I can’t believe it, here we are, at the end of August already and all I can say is, tick-tock, how did we get here so soon, and OH GOODIE!
MUSICA!
I have been suffering from this hot and sticky August that seemingly will not end . . . I’m ready to move on! Love the quote, “There are only two seasons, Autumn, and waiting for Autumn!” Fits me to a T, especially right this moment. And then, a couple of days ago, at the top of my suffering, I accidentally did a happy thing . . .
I opened up my Autumn Book, just to take a look. As I turned the pages a thrill went through my heart, and I realized, it’s almost here! My favorite time of year!

So I went and got some sunflowers . . . and cut marigolds from the garden for little vases . . . because

It perked me right up! Changed everything! Sweaters are coming! Leaves! Crisp air! Corn Pudding! Makes me almost want to go on a diet. That’s how perky I feel! (“Almost” being the operative word, I am not done with toast and peanut butter yet!)
I know, not everyone looks forward to cold weather, but I love having a reason to heat up the oven and bake something! And in my
glee, I planned the rest of the year: first a long breezy, colorful autumn (and can we
have a normal Halloween? Why not? Everyone wears masks anyway!👺 That will cheer everyone up! The kids will be thrilled!), leaves blowing through the woods on our walk, crisp salt air off the water, quilts airing in the breeze, more cozy covers on the bed, church bells ringing and boat whistles blowing, and then a short, cozy, snow-white winter around the fireplace, with a new Christmas book and a new puzzle to do during the winter, which will be SO short I’ll have to hurry! And then, an early burst of the most flowery spring ever ~ in a brand new world filled with fresh beginnings! Covid gone, children going to school, everyone back to work, Easter egg hunts! Kitchen table Tea with girlfriends, with new remembrance, respect, and deep gratitude …

While all these nice thoughts were brewing in my head … My cups arrived on the kitchen porch!!! I’ve been waiting! I hope you got yours too … if not, you should soon. We had a little slow-down at the PO, so if you ordered one, and don’t have it yet, it’s definitely on the way!❤️
And then there’s this happy thing. Joe is outside building us a 12′ picnic table, in two pieces, one 8′ and one 4′ … so we can have a party of six for dinner, a couple at each end, and one in the middle for starry September evenings! Just planned our first one for this Friday Night!👏 I’m cooking! Joe’s grilling! Keeping our sunny-sides up.💖

Now what’s this you may be asking. It’s a surprise! Another unexpected book! It will be called Distilled Genius, Wisdom of the World, Words to Live By, (or something like that) and contain my forty-year collection of brilliant quotes from the ages, gathered into categories as I have them here in my Studio, such as Courage, Tea, Gratitude, Gardens, Happiness, all onto pages like these . . .
. . . whole genius sections about Love, Dreams, Time, Girlfriends, Cooking, Creativity, Earth, Fairy Tales, Beauty . . . so on and so on… Look how cute it’s going to be! I have about 40 pages done so far. I’ve been asked to do this for years, and I do think it needs to be here for the future! Everything that has ever mattered has been beautifully said by someone whose attestment has teeth,
from Marcus Aurelius, to Mark Twain, Black Elk, Rumi, Langston Hughes, C.S. Eliot, Churchill, and the Bible, to Louisa May Alcott, Toni Morrison, Shakespeare, Dickens, Anne Frank, Lincoln, and so many more … plus, plenty from that prolific genius, Anon… and lots from people with less familiar names, whose smart, funny, wise, and touching words inspire curiosity, and open whole new worlds that lie beyond them. I’ve always read quote books like novels! I hope this book will be finished for that wonderful spring I’ve been thinking about. More hope in a time of need. May have to be two books, might even be three, still waiting to see! I know, I have next year’s calendars to do, and my wonderful book, Enchanted to work on, and lots of blog posts and Zoom events and dinners to cook, and Joe and Jack, and the House of Creativity, and all those other ideas, but here I am, Girls, 73, and there is still so very much I want to do!

Some of you will remember that I did my very first Zoom Webinar last week. First I had to learn how to do a Power Point slide show. That about killed me. But at the last moment, it sunk in, and I found out just how easy it is to do. All about pushing the right buttons. Then I had to write about the photos, ⬆️ that’s me reading over old diaries to make sure I had the details right ~ it was a Calgon Zoom Party, took us far, far away, back to the English Countryside!
And THEN, there was a week of daily Zoom practice with the encouragement of Andrea, the wonderful person who had extended the invitation for me to speak. We got to know each other pretty well! She was very patient!
We ended up doing the same program two days in a row, because the Zoom Room had gotten so full. I knew lots of you were there, because I got pictures! This one above is from our Girlfriend Mary Brehm! She has sweet peas!
This one came from Karen England and her Kitty . . . so fun to be in everyone’s houses!

