and time but completely healed. I learned to put on eye makeup with my left hand. Yikes….and even hooking your bra is a major event. Life will be back to normal for you soon. Love your blog. My calendar is here and ready for the new year.

  5. Sarah F. says:

My other comment seems to have disappeared. I hope that you heal up well and I’m so sorry that this happened to you. I haven’t been on your blog in awhile and it has been very nice catching up on all things cozy. Have a wonderful day 😊

  6. Chris says:

So sorry to hear of your wrist! Casts are not nice!
    Get better soon

  7. Nancy Pullen says:

Oh gosh, so sorry you’ve been operating shorthanded! I broke an ankle last year and it’s amazing how often I needed my right foot. That whole walking thing is nothing to sneeze at, just getting on and off the toilet was an adventure. TMI. I’m truly just here to thank you. Thank you for being a light, a source of cheer, and a reminder that there is indeed so much love and goodness in the world. Some days the news is just too much for my heart to bear and I’ll find you, not just you but the thousands upon thousands (millions?) of kind hearts that follow you and love your art and words. That’s how I know I’m not alone. Thank you, thank you.

  8. Sandra says:

Thank you for always bringing a spot of good cheer:)

  9. Gretchen olszewski says:

  10. Lauri in VA says:

Hi Susan! I’m in love with those mugs 💚💙🧡♥️
I’m so sorry about your wrist. I severely bruised my anatomical snuffbox a few years back by falling. It’s amazing how helpless I became! Sending healing vibes your way 🙏.

  11. Jane Wegmann says:

So excited to see the new blotter calendar! We currently rip the pages off and tape them up in our kitchen where all can write what they are doing and where they are going. But this coming year, I’m getting 2 – one for the kitchen and another for my desk at school. They just make me happy. 🙂 Best of luck with your recovery!

  12. Ruth Holmes says:

Oh dear Susan I’m so sorry 😐 Prayers for quick healing for your right wrist. My husband is left handed and he cut his thumb off last October 23 it was amazing what he managed to do with his right hand Blessings Ruth

Hi Susan–4th time to try to post comment since 1st or 2nd of Sept—where could they be going? If they all show up eventually, you will be sick of hearing from me! Glad you are better and I am sure those kitty paws helped. Glad you have wonderful Joe to take care of you. Love to you both from Bev

  16. Judy in Ohio says:

Hi, Susan…I also sent you a note a couple of days ago…
and now it is nowhere to be found…Do you think it will

  18. Becky Bullington says:

Susan, you are such an inspiration to me….in so many ways! Love your books, blogs, cups….your everything. Keep on being Susan and adding charm and beauty to our lives.

  19. Jennie Lou says:

Dear Susan, I am sending thoughts your way for healing and learning to use your left hand while you need to. I “lost” my right hand for a time and learned, of all things, that my penmanship with my left hand was exemplary – if I wrote on the chalkboard, standing up! Braiding my hair was right out, of course, (though my darling tried his best to try, using a book on arts & crafts for diagrams) and using a tablespoon made eating peas less troublesome than a fork (or a knife with honey on it, despite the song!). Keep laughing. Get well soon. We love you all.

  20. Eulalia Mackowiak says:

I hope you heal happily and soon.

  21. Dawn Grisham says:

I love all your cups Susan! I hope your hand is on the mend. Your post totally convinced me having a yard sale is Not a good idea!
    ❤️ Dawn

  22. Dawn Grisham says:

    Hi Susan,
I’m not sure if my comment took, so I’ll leave another…Hope your hand is better soon. I love all your cups, and just like so many of your other readers, your blog makes me smile and brightens my day!
    ❤️ Dawn

  23. Linda Flathers says:

Wishes for a speedy recovery! Love your blog and words of wisdom!

(I thought I had sent a post, but was not sure that you received it.)

  24. Joan H. says:

Hi Susan, So sorry to hear about your fall ! Sounds like you are doing all the right things to get better tho. That’s good news 🙂 I’ve missed reading your blog which always brightens my ( and every one’s) day. And love your choice of Frank for music today ❤ It’s good medicine.
Take care & a quick recovery.
    Best, Joan H.

