Good Morning Everyone! Just a quickie from me and Casper (the very friendly ghost)👻, waving from our upstairs bedroom window…this is a very short update, but I still have a song for you! A very sweet one, my Grandma’s favorite, and mine too, the video is as nice as the MUSICA!🎵 I’ve posted this song before, but since I can’t get enough, I don’t mind doing it again…👏I will be back next week along with Vanna to pull the winning names for our giveaway for the handmade quilt and the vintage storybook (see the next post if you missed it). You can still sign up, just leave a comment on either of these two posts and you’ll be entered! I know you’re waiting but I’m working on a slide show for my two ZOOM Events this Sunday and next, and I’m not done yet! I’ll be coming to you from my kitchen table! (I never know if there will be an appearance from a special guest star! They are both so UNpredictable!) I hope you’re able to join us, but if not . . . there will be MORE! Click on the link above for details on how to join the party ♥️. I know they’re asking that everyone buy a book, which is NOT my idea, although I totally understand why they have to do it, this world being what it is … but if you need a Christmas gift, you might think about it because the slide show is going to be all about this old house and some of our holiday traditions and I know it’s your cup of tea.💞 Unfortunately, this won’t work for our girlfriends from other countries, shipping costs being what they are. I’m so sorry, I’m only a guest of the bookstores, I have to do things the way they want to! I have never set up a Zoom talk of my own, one of these days I will need to learn how!!! What do you think? Good winter project!!Okay, must get back to it! Thank you for your patience . . . See you soon. Oh and PS, Kellee and I have been working on another little surprise. So nice to have things to look forward to! Always good news around here! Until then, thank you for all your luv-lee comments! Enjoy your days and do this ⬇️!🎃

I agree it is so nice to have things to look forward to and it is always wonderful to read a new post from you, dear Susan. Thank you so much!
You have been a welcoming friend and an inspiration to us all. Thank you for your many kindness through the years.
So I’ve to hear from you.
Yes! Please! Would love that quilt! Beautiful and soooo cozy! Love your….everything, Susan.
Even the short ones bring a little joy….thanks!
Signing up for your zoom presentation NOW. So enjoyed the last 2! And, I love the book…reminds me of my childhood.
I love seeing pics of your kitty and hubby. You’re updates are a little slice of nice that make me smile every single time – thank you for being you and sharing your life with us all to enjoy. I’m addicted to your beautiful coffee mugs and just snagged the one with Apples. I’d love to get my hands on the one for Halloween. Best wishes – have a great weekend!
The quilt is a gem. So fresh and cheerful. Several years back, I ordered “Once on Christmas” from AbeBooks on your recommendation.
Can’t wait!
Good to hear from you, Susan! I’ve got your sweet Christmas book and am trying to hold off to start reading it until after Thanksgiving!
Love your blog and I LOVE getting your emails – they are one of the few positive things I receive these days! Thank you for reminding us all of the good things in life that we need to celebrate daily – and appreciate always. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Even the short ones bring a bit of joy….thanks…
Hi, I will definitely check out your Zoom event. I would like to be entered in the giveaway. Thanks very much, Katie
I absolutely love your spirit, your energy, your beautiful art and how generously you share your world with us. Thanks so much!
Can’t attend either of the above events since I’ve already purchased your book. Hopefully, these are the same as the September Tea Party, but I always enjoy listening to you. Sorry…
Always love your posts Susan, even the shorter ones! I can imagine the excitement for whomever wins the quilt!! I love vintage quilts and making new ones! I’ll check put your zoom!
I just signed up for Zoom hosted by The King’s English. I hope the whole process becomes clear the day of the event!!??! Should be exciting, I hope. My internet meetings track record isn’t the best.
I love Lida Rose!! Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
Oh…I love the ghost in the window so much! Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us.
Dear Susan,
Thank you for your update, including the upcoming Zoom events; I loved the last one hosted by Titcomb’s Bookstore. I wanted to say your 2021 mini and wall calendars are just wonderful once again, and I love “Home for Christmas” with your personal signature! It is hard not reading it, but I’m saving it for Christmas Eve. Thank you so much for bring these joys into my life.