This one is from Trahlyta! I got so many wonderful photos from you guys! Thank you! The program lasted about an hour and 15 minutes. I know some of you wanted to join in, but could not ~ so, as promised, here’s a link so you can see it yourself on Youtube. In the beginning, it’s just me staring at the screen, watching the names of attendees scrolling by really fast … such a fun thing to see, so many I recognized. I wish that part showed so you could read them too … but instead you just have to watch me staring at them and saying them out loud. Might want to skip that part!
IN THE MEANTIME. Guess what? There are going to be more Zoom parties. In the column on the right of this Blog
you’ll see EVENTS. Here is the Link for it, but you can get there yourself when you need to check back for new event dates. I’m about to add more, so watch for them so you can register and receive an invitation to join.
The next one will be a Sunday Afternoon Christmas Tea Party
presented by the wonderful people at Titcombs Bookshop, just over the water on the Cape, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm EST on September 20 ~ BYO Tea because you’re all invited to my first virtual book event for my new Home for Christmas book! Here’s where you can sign up! If you don’t know how to do Zoom, you can Google “Youtube how to use Zoom” and they will show you. It’s just a matter of which buttons to push ~ it’s easy. When you sign up, they will send you an invitation to our zoom party … which will have a link for you to click on the day of the event. Put it on your calendar!

One flower stands out on Martha’s Vineyard, it’s the hydrangea… they are everywhere! Drive up and down the streets and that’s what you see. We moved these from another part of the garden last year, and I’m so glad we did. Aren’t they romantic? They’re just starting to turn pale pink, something they do in the fall . . . and now we can see them from the kitchen windows from this dear old house I have loved for so long.💞

We’re still going on our walk everyday … joy of life.

It’s been very warm . . . sometimes we have to cut our way through the air, it’s so thick . . . but it’s nothing like what our California Girlfriends are suffering. We pray for them every day. You too, Girlfriends in Iowa, we know about that crazy storm that shot through your state. And now, 11′ storm surges in Louisiana.😢 🙏 2020 is some kind of year!⚡️ We were spared the other night, we were told to hunker down and expect one-inch hail ~ it got very dark out there, but it never came! Thank God. Deep breath, ahhhhhh. Remembering how much we have to be grateful for.

The woods are still green as Sherwood Forest, but every so often there are tell-tale signs that change is on the way with bright spots like this one!
And now, look, I had to show you this sweet letter I got from someone writing about our DamPanic, Go. Be. Love. postcards! Made my day!
Dear Susan, Several weeks ago I purchased a package of your “Go. Be. Love” postcards and sent them to a number of friends. Oh, my gosh! I send lots of cards and notes and have never received so many oohs and ahhs over a card I sent. My dear friends loved the postcard and just showered me with compliments and thanks. You deserve all of the credit. You created the perfect greeting to send during this pandemic and I am so grateful to be a longtime fan and follower and saw them in your online shop. Stay safe and well. Sincerely, Marge
Just in cases YOU might need to be “showered with compliments and thanks” I thought I would share this!
And the New Pumpkin Go. Be. Love. postcards came in too …

I had this pumpkin postcard printed in honor of what our Great Grandmothers did for us only a hundred years ago this August 18th!💖 Joe carved that Halloween pumpkin a few years back for our front window ~ I thought it would be a good way to celebrate those brave and determined women, mothers, sisters, grandmothers, and best friends (and men too), who put themselves out there in a very big way for US! We should never take it for granted … they went through some very difficult and dangerous years, to make it happen!👏

Yes, Jack . . .
And one more thing . . .
In case YOU too need something sweet and homey to inspire you with my wind-in-the-trees formula for cozy, Kellee just put my Autumn book up at 25% off until midnight on Labor Day! You probably already have it, but maybe not, and maybe you need a gift for a friend!🍂
And for you?
Time for a good Giveaway, don’t you agree? I think this is the perfect place to thank all of you for sticking with us through thick and
thin and dampanic too, for me and for Kellee and Sheri, your kindness has meant the world to us over the years, going to work is a gift because of you, but especially these last months, you have no idea what a positive force you are. All you have to do is read the comments to know what lovely kindred spirits visit here. No matter where in the world you are, we have so much in common, I’m very proud of us.💖 Thank you.

