JUST a QUICKIE . . .

Good Morning Everyone! Just a quickie from me and Casper (the very friendly ghost)👻, waving from our upstairs bedroom window…this is a very short update, but I still have a song for you! A very sweet one, my Grandma’s favorite, and mine too, the video is as nice as the MUSICA!🎵 I’ve posted this song before, but since I can’t get enough, I don’t mind doing it again…👏I will be back next week along with Vanna to pull the winning names for our giveaway for the handmade quilt and the vintage storybook (see the next post if you missed it). You can still sign up, just leave a comment on either of these two posts and you’ll be entered! I know you’re waiting but I’m working on a slide show for my two ZOOM Events this Sunday and next, and I’m not done yet! I’ll be coming to you from my kitchen table! (I never know if there will be an appearance from a special guest star! They are both so UNpredictable!) I hope you’re able to join us, but if not . . . there will be MORE! Click on the link above for details on how to join the party ♥️. I know they’re asking that everyone buy a book, which is NOT my idea, although I totally understand why they have to do it, this world being what it is … but if you need a Christmas gift, you might think about it because the slide show is going to be all about this old house and some of our holiday traditions and I know it’s your cup of tea.💞 Unfortunately, this won’t work for our girlfriends from other countries, shipping costs being what they are. I’m so sorry, I’m only a guest of the bookstores, I have to do things the way they want to! I have never set up a Zoom talk of my own, one of these days I will need to learn how!!! What do you think? Good winter project!!Okay, must get back to it! Thank you for your patience . . . See you soon. Oh and PS, Kellee and I have been working on another little surprise. So nice to have things to look forward to! Always good news around here! Until then, thank you for all your luv-lee comments! Enjoy your days and do this ⬇️!🎃

Lids Rose, my very favorite barber shop quartet song. Since hearing it in ,”The Music Man “ has always been my number one. I really understand why your Grandma loved it. Hi Miss Susan,

What an unexpected delight! Thank you for the darling musica and already-handsome Donny Osmond. Now if we could just get YOU to sing us a little song once more… pretty please with sugar on top?

For those of us who already bought bookS (plural ~ one for us, more for presents!) will you be able to post links to the videos from this Sunday’s zooms in your blog, as you did with the Tea at Titcomb’s Bookshop? I was so happy to be able to rewatch that, technical difficulties somewhat marred my watching it live. I would love to be able to buy a ticket to this Sunday’s events, offered separately, if there’s a chance of that.

Your portrait of Joe and Jack is so adorable, me-wow.
    xoxox love Coco :@)

  27. Rose Ann Giallombardo says:

Happy Fall dear Susan, Seems I’ve gone back to my childhood by finding the most beautiful Autumn Leaves and putting them between wax paper inside the pages of my heaviest books. It makes me happy 🙂 to see how lovely they turn out! If you hear a Bump in the Night on Oct. 31st, don’t be scared, it’s just your Mommy sending you all her love & good wishes.
By the way, I felt like Andy & the Osmonds were singing to me just like my late husband Joe used to do. I miss him so very much, my heart is broken.
Thanks for the memories. Love, Rose

  28. Jo'l says:

  31. Linda says:

    Hi Susan,
I look forward to and always enjoy your blogs so much. I usually read them with a cup of tea and ‘biscuit’ in hand… today it was a warmed up bowl of chili and corn bread from last night’s dinner. Basking in the warm Autumn sun on my backyard deck. Won’t be many more if these days soon.
Your words and description of what you are doing always get my creative juices flowing. More so now as a good distraction from the chaos of today’s world.
So I’ll take my empty bowl to the kitchen sink and continue with my wooden button necklace and bracelet project for my grand daughter.
    Until next time. Be well.

  32. My daughter and I love your sweet and inspiring blog! We have read and cherish your books as well. Thank you for offering kindness and hope during troubling times. Love, Becky and Eliza in Port Angeles, Washington

    Kitty

Ps- loved your last Zoom!!!! I’ll try to get on the one on my birthday – 10/25. What a treat!!!