  27. Megan Z. says:

That stinks about your wrist but I’m glad it was not more serious. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

  28. Dianne Blauvelt says:

So sorry to read about your wrist! I know what an inconvenience it can be as I broke my right wrist some years ago horseback riding. I fell off the horse while crossing a shallow stream. I truly can commiserate with you! I hope it is almost better now. I just love the new night lights! They are so pretty and I definitely will be placing an order for my upcoming birthday. Just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery.
P.S. I just love my new “Champagne Hearts” mug!

  29. Joan Kovach says:

Susan, My need to “reply” is not about winning a treasure from you…but to let you know I am thinking about you and caring about your “mishap”…grateful that you are on the mend with your boys closeby (Joe & Jack)….love, hugs and always my prayers. xoxo

  30. Holly says:

Someday I’m going to write you a real letter to tell you how much you’ve inspired and encouraged me.

  31. Betty says:

Dear Susan, I don’t think my comment of several days ago came through.
Glad to know that your wrist is slowly improving. What a shock that must have been! Do take care and take your time. We can wait for your new book, which will be wonderful, I’m sure.
Happy Autumn as we are enjoying signs of Spring here in Melbourne.
    Betty ox

  32. Dede Martin says:

    Hi Susan,

Hope you are mending well! So difficult to be halted by injury when you are so busy. I was just looking back on your previous posts from May and June, and it just seems like yesterday you were posting about planting gardens and lightening bugs, and in a blink of an eye, it is time to harvest and start putting pumpkins out!
    Take care!

  36. Kathleen Hammersley says:

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Love, love, love your wonderful mugs and all that you create.

  39. Natalie says:

Love the work you are doing!

  40. Anneke says:

This is nourishment for the soul! The book made me smile too; my iPhone died on me last week and I’ve been thinking a lot about the role social media and technology should play in my life. I still love blogs (especially this one) for that reason, it’s a more relaxed pace than moet other platforms.

  41. Phyllis says:

Hope you heal quickly! Glad you are slowly getting back to normal. Best wishes!

  42. Nancy B. from Ct says:

Hi Susan, I love to read your blog. Thank you so much for having the surprise give a ways. You are so very nice and thoughtful. Best wishes for a speedy recovery on your wrist.

  43. Judy in Ohio says:

Dearest Sue ~ I have not written to you in a VERY long time.
There have been many, many reasons, most of them health-related
(I am sorry to say) but I am doing much better these days and
I wanted to say “Hi!” now just mostly because of the “contest”
(I knew Vanna would miss me!) and because I felt that you might
be more likely to see this at this time. 🙂
(I sent you a note the other day…a few days ago, really…but it got
    “lost” out in the web-world I guess…So I am re-sending this!) 🙂

I wanted to tell you that I am going to be purchasing one of your
beautiful “Courage” beads (thank you!!) for my beautiful sister …who
is such a blessing to me…and all around her!

I have not mentioned this before…but since I have been reading your
Twitters also for the past few months, I know that it will matter to you…
My sister’s youngest son (Ayden) goes to Margory Stoneman Douglas High
School. He is a Senior now, but at the time of the mass shooting he was
a sophomore. And located IN the school and ON the floor of the shooter,
hiding in a locked classroom with bullets flying past his head. And my
sister was in her car, right in front of the school…there waiting to pick
up my nephew…as she did then EVERY day. I am buying the charm for her.

Being my sister’s only sister now (our middle sister passed away of heart
problems eight years ago )…and you are a sister so I know you
and all of the Girlfriends will understand… we have talked about this
horrendous incident practically EVERY time we have talked these past
19 months since it happened. Hours and hours and HOURS. There are so many
details I could relate to you about what I have learned about people in general…
and my sister specifically. There are so many aspects that affect people on an
incredible number of levels! And that is why I am buying her the charm.

She has been through so much! Their whole family has been…But she is just a
little slower than her husband and sons in the “moving along” department.
It is all so incredibly and profoundly hard to process. All of the “what if’s”
and all…Honestly, it is a wonder that she hasn’t just curled up in a fetal
position somewhere, never to be heard from again. She is an amazing person…
the way she has handled all of this…and I hate to say it but it is not over YET.
But this little beautiful charm will help at least a little…and that is why I am
    buying it for her.