So we’ll start here . . . 3 cups, 3 winners! As you know, these cups are mostly sold out now, but we saved these to surprise someone(s) ~ I hope one of them is YOU! Just leave a comment right at the bottom of this post, click on the teeny grey letters that say “comments,” leave a few words, and you will be automatically entered for the drawing . . . I’ll let you know who won in the next post, then I’ll send an email to the winners, who can write back with their mailing address, and voila, your cups will be on the way, either for you to keep, or perhaps to give away as a Christmas gift! And more . . .

Shipping from the printer is still on schedule for August 26th, which means we will probably have to wait until the day after Labor Day, September 8 to get HOME FOR CHRISTMAS delivered to the Studio! So, 3 more winners in this next drawing ~ and for each, a signed copy of my new book, hot off the press! If you’ve already ordered it, then Boom! You’ll have another one to giveaway! A little bit of “pay it forward.”💞
Leave a comment as suggested above … and now we will have six winners! Makes my day!
Okay dear ones, that’s all she wrote for today! I hope you’re giving yourself those hugs I talked about at the Zoom Party. They do help, and you do deserve them.❤️ Petty-pet hugs are good too! XOXOXO

Susan, you and your blog are the biggest hugs. Watching your webinar took our minds off of what’s going on in the world. Thank you! I can’t wait for your quote book as I am a quote nerd. When I was working and sending out daily emails, I would include an imspirational quote. Always a hit. I’m off to read your Autumn book, it’s almost that time of year. So welcomed after all this sticky humidity.
Hugs to you.
Paula
I love your books and art. I just received your book on GRATITUDE from my friend and I loved it. I used to go to your shop in Arroyo Grande and was so sad when it closed. However I discovered your store and have gotten some things. Keep on keeping on . Much love Hope
Thanks for another delightful blog post.would be fun to have another copy of your Christmas. Book to give away. Am so looking forward to your Wors of Wisdom book coming in the spring. Have long been a collector of sayings, quotes and words of wisdom. Have a great Fall. Be safe.
Autumn Joy! I feel exactly the same way! I also got my Autumn book (of yours) out last week just to bask in it…the colors! The scents! The feeling! The tastes!
Can’t wait!

