Happy Thanksgiving, Susan and Joe!
I want to let you know how much I appreciate your work. My sister and I discovered it when she moved to Albany for her first real job. Her boss was a great mentor. She gave my sister Vineyard Seasons for a present. I had never seen anything like it. I loved art class in high school and especially water colors. Looking at your work was truly like seeing a kindred spirit.
Soon after that your Summer Book came out. I bought a copy and every summer there after I have ushered in the season by reading through the whole book. Things got even better when the Autumn Book came out and I could have the same tradition in fall.
Your work also inspired me to make a family recipe/photo book celebrating all of my granmother’s recipes. She was a wonderful cook and it was a great present for her and for the rest of us to celebrate her life.
I love your blog. Thank you for writing it. You are appreciated.
You’re a sweetheart to tell me Michelle. Please say hello to your sister for me too! Happy Holidays! xoxo

Happy Thanksgiving, Susan and Joe!
Thank you Dear Susan, for the Thanksgiving Wishes. As usual this morning, your twitter is the first thing I read. I have a big smile on my face when I click on the smiley icon. No matter the subject on Twitter or Blog, I appreciate your deeply thoughtful insights and the effort it takes to share them with us. Susan for a Pulitzer, maybe even a Nobel. What you have done the last few weeks is deserving of those honors. Urging us to consider ideas, big ideas, and the consequences of Not Paying Attention! Much love to you, Joe and all the wonderful people on your blog. And of course Jack!
Debbie, now in Florida
LOL, adorable Debbie, thank you! xoxoxo

One delightful thing about being on board the ship, the rocking lulls you into sleep, the sea air is wonderful, all the way home we are moving the clocks backward for an extra hour of sleep, so you do arrive home very rested!
God bless you, Susan. You have a well-intended heart. May you continue to be blessed with joy, health, love, creativity, safety, and peace.
I’m grateful to have you in my life all these years, Susan! You’ve been a good friend even though you only know me this way. Enjoy your last moments of this fabulous trip.💕

We have spent Thanksgiving on a cruise ship in the past. The food was amazing and the turkey melted in your mouth! Even though it was a wonderful experience, there is nothing quite like spending Thanksgiving at home.
I am so thankful for this blog. I have admired and respected you for a long time but over the last couple of weeks, the admiration and respect have grown tenfold. You have handled yourself with dignity and class. Thank you for being You!!

Always blessed, ever thankful! Saw that on FB the other day and I’m going to adopt it as my motto( because it’s true!) You & Joe have a wonderful (how romantic) Thanksgiving on board the ship!
Most romantic way to travel, it’s just amazing what a six-day interlude, between two worlds, in the coziest of cocoon like places, is. Like another world. xoxo
Happy Thanksgiving Susan, and Joe too! How exciting to have Thanksgiving on the ship! Will there be all the trimmings?? What’s your favorite part of the meal? Mine is the stuffing/dressing.
Indeed, we all have so much to be thankful for!
Safe voyage home! ((HUGS))
I see gravy as the tie that binds! 😀 Gravy on stuffing, gravy on turkey, gravy on potatoes . . . gravy the next day, gravy forever! Must go home and make gravy!
So happy to know that you are almost home. I have always loved the feeling of arriving home after a journey and holding my cats. Your kitties await you!xo

Happy Thanksgiving Susan! Hope that you have safe arrival home and we will allow a bit of rest … But then we’ll be anxious to get caught up. Not to mention getting in the Christmas spirit! Tonight my traditional viewing of Miracle on 34th Street will fill me with magic. It starts at the Macy’s parade … ❤️
~Happy Thanksgiving Susan & Joe!!~
Waving to you over the many many miles from the little country of Belgium!
Although Thanksgiving isn’t celebrated overhere in Belgium, it does no harm at all to give an “extra Thanks” and make it a special “Count-your-Blessings- Day”! Right?! 🙂 ❤
With blessings to you,
Aurélie x
No, Extra Thanks are always good, thank you Aurelie! xoxo

If you can, please post a photo of your dinner on board. Does the Queen Mary do anything different/special for the holiday meal? Glad to hear you are on your way home…there is no place like it!
Holiday Hugs,
Jerri
I have lots of pictures to share … they didn’t do anything different, it was all very traditional, delicious but no where near as good as what my Grandma made 💖, BUT they had Big Band musica for dancing afterwards, so that made up for it….
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Joe!
Happy Thanksgiving Susan (and Joe)