In the spring of next year (2020), her son will graduate from Margory Stoneman Douglas
High School # HomeoftheEagles # MSDStrong…and then maybe
she will finally have a bit of peace. And hopefully by then our government can be strong
enough too, to actually come up with some real solutions so that our country’s children
can go to school and know they will be safe there.

Thank you so much, dear lady…for the COURAGE charm!…and for all you do…
for all you are not afraid to say…and for being a bright light in the darkness.

Wishing you continued courage! Forever and always!!

    #NeverAgain.

Your beautiful words bring it all right home, home to where we all live, the safety of our everyday lives, where hardly anything happens, until it does. Yes, I follow those brave survivors of that shooting at Margory Stoneman Dougland on Twitter and love them for their sincerity, and for reminding me how beautiful innocent idealism is and How I wish they were in charge of the world! I tell them too, and thank them. I hope they never stop. Thank you Soooo much for writing Judy ~ I’m happy to hear your health is better. Love and courage to your sister, everyone to their own pace, hugs and more hugs.xoxoxo

      • Judy in Ohio says:

        Thanks so much, dear friend!

        Thanks again!!

Heal!! Susan, You just never know how much you need your rt. arm, lungs, etc. til there is a malfunction!!!! It takes a household -Sue, Joe Jack- to make everything work. Wishing you a very speedy recovery.

There is a program to translate your spoken word into print on the computer. My brother uses it. So you might look into to it . . .. . It could help you and others in similar situations a ton.

I am always so happy to read your blog when all the world seems nutty. I too try to plant happiness around me to counteract the nonsense of some others.
You can paint a rock and leave it in a playground or anywhere and another person has a wonderful day. There is even a website called rockon.com where you can trace where your rock art went:)) Just another little way to help out around here. Much love from Peggy in Madison

  56. Pat Metzer says:

Can’t tell you how much enjoyment I have had from all of your thoughts, writings, travels and just you in general. I drink every day from my “Mother” cup. Just can’t wait until your next book comes out. Guess you have had a real setback, but looking forward to it’s completion when you are able. Learned from “spit test” that I am 25% Scot, 75% English so no wonder I am such an Anglophile. Knew that anyway, but fun to have it confirmed. Please get well soon and know that all of us are wishing you the best.

  58. Jay says:

Thank you for the opportunity to take part in the giveaway.

  59. Cathy Phelps says:

I recently discovered you and all of your amazing work. I can’t get enough! I read until my eyeballs practically fall out. I live near Bowling Green Ky. and the one large bookstore there doesn’t carry any of yours books. I ordered them online. Love the books I’ve read so far, can’t wait to read more. Hoping you recover quickly and write more wonderful books.

  60. Patricia Paul says:

Take care of yourself!! I know first “hand” how hard it is to lose the use of your dominant hand!! (fortunately, I only had to deal with it for a few months). LOVED your book A Fine Romance! Took me back to the trip I made to England and Scotland with my Mom 25 years ago! The book reintroduced me to your writing and art work! I look forward to more!!

  61. Susan,
I love your cups. I have given them as gifts and everytime I go to buy one, as a gift, I have had to buy one for myself. It’s a necessity. I’m not sure if I won four of them I could bear to give them away. But, then again, Christmas is coming.

Hope your wrist is healing well and quickly. We miss your frequent missives.

    Cheryl

  62. Deena Benson says:

I love your posts! I know what you’re going through with your wrist…I broke my left wrist a little over a year ago but had to have surgery. It is definitely so hard to do things with only one hand. You just don’t know how much you need both hands to do things until you can’t.

  63. Victoria Pray says:

So happy your hand is healing Susan. My mom introduced us to you as kids and we just always loved your books and the beautiful way you write and incorporate it..such an art. 🙂 We can’t wait to get started on many of the autumn recipes. Love your pictures of the vineyard as well.

  64. Nancy Watkins says:

Hi Susan, Fairy Tale Girl who now lives on the Isle of Dreams! One more bump on this journey of life will not bring you down but wish you didn’t have to go through it. Your hours of work bring hours of enjoyment to so many. Thank you for helping to fill our sails for a little smoother ride!