Oh my GOSH, Susan! This post!
I love all the new things ESPECIALLY the quote book because like you I LOVE quote books…..this just makes me SO HAPPY. 🙂 And goodness knows we need some happiness right now! 🙂
Love your artwork. Opening one of your books is pure joy.
Hi, Susan! Jennie Lou here, from the small house on the hill in Milton, Washington. I can’t wait to go watch the youTube on How to Zoom, as I am trying to get our family together to greet my eldest niece’s soon-to-be-here twin boys! They are due, we think, about the end of November, and what a great Thanksgiving that will be! I am not the most technically adept person, and by nature I am more of an ‘old-fashioned’ than a ‘new-fashioned’ girl, but I gave up IGNORANCE for Lent back in the 90’s and chose to embrace what I cannot ignore. What a wonder some things are (and what a horror are others, but then we don’t have to embrace EVERYTHING, do we?) and I am ready to see loved ones at home, maskless, happy and welcome the next generation in a way truly unique to them! Hoping to ‘ZOOM’ you and Joe and the cat folk and the girlfriends someday (because there won’t be any reason NOT to!) Happy end of summer vacation to you, let’s help make the start of this school year a big success for everybody!
The new blog is here!!!! Proud of you for doing the zoom thing, I’m not that brave yet! Autumn will be here soon and I’m already thinking of flannel and sweaters. I reminded my daughter just the other day that it is time to pull out our Susan Branch Autumn books. Susan , thanks for everything you do to inspire us especially during this difficult year. Love the new” vote” postcards. You are correct that we need to remember and appreciate how hard other women worked so that we can vote! Sending love to you, Joe and Jack. Please also give my love to your special, strong sister with the twin sons. Bridget
I agree, autumn can’t come soon enough. Yay! A cups giveaway.
Such a positive note in a less than positive time. Thank you, Susan!
I so look forward to reading the latest news from you. It really brightens my day. That Jack has the most beautiful markings.
I love Autumn too, and the cooler weather. It’s been a HOT summer in CT!
Would love to win one of the mugs! Love all of your books and have them all too!
Hi Susan! So glad that you and Joe are well and happy. It’s been quite a hot Summer here in Midcoast Maine. I am so looking forward to Fall. It has always been my very favorite season. Some of the trees in places are already tinged with color. I’m also looking forward to Fall baking and a good pot roast dinner. And mums! Oh I just adore them. They are the flower of November which is my birth month. Of course my wedding anniversary is in Ictiber. Are you surprised? Lol! The scent of woodsmoke, sweaters, a cool breeze, a cup of tea and a good book, warm throws and apple cider. Ahhhh! Enjoy the remainder of Summer and be well & be happy! Love, Karen xoxo
just love reading your posts Susan, thanks for all the lovely things you give us. Happy almost Fall.
Tick Tock! Love you ♥️ Susan Branch ❤️ We are so blessed to have you in our lives. Thank you for another wonderful blog! Hugs to Joe and Jack.♥️
Susan, you are truly the best. I can’t even express my gratitude for all the beauty and hope you keep putting out in the world. You can read our minds, too. I have been jotting down quotes from your books, blogs, and calendars for years. I told my daughter the other week that I am creating a “quotation garden” next Spring. Now I won’t have to do my homework gathering my favorites, I can use your new book of quotations for reference. Thanks also for the link to the zoom. I can’t wait to view it. I am happily signed up for the Christmas tea party in September. Blessings and a very happy Fall to you, Joe and Jack.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents. I was looking at my big desk calendar, and tore off June, July; they were emptied of all the plans I’d had, but your words and pictures made them feel less lost. All the best to you from eastern North Carolina!
Love the cups. Hope I win! Lucinda
Hi Susan, thanks for the lovely blog. You and I are kindred spirits as I’m looking forward to fall as well. Can’t wait! It’s been terribly hot in eastern Iowa. In the 90’s today with a heat index to 105 degrees. We live 1/2 an hour south of Cedar Rapids where the derecho went thru. Such devastation but such coming together of community. We had minimal damage compared to what our neighbors to the north had to go through. Keep the prayers coming. They’ll need them for some time to come. The 3 cups in the give away arrived at my house this past week. Love them all. I also have The Autumn Book. Time to look through it again. Perhaps I’ll have a cup of tea in one of my new cups.
Hi Susan, I so enjoyed your post today. Here in NC I, too, am ready for the hot humid air to be replaced by the cooler, crisper air of autumn. Your Summer book has held a place of honor on my kitchen counter and will soon be replaced by Autumn. Love your books and I am now intrigued by this new Christmas book. It looks adorable from the cover. How sweet of you to host this giveaway. Would love the opportunity to be entered.
Hi Susan~Since you got your “Autumn” book out I’m getting mine out this afternoon…something to look forward to😘
Hi Susan~I’m looking forward to getting my “Autumn” book out this afternoon even though there is no sign of autumn here in northern Michigan!
Thank you for always spreading kindness. I always look forward to your posts, and beautiful drawings. ❤️
Yay, so excited. I, too, am anxiously awaiting autumn. So tired of this heat, I long for crisp sunny days, brisk breezes, sweaters, hot cocoa and even rainy days.
Susan, you always leave a spark of joy for each one of us when you send out a new blog! Thank you for your gift of sharing your spark of joy! Hugs…..
I actually don’t own the “Autumn” book, but I purchased and fell in love with the “Summer” book during quarantine, so I’m sure the Autumn one is also amazing!!!
I watched your zoom and enjoyed it SO much!!! I’m very excited for all the future books coming along. You are so busy!
What a happy post!! I have been collecting quotes from books for years and have a book full. Time to start another one. I bought two copies of your book ” Gratitude” one for me and one for a friend. It has helped me remember there is much to be grateful for in this difficult time.
Oh,Susan,I am so excited for the give away.I have coveted those 3 cups, but not in the budget right now. Thanks so much for your words , & uplifting posts!💕