Hi Susan, Joe & Jack,
Look forward to each SB blog, like the ghost, in the window. We took a picture of your front mantel, a couple of years ago, withe the front ledge of the pumpkins, Joe, had put up.
Love Vineyard Haven and Martha’s Vineyard . Stayed there for 5 nights, at the green
mansion, at Vineyard Haven. So quaint! Love the Black Dog Tavern, you!
Have a nice October month.
SB fans,
Donna & Shirley
Greetings this beautiful Fall Day in Northern Virginia. Love your new book… my sister gave me a copy for my birthday and she gave me the apple cup too! She knows how much I love your books and products. Thanks for always being a person of quality. Have fun with the zooming! Mary DD
Trying to take deep breaths and think positive thoughts!
Hello, Susan,
I shall try again (for the umpteenth time!). Just want you to know how much I look forward to and enjoy your messages. You are quite a gal and I adore you as do all of your loyal girlfriends. Please stay well, here’s a hug for you and one for that hubby of yours and a BIG one for Jack. Stay well, stay safe and stay as sweet as you are (an old song too)
I was 10 and surprisingly still remember that song. My mom must have liked it also. Sure do miss her.
Hello:-)
Quickies are good too! Always a joy to see a post from you, and the Osmond/Andy Williams music was a great blast from the past!
Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for being a part of al our lives in such a special way!
Nancy
Quilts and vintage books are the best! Get cozy under your quilt and read a good book!
Love, love, love the Lyda Rose song! I remember it from The Music Man, but have never seen Andy Williams with the Osmonds version. Lovely harmony on this crisp Fall day! Thanks for sharing it with us!
When I saw the picture of Joe, I couldn’t but remember the ending of your book as he was walking toward your table (not sure of the exact words, but something like this) “Don’t come over, don’t come over……….oh Hello!”
Happy Fall to you and everyone!
Such a sweet song to end our day with here in England, enjoy yours!
What a trip down memory lane with Andy Williams and the The Osmonds ! Thank you ! ! !
Thanks for the short update and music.
I love when you do these! I wish on Twitter it wasn’t so political
Hi Sue, It’s so nice to see Casper in your window. A delight on this rainy day. You keep us smiling. Keep up the good work.
Love the photo of Jack staring down the spider!
I always love hearing you Susan! Hope all is well and I love you
Hello Susan and Casper
My family has a ghostly guest this time of year, too. He sits in his same place Halloween after Halloween and reminds us especially this year that at least inside our home things are still the same.
Happy Halloween to you and your family
🎃
Love the ghost! Jack looks quite interested in that spider! My two kitties (Clara & Sarah) never quite know what to think of Halloween and Trick-or-Treat. The costumes do not thrill them. They’ll be happy this year, as I don’t expect many goblins at my door because of Covid. Of course, if I don’t need to buy as much candy this year, there won’t be many leftovers for me to enjoy. 🙁
Happy Fall! happy rainy days…we need them!
Take care you will be zooming along!
Please enter me in your drawing! Kay H
Hi Susan
My copy of Home For Christmas is here!!!
Sadly this year I won’t be “home” with my family this year
Because of our age in the time of Covid.
But you’d sweet book is so filled with memories it will keep me
Company.
Thank you for helping to make this crazy time less so.
❤️
Where did you find the ghost in your window? I love him/her!
Nice surprise seeing your note in my e-mail today. : ) Wishing you and Joe a lovely autumn weekend.
Thanks, as always, for your lovely blog❤️ I was thrilled to read that you’ll be “virtually visiting” my hometown bookstore—Bookends in Ridgewood, NJ!! Not sure I can make it for the actual event, but I will be sure to stop by for a copy of your Christmas book!
Afternoon Susan,
Please enter me.. Thank you for the new post. They lets brighten my day.
Did I ever tell you that one of my favorite things you post is your Thanksgiving posts?
With your beautiful bread on your ironing board. ❤️ Just love it.. and it’s right around the corner.
Blessings Granny Trace The goat lady
Oooo, YES! Enter me in the drawing! I have followed and loved everything about you for over 2 decades now! Cheers!
Thank you, dearest Susan, for your cheerful, colorful blog today! I am a principal teacher, and several of my precious students are in difficult times. “Lida Rose” touched my heart in a happy way.