  43. Paula Carter says:

Don’t we all love your “Catch a leaf” little quote? These little traditions are the charms of life and traditions. I always collect the first fall leaf I find and put it in my purse. My mother used to say when seeing a truck of hay bales, “Bale of Hay, Bale of Hay, take my wish and go away,” so there’s another one to make your wishes go forward for you. Enjoy our favorite season and keep your chin up. 🍁🍂🥰

  44. Gail Risden says:

My daughter noticed that I use my Bluebird cup every day since it arrived . I wished I had purchased it 4 yrs ago before it sold out so it is extra special to me to use it now. I just had my 4 yr free of cancer mammo so think my reward will be another cup or book (Or…maybe both!) Pandemic isolation getting harder now in 8th mo. (both Tim & I are high risk) but your blog brings such pleasure. I re-read them and I save them as well. Many many thanks for adding so much pleasure and beauty to our lives, Gail Risden

  45. Pam Burkham says:

Love your podcasts – even if they are short!

    Blessings –

    God bless,
    Dawn R.

  47. Valerie Horner says:

I am so disappointed that I will not be able to join your tea party. I live in the county and have very limited satellite access. I would have LOVED to see a slide show of your house. I hope you will post some of the pictures on your blog for the rest of us to enjoy. Good luck with your ZOOM event.

  48. Judith Vest says:

As always, I enjoy seeing your decorations. I somehow just don’t have the heart for Halloween this year. I think I will be able to do something for Thanksgiving though.

  49. Milanya says:

Do any other girlfriends have glitches when they see a Susan Branch blog post on their smart phone, glance at it, and intend to read it later when they get to their 17″ laptop (easier on old eyes), but completely lose the post? That’s what I did with your October 2 post. Thankfully, you posted again today and gave us another chance to win the quilt and the 1938 Christmas story book.

I attended your Christmas Tea and loved every moment of it. When your delightful Christmas book arrived, I read it in one sitting. Now I’d love to read the book you read to your nieces so long ago which inspired your own book. Thank you for Susan, for being such a generous girlfriend. We all love you and your positivity.

  50. Fran Noyes says:

I love the quilt that you are sharing. I’ve been a quilter for over 30 years and never tire of it. I love reading your posts, they always give a warm feeling! With this crazy world we are living in, it is nice to hear and see all your crafts, decorating and especially recipes. Thanks again!

  51. Viv says:

the next best thing to being in the bookstore 📚….and germ free!
    Cheers to you 🍷

Thanks for your quick note. Love getting these happy messages from you. Please work on the “zoom” thing. I haven’t figured out how to use them let alone set one up. But for you, I will figure out how to do a zoom. Happy Day from the wilds of Wyoming!

    • sbranch says:

Kellee and I started talking about it this afternoon. We think maybe this winter when we’ve all totally lost our minds might be a good time. We’ll have Twine!

  61. Hope says:

In times like these we who celebrate the little things are ahead of the game as there is always something to look forward to!

  62. Mary Helen says:

    Susan,
Please enter me in your drawings for this month!
    Thank you,
    Mary Helen

  63. Kay Bennett says:

    Hi Susan,
So glad to hear you’re going to be talking about your lovely house and your traditions. Cheryl and I will be watching on Sunday. I was happy to buy your book so I could attend your zoom get together. I haven’t received an invitation and instruction email yet, on going to the meeting I’m sure I got one on your last visit. Maybe it will come on Sunday before the meeting starts. Looking forward to seeing you again. Happy Fall🎃!

  64. KATHRYN ONEILL says:

I love you…..have done so since your first book “Heart of the Home”. 😘🥰

  65. Janelle says:

    Lovely post. Thanks

  66. Heather Bledsoe says:

You are such a delightful and joy filled human being. My Aunt gave my mom your Vineyard Seasons Cookbook back in 1989. My mom passed shortly thereafter but insisted I enjoy your extraordinary book. She loved to cook comfort food and knew I would as well. She was 59 y/o and I was 33y/o that year. I miss her everyday but always feel her near and all your books have helped that. You were one of her Final Gifts to me. I in turn always gift someone I love dearly with one of your books to add comfort to their life. You inspire me.
    Heartfelt Gratitude, Heather

    • sbranch says:

Heather! You are making me cry. Both you and she were much to young to lose each other. Of course, you never will truly lose her, but that hand on your arm, the arm around the shoulder, the look. All those wonderful touches.Thank you for those heartfelt words, just making me cry!