Hi Susan, such generous give-aways! Loved reading about your plan for the fall, Christmas and spring. May it all come true! And new books! I’ve always loved your quotes on your calendars and posts. I listened to your webinar and remember you saying you had been to Paris, Ontario. Me, too. Wondered how it came about that you were there? Enjoy your entertaining. It will be fun to be with friends. Hugs, Elaine
Love love love your Santa. So classic, with a modern update.
You’re a bright spot in the days. ❤️
Thank you again for the most wonderful Zoom trip to England the other day. It was such a treat. Fingers crossed I win a mug- already preordered your beautiful Christmas book.
Hi Susan!
Always enjoy your posts!! I love your books and calendars, I have them all!!
I have most of your books and love them so much!
Hello Susan, Hello Girlfriends, whew it has been hot here as well. not like in California (100+ in San Francisco.. unheard of) but it has been hot with triple digit weekends which i hope we have seen the last of. 27 more days until Autumn, i cannot wait. soon it will be time to hang up the sprinklers, roll up the hoses and hang them up for the season. we are supposed to have a rare “blue moon” for Halloween, another thing i cannot wait to see. the chickens have been busy this summer, they are now in what i call the salad days of the summer, fresh weeds, damaged vegetables, or bruised apples to munch on along with their grain and feed so they are happy. tonight as we are having spaghetti, any leftover pasta will be saved for them (they love noodles, go positively nutty over them) and since the apples are just starting to fall off the trees, more for them to munch. and some interesting reading, go to farmersalmanac.com for fascinating reading on how to predict the weather where you are at by looking at hedge apples or walnuts or watching things like the geese or looking at the fur on the critters. my cats have already started to shed their summer coats and put on their winter coats and the squirrels’ coats are noticeably thicker and darker now as are the deer. we may be in for a cold winter this year. i love reading the almanac during the Fall and Winter. i also devour any new mystery books, and reread some of my favorites. i just love the Fall, the colors, the crisp air and the wonderful cooking aromas like sage and onions cooking with a roast chicken, or a hearty soup or stew simmering away on the stove. i love that time of year, my favorite time of the year. well off to go check on the ducks’ pool and check the water containers in the hen house. you all have a great day today. stay healthy and well, stay safe and stay happy. lots of hugs and love…. hugs…. 😀
I always look for the Cave Junction post…
it reminds me of past relatives, simpler life/times.
Thank you~
Your blog today- and all within it- is such a balm. Something so positive in the midst of very tough times! Thank you Susan!
I enjoy the blogs and catching up on Susan’s latest creations! Such talent! Keep up the good work!❤️
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your cups!!!
So ready for fall! I did turn the oven on today to bake cookies for our grandson, who leaves tomorrow for Boston College.Only love would inspire me to bake when it’s over 90 and humid! I made him maple shortbread cookies, cut in the shape of our beloved Prince Edward Island. We are missing it so much this year. Thanks for reminding me that fall is almost here!
I have started decorating for Fall just a little bit….putting away sea shells, hiding a few owls on the mantle, placing a white glittered mini pumpkin on my desk. I call it “autumn lite” decorating!!
I loved this blog post,Susan. I have been anticipating the end of this hot, humid summer.very unusual for coastal Maine..but I grabbed my copy of Autumn off of the bookshelf this week, and read it over and over as it is one of my favorites. I noticed today that my swamp maples are dropping lovely red leaves on my driveway.. I think that we are on the same page… I hope that you enjoy the cooler weather.
Soooo look forward to your posts! What a bright spot in a very sad time. Reminders that no matter how dark things seem right now, there’s so much to be thankful for and knowing that a new season approaches gives hope of better days ahead. Always look forward to bringing out my copy of ” Autumn ” It’s a Labor Day tradition, looking through this beautiful little book and decorating the house for Fall. Excited!
Thank you for all of the beauty and inspiration you share! You are loved by so many!
I would love, love, love to win a mug. They are all so fantastic. As I always say in all my comments to you – I love the blog, your twitter, all your books and stickers. Just brings such happiness. Looking forward to the Christmas book. I think I will buy it for myself if I don’t win. Stay safe. Leslie
Hi Susan! I would love one of these mugs! I have been a fan since the moment I first saw your artwork. You are amazing!
Hi Susan!
Loved your zoom meeting. So happy you’ll be doing more.
Can’t wait to read all your new books your writing now.
So excited to put together your new puzzle.
Thank you for having new books!, puzzles! and cups! to look forward too.
Take Care!
So glad to see a new post from you❤ You
, Joe and Jack stay well😎 Things we be back to normal soon👍👍
Oh, I am so with you in loving the FALL! Seems like Covid stole our summer and now I am just waiting for September 1 to pull out all the autumn decor and get me some pumpkin spice! Thanks for the chance to win some great gifts…can’t wait for the quote book to be available! Enjoy your morning walks…we do the same here and sometimes the humidity is so THICK…but we are lucky and grateful for what we have when so many are so troubled. Thank you, as always, for the best pick-me-up on the internet! Hugs !
Right there with you about Autumn and Waiting for Autumn! My heart, soul, mind and body are so ready!!!! I have your Autumn cookbook, now on its way from the library to my kitchen. I don’t know why I don’t own one yet. I am anxious for stews and soups, and ginger cookies in the oven. I have been making attempts at homemade jam this week with mixed results, difficult for an old dog, (72 years) to learn new tricks, but it is possible! 90’s here in northern Illinois this week, so that is making the yearning even stronger, but I am not anxious for the beautiful zinnias and black eyed Susan’s to go from my yard, so I will persevere through these last hot days of Summer. The bees are plentiful and the sunshine keeps the garden flowers looking up!
I wish I may I wish I might…
Susan,
Your blogs make me happy every time I read them! It’s so nice to know there are such lovely people in the world and of course kitties like Jack!
I love those pumpkin Go. Be. Love. postcards! I think I’ll be following Marge’s lead and sending them to friends this fall. And I have long adored the teacups/mugs!