I love your new Christmas book…my dilemma was if I should read it as soon as it came or wait until closer to Christmas. So I am doing both. I read it immediately and then I will enjoy it in December, too.
Happy Halloween!!!
I received your book in the mail on Wednesday. It is the cutest Christmas book I have ever seen. Loved it! Happy Friday Susan.
C’Mon Vanna… pull my entry! Love Casper!!
Picking up many leaves! 🍁🍂. Enjoying beautiful Autumn!
Spending Halloween with my 11 year old niece, she will be in the play “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. 🎃🐎👻
Hugs,
Margot
Love the Andy Williams song, what a great artist. Thank you for another blast from the past.
What a beautiful quilt! Would love to win!🤞🏼💕
Oh how nice to have an unexpected message in the inbox from you! (Love the musica!)
Here is Texas we have a cool and beautiful day, not what you might think of as mid October, but for us its the breath of Fall – all the windows open and linens on the line, just to air, because we can. Today I’m baking bread, tomorrow we are doing a family yard day, because we all went and VOTED yesterday. Put out some more mums, rake the leaves, clean up the potted plants.
I finished a Halloween-y quilt this week, and it is just in time for a post yard work football and a nap tomorrow. If you need an assist with a zoom meeting, I’m happy to help, but you will figure it out on your own I expect, because it is easy to do!
Have a lovely weekend, and greetings form Central Texas.
xo,
Peggy
Dear Susan,
Thank you for the update, including your upcoming Zoom events; I so enjoyed the one hosted by Titcomb’s Bookstore. I wanted to say your 2021 mini and wall calendars are just wonderful, once again, and I love “Home for Christmas” with your personal signature! Thank you so much for bringing these joys into my life.
Just cannot wait to see this zoom! Getting pretty good at it. Another thing I have learned while dampandicing.
Holding out hopes on that beautiful quilt. I will be happy if whoever gets it is thrilled too! Thanks for dangling these give aways in front of us. We are enjoying beautiful fall weather in NV, near Lake Tahoe and I’m sure it is beyond gorgeous on MV. Wish I were there! 🍁🍂
What a beautiful cat.
Monica
Love Lida 🌹 Rose! Had never heard it! Cheers and Happy fall Y’all!
It’s always the best possible adventure when I get notice that I have email from Susan Branch. Honestly, it’s like a breath of fresh air. The tales, the photographs and the artwork take me away from my current reality for a bit. Thank you for keeping up with the blog.
Bless you Susan! You are a bright light!!
Xoxo
Thank you for sending us our “breath of fresh air” Susan, and LOVE the picture of Joe and Jack!!! They both look so very happy!! Your blog is always such an inspiration and I thank you always!! Happy Halloween!! Lin in Sioux City, IA
Susan,
Thanks for all you do for your “girlfriends!” Love how adaptable you are in these UNprecedented times.
Very best to you!
P.S. Hope you will enter me in your giveaway!
Absolutely love your ghost in the window!! Thanks for sharing. Barb
I have not been around for quite some time – and have missed so much. My husband has been diagnosed with dementia and it has taken some time to make the necessary changes in our lives. I am hoping to be able to catch up in the next few weeks. Thank you for continuing to send such interesting thoughts! Blessings!
Take care Betty! Sending love… xoxoxo
Always enjoy your point of view and happy slant on the world. Thanks for being a bright spot for all of us.
It was great to hear Lida Rose again. It made my heart swell with Iowa pride. Lida Rose was written by Meredith Wilson of Mason City, Iowa. The man singing with the Osmundson in the YouTube video is Andy Williams of Wall Lake, Iowa. Thanks so much for sharing that this was your grandma’s favorite song. That makes me happy!
Barbara from Hawkeye, Iowa
My grandma was born in Sioux City, maybe that’s why she loved it so much!
That’s great to hear!
I sooooo wish we could burn leaves in the gutters again. Such a wonderful smell and memory of when I was a kid….😢 But I guess Oregon has had enough of smoke🤷🏻♀️
Happy Fall ya’ll! It’s my favorite time of the year. I am happy to read even the shortest blog you send. Just keep them coming Susan…. thank you!