Thank you Sue!
Hubby snd I are having an evening Thanksgiving dinner, too, with family at our oldest son’s home. Very grateful for this peaceful day!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🤗🦃🍽🍁 and may the rest of your trip be joyful ❣️
I have never left a comment before but always sent one in my heart. Our family is celebrating in DC while we investigate colleges with our granddaughter. We feel as if we are rolling on the ship of state here in our beautiful capitol; everyone we talked with is nauseated with fear and anger.
I appreciated your piece about the outcome of the election. It helped many of us feel connected as you clearly articulated what we feel.
We get home on Saturday also, from DC to Minnesota, a blue state. Then I will pull out your Christmas book to jump start the joy. About 27 years ago I was given “The Heart of the Home” to cheer me up during a medical issue and I have given and owned all of your books since then.
This is by way of saying that I am thankful for you, your gift of talent and especially your spirit.
Traveling mercies to all of us. Karen Larsen
You are very sweet Karen. I’m thrilled to see Trump is busy breaking his campaign promises, and I can’t tell you how happy that makes me! Perhaps it was all usury just to get elected. After all, he’s always been a Democrat, so it just might not be what we think. Prayers. Deep breaths, and joy to the world. xoxo
Happy Thanksgiving Susan! Many blessings to you and Joe!
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
I am sure you have had a wonderful trip, but I bet home sounds wonderful right about now. Hope your seas are calm and your dinner delish! Happy Thanksgiving to you and hubby?
Back on the diet!
Hello….and Happy Thanksgiving to you and Joe!! Thanks for thinking of us on this special day….enjoy!! Loretta/Calif.
That is a serene view! It is pretty here in MO too. Crisp and cool, but delightfully 🌞 sunny!! We have just finished a delicious dinner…I made your cranberry sauce recipe last evening and it is divine.
Blessings of Thanksgiving to you all too!!
Happy Thanksgiving, Susan and Joe. I am thankful that you gather us in your blog and gives us words of love and peace and truth to make the world kinder and gentler after brutal year. We will survive and we must, so keep speaking from your heart because it’s people like you who will guide us to unity and peace. I love that you and your blog and website are a refuge to seek out, share and learn how to remain friends and sisters who try to make our own homes refuges for family and friends. May your turkey be juicy, your plate be full and your life be further blessed with wisdom and love. 😊💕🇺🇸
It has been brutal, I agree, deep breaths all around, gather in, we all have so much to be thankful for. I love your blessing! xoxoxo

HAPPY THANKSGIVING SUSAN ! Had to wish you the best today b/c you have taught me to be so much more grateful for everything I’m my life. Big bear hugs to you and everyone who sustains you. Love, Nina
Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels.
Can you smell the aroma of my turkey roasting??? Fantastic, making everyone wishing they could dig right in. We wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and Joe. I am grateful for how much you have given us: joy, happiness, great recipes, good ideas, and words spoken from your heart. I admire your courage, your candor and your diplomatic nature. You are kind, generous and faithful to your readers, even if they are not always faithful to you. Thank you, Susan, and thank you Joe, as I know you enable Susan to do as much as she does. She is the cheery duckie and you are the webbed feet below the water’s surface, paddling like mad to make it easier for Susan to do what she does so beautifully. And thank you, Susan, for using plenty of quotes from our dear Gladys! You have introduced her to countless new readers who have become FOGT members and we are very appreciative. Have a smooth sailing home!
You have it just right, Joe is the rock. And using Gladys’s words so others can experience her wisdom is my total pleasure as you know Susan, so very wonderful to hear from you!
Happy Thanksgiving and God speed!
Happy Thanksgiving and welcome home to a special friend. Smiles
xoxo Nancy!
Wishing you many Thanksgiving blessings!
May you be happy, May you be safe, May you be healthy, May you be at peace.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Joe. Safe travels and welcome home! Jack will be very happy to see you! We got a new kitten, a brown tabby, and named her Annie. She’s only 9 weeks old so we’re enjoying the “kitten crazies!”