Thank you Susan for your generosity – love the mugs as well as the book. Always look forward to your blog posts – especially so this year. Thanks, J.
Your first Zoom call was like being there in person with you! So needed in these difficult times. Thank you dear Susan! 🥰
Hello Susan,
Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your webinar. It was very special and great to share with all your girlfriends. Thanks so much for the shout-out. I am so bummed that we will not be making our fall trip to the Vineyard this year. Hopefully next fall. Take care and say Hi to Joe! Aloha!
I saw your name and called it out Mary, but I don’t think you heard me … everything was scrolling by so fast! Aloha! We will have the island looking beautiful for you next year!
What an optimistic and happy post, 😊 thank you.
I brought out my “Autumn” book this week. Now I’m ready for jeans and sweatshirt weather – bring it on!
I’m no longer receiving the blog in my e-Mail. The last 3 blogs were FOUND while scrolling facebook. Is this new or perhaps something wrong on my end???
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Quirky world of the internet. Try to sign up again. I don’t know why anything would change! I would sign you up, but they don’t allow that, people have to sign themselves up. xoxo
Wonderful blog, Susan🥰
I LOVE Fall, too!! I don’t like to rush time, but I cannot wait until the leaves turn beautiful colors, the sky is extra blue, and the Autumn smells are in the air.
Thank you for your post. It is always uplifting.
All the best to you, Joe and Jack!
Dear Susan…I so enjoyed your 1st Zoom party last week! 💻❤🐑
I’ve already pre-ordered Home for Christmas 🎄📕🎅…looking forward to recieving it in the mail! And maybe win another? 💌Or a special cup for my tea?? ☕
Fall is also my favorite time of year…🍁🍃🍂🧡
The book of quotes with your watercolor artwork will be a must-have for this Girlfriend! 🗣💬🎨🖌📗
Love Joe’s reminder in the window to 🗳🎃
Be safe. Stay cool…Bye for now!
Thank you for making me happy during a difficult time for all of us! I’m a teacher, and I have never been stressed by my job like I am in these strange COVID times. I started rereading Isle of Dreams last night, and it was the first time I’ve slept for eight hours in a month. I know it wasn’t a coincidence. 🙂 Thank you for being a little light!
Yes! My favorite time of year is on it’s way. My birthday is in September and I think of it as the beginning of all the coming holidays! This year will be different, but maybe even more special because we have each other, a home, our health and loved ones.
You always lighten my day…. thank you for bringing the sunshine!
I too am looking forward to Autumn. Can’t wait to open my windows and sleep with fresh air (instead of air conditioning).
So much fun to read your message today. We are all looking for smiles and hugs during this crazy time. Crossing my fingers that Vanna chooses me! I have recently cracked my mug and would love a replacement. I have my Christmas book on order, can’t wait to see it at my door!
Thank you Susan for all these years (too many, I don’t want to count) of chin up girl, you’ve got this, garden tours, story telling bliss. I love every morsel.
Wow! What a breath of fresh air to get your post today! I’ve been thankful and coping during most of these times, but just lately felt a bit down…your words of wisdom and hope helped lift the cloud. Thank you. I see that we all need to keep reaching out to those we meet with care and virtual hugs. I will pass it on. Much obliged.
Yes, I’m looking forward to Autumn also! I like your new picnic table too!
Susan, I agree with you…Autumn is the best time of year ! The anticipation that starts in August is the best ! I can hear the acorns falling on my bedroom roof every night, and a few trees are just starting to show the beginning of Fall ! I love Titcomb’s book shop on the Cape…can’t wait to stop by again !
Thanks for the lovely post. I am enjoying summer but always look forward to the changes Autumn brings. Take care!
love love love autumn and your books!
Oh be still my heart! All these books you have coming…just sign me up now for one and all please 🙂 I am currently re-reading A Fine Romance. I can’t wait for your new ones. Each one is a treasure.
I love your drawings and all the small quotes interspersed in your posts! Such a treat for the eyes. :o)
Oh yes! I love autumn! Hope you get to see it there soon. It’s a ways off for me on California’s central coast but it will still come if only in the air…which we could use today. For some reason the smoke came back despite the cherished fog. We are praying hard for the firefighters! Those are extreme heroes!
I love your porcelain tea cups. Will only drink tea (which I do 3 times a day, at least) from the china tea cups…some made by Dunoon. And I’m looking forward to your quotes book. “Do the next thing” (maybe by Anon) is one of my favorites.
Cant wait for the new Christmas book and all the other projects you have in the works!! Love the mugs!!
Thank you for all the positivity your posts bring!
Thank you for the link to the Zoom Webinar. I was registered but forgot all about it in the excitement of visiting my new baby granddaughter! She is just what our family needed during 2020!
A blessing! xoxo
Your cheerful thoughts are exactly what I needed today, Susan! I don’t want to speed time away, but so ready for Autumn and crisp cool air. Autumn is one of your books I don’t have, and since it’s on sale, I will buy it immediately! Thank you for sharing so much love and fun!
What a joy you are, dear Susan! 💕 So much wonderfully happy news! I enjoyed every moment of your virtual Booked for Lunch event last Wednesday. Sipping tea, with my iPad propped up on a stack of your books, made it feel extra cozy. I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of Home for Christmas from your studio! I already have my ticket for your virtual Christmas Tea Party! I still cherish both of our Tea Parties at the Westmoreland Country Club with you, Joe, and lots of Girlfriends in attendance in 2013 and 2016. I’m hoping to invite my sweet mom to the virtual Christmas Tea Party! We treasure all that you do and share with all of us. Be well, Susan and Joe!
Sending air hugs from Illinois,