Hello Susan,
Your email is a ray of sunshine today and always. I’ve been busy taking care of my husband who just had a quadruple by pass. He’s a good patient but if I could find a way to put on those support knee high socks I’d be rich. Keep making the world smile with your books, calendars and emails. You make the world a better place for sure,
Barb Kuzdzal
You too, keep making the world smile with your positivity! xoxoxo
I always enjoy your blog… I especially enjoy it in the Fall season. I look forward to the next one immediately after reading the current one. Hurry up ! lol
Love your ghost in the window. Halloween is my favorite holiday! When else can you eat candy instead of veggies or put on a string of pearls and pretend to be a lady?
Hi Susan! Love seeing Casper! Are you doing any Zoom events in Maine?
Zoom events are virtual, so people can join no matter where in the world they are! I just sit in my kitchen or in my studio and do them from there!
Love the pic of Jack with the spider! Good luck with Zoom.
Today the weather makes it feel like Christmas is in the air not Halloween. Good reminder — I need to order the new book and a few calendars!
Thank you once again, dear Susan for brightening everyone’s day!! You’re a gem.
I just love the quilt and like to imagine who made it:)
I love older things that people have used and cherished. They have personality, character and soul.
Susan,
Absolutely loved Home for Christmas!!! Will be giving as Christmas presents this year. Such a beautiful book.
Thank You Susan for your ever optimistic view on life! You and your art works are an inspiration and always make me smile.
I’m so excited for the drawing! And I have loved your books!
Short but sweet and I loved seeing the Osmonds. Made me think of my memories with my Grandma.
Susan, my husband lost his job, and I am on the prowl for Christmas gifts! Your book would be a wonderful gift for my friends, or sister-in-law! Keeping my fingers crossed!!!
I do believe it’s time to order my calendars. I can’t get by without the desk one and 2 other large ones. Last years were fantastic. I really do miss you and your store on Arroyo Grande.
Gone are the good old days. Love to follow you, though.
Look forward to all your blogs.
I love little posts and long posts from SB homequarters (the headquarters being in CA). Love that we can see and hear you on Zoom. It’s so loverly!
I love your blogs.
Hi Susan,
Thanks for giving another opportunity yo enter your drawing! Jack is so cute spying the black spider!! Luv the kittens!!
Hi Susan, I always love to read your updates. Short or long they bring joy! And of course the music is always so nice to hear also. Thanks so much for sending happiness to our inboxes!! Especially now when we need it most : )
Happy Fall !! Dawn R.

I’m having a hard time not reading it, but I want to save it for Christmas Eve. Thanks so much for bring these joys into my life.
I received my book from Titcomb’s and spent hours going through it with a few cups of tea. It brought me back to holidays with my grandparents and aunts and uncles. Such wonderful memories. Thank you for reminding me, Susan! Sending love!
Hi Susan,
So nice to see a little post from you today. Love the pic of Joe and that sweet kitty boy. 🙂
Zoom talks are fun! You’ll find it pretty easy and it’s such a great way to connect!
Always look forward to your blogs, even the short ones. I lost my husband in January, were married for 52 years. Still learning how to go from being us to being me. It’s been a God wink how often your blogs show up on the days that are the hardest. Thank you for being such a bright spot in my day.
My bestie was on the Vineyard and saw Joe in your van. Knowing how I love you guys (including Jack) she couldn’t wait to tell me. But no picture 🙁 bummer.
Just wanted to let you know that your cookbook was the very first cookbook I ever bought was I was a newlywed. It’s full of stains- and love! Thanks for yor beautiful work.
Casper, the friendly ghost, looks very festive in your upstairs window. Thanks for the
Zoom meetings and opportunity to purchase books. I will definitely try to sign up for one
of them. Enjoy this beautiful fall season, Susan and Joe!
Love the video! How cute Marie Osmond was!
Love your books! Love your story!
The photos of horizons in your last posting blew me away! They were stunning seen together like that. There is just something so serene and hopeful gazing out where earth meets sky. Fall is finally here and really enjoying pulling out all of the Fall and Halloween decorations we have accumulated over the years. Each one helped build a memory that we could safely tuck away and take out for remembering good times in coping with challenges we face now. I love seeing your charming home so festively decorated as well! Joe and Jack are looking exceptionally well! Happy Fall to all of you!
