JUST a QUICKIE . . .

Good Morning Everyone! Just a quickie from me and Casper (the very friendly ghost)👻, waving from our upstairs bedroom window…this is a very short update, but I still have a song for you! A very sweet one, my Grandma’s favorite, and mine too, the video is as nice as the MUSICA!🎵 I’ve posted this song before, but since I can’t get enough, I don’t mind doing it again…👏I will be back next week along with Vanna to pull the winning names for our giveaway for the handmade quilt and the vintage storybook (see the next post if you missed it). You can still sign up, just leave a comment on either of these two posts and you’ll be entered! I know you’re waiting but I’m working on a slide show for my two ZOOM Events this Sunday and next, and I’m not done yet! I’ll be coming to you from my kitchen table! (I never know if there will be an appearance from a special guest star! They are both so UNpredictable!) I hope you’re able to join us, but if not . . . there will be MORE! Click on the link above for details on how to join the party ♥️. I know they’re asking that everyone buy a book, which is NOT my idea, although I totally understand why they have to do it, this world being what it is … but if you need a Christmas gift, you might think about it because the slide show is going to be all about this old house and some of our holiday traditions and I know it’s your cup of tea.💞 Unfortunately, this won’t work for our girlfriends from other countries, shipping costs being what they are. I’m so sorry, I’m only a guest of the bookstores, I have to do things the way they want to! I have never set up a Zoom talk of my own, one of these days I will need to learn how!!! What do you think? Good winter project!!Okay, must get back to it! Thank you for your patience . . . See you soon. Oh and PS, Kellee and I have been working on another little surprise. So nice to have things to look forward to! Always good news around here! Until then, thank you for all your luv-lee comments! Enjoy your days and do this ⬇️!🎃

Susan it is always such a treat when I get an email from you. I just realized that we are the same age. Just a couple of young chicks! Anyway, I love hearing from you and would love to have my name drawn. My husband and I are retired teachers and trying to stay home and stay safe. We are all in this together and it will all be over before long. (We hope)

    • Linda, Greetings, I just, in the last 10 minutes, found Susan’s blog & I saw you post & had to share, I’m 3months to the day older than Susan. My life has been filled with happenstance or blessings from strangers. This venue is exactly what I’ve been searching for, without really knowing, I absolutely need this to get thru all the chaos in our world. I’ve been a fan of Susan’s since her 1st book, and following. More to share another time. PEACE & HOPE has been my mantra. jam

  10. KAREN RUTH ULLOM says:

Casper is adorable!! Wish I could see him in person, but would rather see you, but I doubt you would come to our tiny town; we don’t have a bookstore. Boo-Hoo. Berkeley Springs is 100 miles from Washington D.C. There must be a good book store between here and D.C. Some day I’m going to talk my precious hubby into visiting Martha’s Vineyard. I was there several years ago with my late husband and we discovered a wonderful book store there and bought a signed book about the Island. You surely must enjoy all the history Martha’s Vineyard has to read about. It’s a glorious place! Then I learned about a talented lady named Susan Branch and am dying to return with my new precious hubby who has never enjoyed that area. I think I have all your cups now. We added hooks under the cupboards to place them all. I wanted them to be seen as soon as a guest arrives and allow them to pick out their favorite cup for tea. The kitchen looks like so much more fun now!! Thank you for all your fun ideas and stuff to collect. I’d love a tablecloth and tea-sized napkins to go with all the tea cups–just an idea to rattle around in that creative mind of yours.

  11. Liz says:

Susan, You are like a comforting quilt! My BFF and I discovered you in Cambria when your Christmas book’s fingers were waving us in. Two books were dying to come home with us. We had an extremely tight budget, tho our husbands let us take a yearly Bff coastal da (ummm… now it’s 3 nights- yahoo). Anyhoo, that was our first time meeting you and then we’ve met in other books, thru snail-mail Willard, your blog, and even in person at your talks. Cliff sat next to my bff and Joe talked and signed one of your books! So, the inspiration to get creative (we are getting let’s make art boxes in the mail so we can learn to watercolor! Old dogs can learn all kinds of fun tricks! It’s truer that truest!) . Anyhoo, as she and I sit outside on our private lodge patio on Adirondack chairs in Cambria, we have our SB books, sparkling, carrot cake, and many memories! You are included! See— just like a comforting quilt! Ole and amen and merriestimo funne!

  12. San says:

You’re so thoughtful to share your wonderful quilt! I’d love to win.

  13. Jane Franks says:

Hi Susan! Good, so good for this little “quickie”. I haven’t been avoiding you. Gene’s been in the hospital again — cellulitis and some other things! Poor baby. But he’s home again, and we’ll do our best to stay here!! Lot’s of “stuff” to remember and do, but it’s my “vocation”, right?! I can do this!! But so wonderful to always see you all — Joe and Jack making cameo appearances!! Will try to catch up and be in touch more. Love your little surprises whenever they come! By the way, I had a rare “day away” yesterday; helped my friend Ann (stone wedding chapel) celebrate her birthday. Brought my special Susan Branch Winter cup!!! for her special coffee. She loved it!!! (It’s my only small one and we wanted it to be more like “tea”!!) I brought the cake — you know the decorated kind!! Had a great time and mentioned you!!! Take care! Jane xoxo

Never done zooming myself. Not equipped for it. I know I am missing a lot. Hope that learning it will be fun. Most of the time the fun is in the learning. Thank you Susan for another wonderful post, it made my day. Your photographs inspire me to dust off the 35 mm camera I bought myself as a retirement gift two years ago and try to capture even a little bit of the beauty around me. Do you use a camera or cell phone for your pictures? When I visited Israel last year with my church friends I used my cell phone the whole time and the pictures turned out beautifully.
Again, thanks for brightening my day and stay safe.

  98. Linda from Virginia says:

I have just enjoyed your webinar and tears are streaming down my face. Since the pandemic started, my son was diagnosed with cancer, I had an emergency surgery and a second one, and, like most of us, I haven’t been able hug my six grandchildren. My tears are good tears because I was feeling so terribly sad about Christmas, and you have given me hope for a good at-home Christmas, celebrated sweetly with books and movies and food and decorations. Thank you.

    • sbranch says:

Oh Linda, you are making me cry. I’m so sorry for all you’ve been through. Blessings on you and your family, and prayers for your son and for you and for the missing hugs. xoxoxo

  99. Jennie Coe says:

    Hi Susan,

I just attended your Zoom presentation sponsored by Bookends. What a wonderful hour spent listening to you talk and looking at photographs and your lovely art. I took a page of notes (old habit) and want to say thank you for encouraging all the consider this Christmas as a time to “feed our souls.” And for reminding us that our (babyboomers) parents lived through years of challenging times which led them to appreciate the small things in life. When I look back on my happy childhood, I realize how little extra my family had financially. Bit it never ever felt that way – so much happiness back then.
Thank you for reminding us of that through your presentation and new book!

    • sbranch says:

Weren’t they amazing Jennie! You might take it for granted as a child but after you’re grown, you can see it for what it was. They were so young, and so brave! I’m glad you enjoyed it!

  100. VirginiaB says:

Thanks so much for this, always a pleasure and always glad to hear you are fine and just very busy with projects. I watched a movie I’d never heard of last night that you might like, if you haven’t already seen it. ‘Ladies in Lavender’ with Maggie Smith and Judy Dench. Set in Cornwall in the 1930s. I loved it!! You can’t go wrong with those two and that setting. It’s included with Amazon Prime.

    • sbranch says:

The theme song for that movie is on my play list. I just love it! But I haven’t seen the movie. Think I’ll go watch it RIGHT NOW! Thank you!