Hi Dawn! Yay! just heard from Deb Guy! This is going to be fun! Thank you for the kind words. Always lovely to hear from you!
As I was sitting here in the SF Bay Area holed up inside with the air cleaner running full blast, I thought “I’ll check to see if Susan had posted a blog—and you had!!!!! Such a-pick-me-up when I’m fighting so hard to stay positive! I’m going to go over and get out your Autumn book right after I tell you that you have an even greater gift than being a wonderful artist!—you are a “joy spreader” and that is a “super power” to be sure!!!!! You have brought so much joy to me in these past 20 years—I met you in Menlo Park where you signed my Summer Book!! I loved you then and I love you even more now!!!!
Your Autumn book is how I originally found YOU! I was looking for cooking inspiration and thought the cover looked pretty, borrowed it from the local library, then HAD TO purchase it for my very own. That book lead me down the pleasant Susan Branch rabbit hole. Haven’t looked back!
ok 4th time is the charm! love autumn and your books!
So enjoy your blog, photos, books and artwork. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
Hi Susan- Love Autumn, love your blogs and books, and love you!
Susan,
Thank you for a wonderful blog! I would love one of the mugs or the book. I can’t wait to see the one that you are working on with all of the quotes. Congratulations on your first Zoom interviews/meeting. I just did my first Zoom interview this past week. AHHHH, the wonders of technology. Thank goodness my husband was able to walk me thru it. I am so looking forward to Fall, although it will look different this year.
Thank-you so much for your lovely blog post. You are so right…it has been hot a blazes, and I can’t wait for Autumn, too!!! But, as you pointed out, we have to remember how blessed we are, and continue to hope for better things to come. Any chance of getting your Winter mug back in “print”. I would love to have that one, and am very sad that I missed it. It would go great with your new book coming out very soon!!! Anyway, thanks again. You are the best.
Thank you, Susan, for your constant love of all things beautiful and pure.
Susan, your blog and art keeps us hopeful for a bright tomorrow. Never change!!!