As I’m reading this on September 14, I’m hopeful that you did get your brace off and that you’ll be “back to normal” soon. Going to go print my corgi bookmark now, and appreciate the sounds of silence — corgi snoring, daughter turning pages, breeze blowing . . .

    • sbranch says:

I’m really getting better and itching to get Vanna in here and pull us some winners! Hand gets tired, but I exercise it as I’m supposed to! Corgi snoring lovely sound of silence. xoxo

So sorry to hear about your wrist. The good news is that your healthy eating will be a great assist to your healing. Keep up the good work.

  74. So sorry about the temporary loss of your right hand (“I know I had a right hand — it was right here at the end of my arm! Where could it have gotten to?! Yoo-hoo, here handy handy handy handy. Come to Mama!”). I’m sure getting the cast off will be the cat’s meow.

And wowza, what a giveaway! You really are a generous soul.

Hats off to Joe for his creativity, and hats off to Jack for his ability to sleep anywhere. Good men, Susan, good men.

  75. Sandra Hill says:

Loving all the goodies you create! 🙂 Cheers to all of us, near and far! Glad to read you are feeling better and speeding towards recovery!

  76. Dear Susan, I do hope you’re healing well. All of your books are so lovely, such good and faithful companions, but I’ve been re-reading Martha’s Vineyard, Isle of Dreams, for the umpteenth time, and it’s my favorite – about the loss of what was familiar and beloved, and finding your true self in a beautiful place of your own. I have my own sweet place, Foxhollow at Maple Lane, with an old Cape and an acre. I love it. Living alone does give perspective, provides the space for us to discover what we REALLY want in life. SO inspiring! Thank you!

Thank you Robin! Yes, a wee bit of rite of passage. As it turns out! xoxo

      • It is indeed. For the first time, at 60! I felt and feel like a complete person, with a fulfilling, creative and interesting life. I guess it takes some of us (me) longer but I think that’s true for women of our generation.

And oh! A movie recommendation, as I’ve been at home recuperating ever so slowly – the lovely HBO film “Warm Springs” about FDR and Warm Springs in Georgia, with the wonderful Kenneth Branagh as FDR, Cynthia Nixon excellent as Eleanor, plus Jane Alexander and Kathy Bates. Heart-warming and old-fashioned. xoxo!

  77. Lani says:

All the best to you dear lady. Your positive energy is your biggest asset to your healing. Take care and be well. I enjoy your Twitter sharing. I get a bit too upset about the direction that man and his GOP pals are Taking our country. Your bright comments help me cope. It’s comforting knowing someone shares your pain.
    Fondly,
    Lani

  78. Sheldon Church says:

I love this blog. It makes me so happy!

  79. Ruth Barclay says:

Dear Susan , Reading your lovely and inspirational blogs is always a mini vacation for me. I wish and pray for a very quick and successful recovery for your temporary ‘disability’ which must be a bit frustrating for you. But I’m sure you’ll be back in full swing again soon. Hugs.

  80. Jill says:

I love your blotter. I can’t throw away the old pages. I keep thinking I might find a way to use the drawings

  81. Susan Barry says:

Glad your wrist is mending! Love your mugs! 🙂

  82. Alice says:

Susan, I broke my arm two years ago and found out what you did–who knew it took two hands to wash my hair and the rest of me? And so many other things. Also, I am left-handed and had to try to write with the right one, still laughing at the pitiful attempts when I find one here and there. Thank God for healing bones, and that season passed. (Other seasons have come and gone, too; no one is problem-free, as we all know.) Anyhow, hope you are getting well and doing okay in physical therapy. Hang in there, praying for your full recovery.

  83. Wendy says:

I love all your beautiful cups but most of all I love your paintings which accompany your blog!

  84. Sharon, Oregon says:

What a beautiful blog done with a broken wrist!! It must be hard, being such a vibrant, busy person, to get things done with a broken wrist. Did you get the cast off Sept 14th? 4500 comments: wow! You have a lot of people that care about you and love reading your blog. Lovely items and photos. All of the mugs are fantastic. I do like the Champagne Hearts idea of Joe’s. Lovely, just lovely. Good luck with the wrist, Susan. I hope that it heals up well and you can get back to normal.