  67. Joanne Conte says:

Thanks for the update, Susan! Have a great autumn weekend! Hope there isn’t too much rain!

  70. Karen from Milton, WA says:

Thank you Susan for shining your light so brightly in the world! So, I heard that President Barack and first lady Michelle Obama moved to Martha’s Vineyard. I envision you and Joe dining under the stars with them in your beautiful backyard enjoying a compelling conversation and lots of laughter. “Isle of Dreams” right? 😉 Love, Karen

    • sbranch says:

Uhhh, no. I’m pretty sure they bought a house. But probably we won’t see a whole lot of them!🤣 I don’t think they live here year-round, but then again, I don’t know what’s going on!!! I should maybe imagine that the way you are, love the whole idea!

  71. Cindy Roberg says:

I have never seen that video. How special! Love the ghost in the window!
I would love that quilt. I am a sentimental hoarder, and would proudly display that quilt.

  79. Mary Farrington-Lorch says:

I think the thought of setting up a ZOOM account is more intimidating then actually setting one up. I just upgraded mine yesterday and then immediately set up a meeting. It was really pretty easy peasy. Good luck and do it!

  80. Jill Smith says:

Oh gosh will miss your zoom. But I got your new Christmas book and I am so excited! I am a major fan have all your books and calendars every year.

  81. Gail says:

What a lovely surprise to find your blog as I opened my e-mail. Sitting inside, taking a break from cleaning out closets, as we close up the beach house for winter. The front came through Corolla, N.C. about 1:30 this afternoon and the temperature dropped a good 15 degrees…it is chilly. The pool is covered, and the deck chairs put away. Everything cleaned up and ready for next spring. Casper looks very ghostly in your window, but in a friendly way, inviting the kids to trick or treat. Favorite month of the year…my birthday month!! Happy birth month to me!!

  82. Wendy Decker says:

Hi Susan! I’ve been thinking about you this week. I received your “Heart of the Home” as a wedding shower gift and we celebrated our 30th anniversary on October 13th! Because our area has had an uptick of covid cases we had a dinner at home. I made your apple crisp (p.121) as dessert. This has been such a family favorite and I took a picture of the stained and spattered page but didn’t know where to send it to you. We became grandparents 2 months ago and I’m looking forward to the day when I can starting cooking my favorite Susan Branch recipes with my little guy!

  83. Shannon McFadden says:

Your blog posts have been a lifesaver helping me get through this pandemic. I’m a healthcare worker and at the end of a stressful day…..The British Bake Off tv show and some Susan Branch are just what this girl needs to unwind and distract my mind.
    Thank you so very much!!!
    Shannon

    • sbranch says:

Shannon ~ all my gratitude for what you do … I’m sure people tell you all the time, but THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. So brave. It must be so difficult. Around here we wear masks to show our love for our healthcare workers. xoxoxo

  90. Kendra says:

I love your ghost in the window !!! Good luck on your zoom meeting I know you’ll do fine. I know I hate it when I suddenly have to help my children with a computer question then to look up and see my face on their computer screen for everyone to see. So not use to that still. Oh well. I know I’m not the only mom with that dreaded feeling knowing she hasn’t any makeup on nor has she brushed her hair.

    • sbranch says:

It does take some getting used to. I’ve never been a big lipstick wearer, and nothing feels sillier than putting it on when I’m practically in my jammies, but Zoom cries out, says, Lady, you have no lips!

  91. Mary Loro says:

Got my Christmas book . Anxiously awaiting my puzzle ! Love everything Susan branch!

  100. Nancy Bachman says:

It is 100 degrees here in our little desert town in California. Way too hot for the middle of October. But reading your post made me feel instantly cooler and reminded me that fall really is here and surely it will arrive soon. During this “Covid” mess, your posts have made me smile. THANK YOU SUSAN!