  90. Elayne says:

So glad your wrist is feeling better! Thank you for all you do and your wonderful talents!

  91. Georgie says:

Oh Susan! How did I miss this blog post! So happy to read of your progress.

Those sweet cups would look wonderful in our kitchen!

Waving from NJ! We had the ceiling fall in our guest bedroom early in the wee morning hours. Our plans for today now revolve around this unexpected event.

    Sending love for continued healing.
    XO
    Georgie

  92. Trisha says:

Wishing you a speedy recovery. The best season is coming. Autumn has a beauty that is unsurpassed for me. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas shine with the best memories for most families. And I know how you love to decorate!! I will be very interested in seeing what recipes you post for the holidays. I always stick to the wonderful, traditional ones. Can’t say they are healthy. But if eaten in moderation they are not scary and soooo full of memories:-) XOXO Trisha

  93. Pam says:

    Hi~
Happy to see that you are recovering and that Joe is not only helpful but clever!

  94. Victoria P says:

Massive fan of yours just like my mother! Hope your wrist heals up nicely. Be sure to rest and take it easy. I’ve got to go get the autumn book out. Love, love, loooove the mugs! Having a happy and joyful mug really starts the day on the right foot!

  95. Cis Lewis says:

I, too, broke my wrist a few years ago….by falling off a treadmill….in a gym, surrounded by open-mouthed, shocked, non-klutzy people who couldn’t believe I fell! Sending good healing vibes to you, Susan, and a sincere thank you for all the smiles, kindness and beauty you send out into our world.

    • sbranch says:

Oh nooooo! Horrible and a teeny bit funny, because of how horrible it must have been! I like to do my most ridiculous things alone. As I’m sure you would prefer. Glad it’s just a memory ~ and thank you!😘

  96. Cyndi in NC says:

Great to hear you’re up ans running again! Just take it easy until you’ve got you hand strength again. Been there after a car accident and it just takes time. Cheers.

  97. Oh dear! I certainly hope when this comment reaches you that the brace is off and your wrist strength returns! Take care. It’s those silly accidents that are the most frustrating. The first time I threw my back out, all I did was put down two grocery bags and couldn’t not stand back up. It would be fine if I’d hurt it, say, rescuing a school bus full of children from a charging rhino. Ah well. Courage, indeed, Dear Heart ❤ ~ Jen

  98. Judy Spuler says:

Dear Susan, I can’t believe I’ve “found” you again. Even though, I have to admit, I wasn’t looking. Sorry. This summer I’ve been going through contents of boxes and boxes and boxes dating back almost 25 years. It has been a challenging journey that I avoided too long. Every now and then I have come across treasures that have made me weep with remembrance and gratitude. Amongst the treasures are some stickers you created — still in tact and ready to be applied to my journals and cards if I ever can ever actually “part” with them. I had forgotten the joy they brought all those years ago. And especially now. Evidently no longer available. In a card from my younger sister, perhaps 2 decades ago, I found a very small blank card (perhaps meant to be a gift card) with your designs all around but no artist’s name on the back. I recognized it and finally realized it was created by you. I just want to say thank you. For bringing light and beauty and fun and love all those years ago, and now again for me so unexpectedly. You are a rare gift. More rare and needed today than 20 plus or minus years ago. Please get well and go on spreading joy for a long time.

  99. Andrea Nunley says:

Hope you are healing well ! Take care.

  100. Suzette Shoulders says:

Dear Susan, I am so sorry you broke your wrist! But glad it was a “simple’ fracture, and I am sure you will be in great shape soon! Happily, Joe cooks, too! When I broke my ankle, my darling husband ( who can ONLY manage a 4 item shopping list!) bought us both TV dinners, and I discovered ‘Amy’s Kitchen’… pretty good, they were! I have tried to be more mindful when doing two things at once, like walking and talking… yikes! The older I get , the harder I fall, LOL! Take care, and keep on healing! Suzette in Bend, Oregon
